GSXR
Just got June Car and Driver magazine and it tested a black Silverado SS. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. Quarter mile in 14.8 seconds @ 90 mph. 109 top speed. .74g on skid pad. They really liked it. A side note: Got Cycle World magazine on Saturday. Had a test on the 2003 Suzuki GSX-R1000. 0-60 2.7 seconds. Quarter mile 10.05 seconds @ 142.46 mph. 177 top speed. Bought one today, picking up tomorrow if it's not raining. GSXR
This is what Car and Driver said about the ride. "The ride is still trucklike, and it can get bouncy over rough tarmac, but it is surprisingly plush and compliant over just about every other surface." PotbellyJoe
Check the altitudes, humidity and temperature that Motor Trend ran it at, plus that they run at Full gas tanks alot of time, or near full, because they do it during their mileage tests.... -Joe

zippy
well, neither of them run using an actual dragstrip and since no one has even posted a time close to that i'd have to see it to believe it. i'm sure it's possible in cold enough air without much fuel at low altitude manually shifting it and with the right launch technique. since car and driver is quite often way slow on their times, might just be estimated... SilveradoKid
zippy, What do you think it should run? dcairns posted his times from an actual drag strip and got 15.3-4 as did GMMG and he got 15.2... so is .4 of a second faster than his time too strange or unbelievable? zippy
considering it's car and driver, i wouldn't say unbelievable, but certainly too strange, yes. .4 is quite a difference.

Maybe it was that extra hose hooked up to the intake and that funny bottle in the back, on the "press prepped" SS.

jwest1975
0-60 in 6.3 seems to be pretty darn close to what Mervz and I determined on my truck with less than ideal conditions! I gotta get me a June copy of that magazine! Justin
Extreme4x4
.74G's????? Thats it???? EEEKS !!!!! I thought they were supposed to handle well??? Could that just be a typo or something????? That would mean that any economy car, midsize transportation appliance, or land barge could blow it away in handling. Me hopes that is a typo (in the mag????). No offense to you guys here...... like I have said a million times, it is a nice truck. However, .74G's sure doesn't seem like much sport........ in a sport truck (or even a sporty truck). Sorry if I sound incredulous, but handling to me is a very important part of the story for a sporty anything. Going fast in a straight line is fun....... but going real fast around curves is where its at !!!! Wow, I never thought it would be that low. They should have broke in to the 9s with the new 1000, I have an 02 600 that is bone stock and I have ran a 10.7 on it. My 99 ZX9-R ran a 9.97 bone stock. I can drag race a bike pretty well, I have been doing it for a little while now, I would think they would get someone with some time in the saddle to do the test for these bikes.
