StealthSilveradoSS
Trying to get production numbers from anyone has been difficult. I would like to know if anyone can tell me how. Is there a way to look at the VIN and determine what number my SS was in the production order? Any info would be helpful.

Never have seen offical production numbers, but 15000 units of the 2003 SS has mentioned on this board, magazine articles, and in some GM estimates. Not sure anyone truly knows the offical production numbers for 2003 As far as production number for your SS, I have seen on this board that VIN numbers of the SS are mixed in with other model Silverados, thus it would be difficult to determine the exact production number of any SS. Heldonss
Maybe when the 2003 model year is over somebody at GM will take the time and determine our production #'s. It could happen, they did it with the 3,369 2002 35th Anniversary Camaros after they were all built. It would be nice to know....maybe we all could send some emails to GM !!!!!! As far as 15,000 SS's for 2003...I don't think it will happen, but who knows??
StealthSilveradoSS
Lets hope that GM will help us with the numbers and lets hope that the 15000 number ends up less! That would make ours a litttle more rare in the collection world.
BigTex
With this economy, I'd put money down that the 15000 number will end up less. I'm ready to buy one, but I know the prices will be much better in a few months. What to do.... Same thing happened to the C3 in 2001. Granted, the C3 isn't quite the same vehicle the SS is, but it was pretty sweet. Anyway, I almost bought a C3 in December of 01. The truck stickered for $39, 050 and my purchase price was $30, 200. The 5 trucks I had to choose from had VIN numbers and build dates from March and April of 01. So these trucks had been sitting on the lot for 8+ months. I went by a dealer yesterday to scope out the stock and see an SS first hand. I told the salesman I'd buy when the prices really dropped and they were ready to get it off the lot. He told me that sales of everything (except the H2) has been horrible. I think if I can get it for invoice price before the rebates, I'll get one this month. If not, I'll wait til next month. dcairns
BigTex- Unless you can't stand the roof warts, get all the bells and whistles. The XM radio is very cool. The dual climate controls and heated seats are a hit with the wife, and helped her forget how expensive the truck was I am not sure about the On-Star thing, but I like the stolen vehicle tracking it can do, and that is good for a small discount on the insurance.
