styleandspeed
Sorry guys if this is the wrong spot because I know it isn't very technical, but i was wondering if any of you have tried using a pocket PC to tune your trucks with LS1 edit, or HPtuners. I have been reading, and although i may not be ready to dive into it yet, I don't have a laptop anyway. I do have a nice HP pocket PC(not a palm), but I don't know if that will cut it. Please let me know Aaron
[email protected]
eh.... does it meet minimum requirements? processor speed, memory, etc... never heard of anyone trying this... but hey, what do i know..
TurbochargedBerserker
Not sure, Aaron. Nothing on the HPT site. Flashscan or LS1Edit might.
styleandspeed
I don't have it with me at the moment, but I know it has at leash a 200mhz processor, and 64 mb of ram, but I still don't know if that would be quite enough. I guess that I will just have to shoot an e-mail to HPtuners about it.

styleandspeed
It does have a usb port, and I verified 200mhz processor, and 64 mb of SDram. Here is what I found just so everyone knows : minimum requirements: Windows 98 or Better 150 mhz PC or Laptop (Flash and Editor) 300 mhz PC or Laptop (Recommended for Scanner) 64 MB of RAM 16 MB of Disk Space Native Serial Port or PCMCIA serial adapter I think that it would work for writing the tunes, but not if I wanted to run the scanner to tell me how my tune was working out. That sucks. i guess that I will either have to pay for a tune, or find a laptop. Oh well. deezel
200 mHz should be ok to scan, maybe just slower than ideal or a few more dropped frames. For some reason I thought HPT had a USB option. I suppose you could always try one of those USB/serial adapters. Or, just wait for FlashScan to come out. It has black box logging - no PC required in vehicle to log...
styleandspeed
Supposedly a lot of people have used the usb/serial adapters with no problem, but I am still not sure if I really trust my pocket pc to write the program without freezing up half way. I am going to keep looking into it because I honestly still haven't found anyone who has used a pocket PC yet.
[email protected]
I would save up the money and buy a laptop so i wouldnt have to keep sendin in my pcm for a tune. with a laptop, u could just do it whenever you want. just my opinion. styleandspeed
Turns out that I just got a laptop for free. It is an old one from my dads work that nobody was using, but still has quite a bit more than the minimum requirements for HP tuners. Looks like I will get to start tuning someday soon. I hope that it will be easier to understand once I have the software though, because I have spent hours reading everything I could find on hptuners and I still don't understand it at all.
