I just traded in my 2001 Silverado LT in on a Black SS and was wondering if anyone here has found any super plush SS embroidered floor mats. I have a set of Lloyd's with the Silverado sewn in but I want the SS Logo. It seems that Lloyd is under litigation about their use of logos, so I am out of luck. Anyone here know of a good source???

Also the new overhead console sucks, it doesn't have near the storage of the LT. Any suggestions on where to find a stock looking super trick one?? I found the exact one like the LT at Sonny's but I want something cooler.

Also the dealer told me that the ECU on this truck has the power dialed down until it is broken in. Anyone here experience that?? I also have a C5 Vette and it wasn't detuned until break in.

Thanks in advance.

Good Evening Group, Just joined after finding your site. Been driving my SS since 3/28/03 and I'm in love. I work at the 4.3 I6 plant (Envoy-Trailblazer) in Flint, Mich and have engineer friends at the Milford proving grounds so I'm in the process of trying to find out some of the secrets that GM isn't telling us about this truck. I will keep you updated as I receive info. Nice Site, thanks for the effort.

TedG,

While I have no specific knowledge of the programming of the ECU, VCM in the SS, I can state that I am aware that GM has in the past provided programs in some of their ECU's that provided different operating parameters for approximately the first 500 miles of vehicle operation.

I also traded in a 2001 Silverado and miss the overhead console storage.

cre8vtung,

Welcome aboard!

I tend to believe that they may have done some funny mapping, this thing is not all that quick, in fact it almost feels the same if not weaker in some areas as my 285hp 2001 4x4. The console is getting changed. If I was paying attention I would have swapped it.

But I did do my first coat of Zaino on. It is noticabally deeper. For those of you who don't know about Zaino, go to corvetteforum.com and see what they use. The Viper guys feel the same way.

Hey Ted -

First, welcome aboard. Second, I'm really glad you brought that up. I just read the Zaino was the best wax around. Down side is that it MUST be applied VERY sparingly or you don't get the best results. That made it somewhat difficult to work with. I got that information from a magazine called Guru Reports. It's published by a bunch of guys who do detailing for a living and are sharing their knowledge about products. It also said in that mag that it is one of the few waxes around that actually gets better the more coats you put on. Did you find all the above to be true. You said you just used it for the first time so you may not have had the time (or desire ;) ) to wax it more than once.

I'll check out the corvette forum, also. Thanks

I have a C5 Vette also and use Zaino on it and have for a few years. The more coats the better. What make the product so good is the Z6 gloss enhancer, It is a spray like quick detail...this stuff is the tits. Their leather products are great and smell more like leather than leather. They have a glass polish (kinda powdery stuff) that is unbelievable. As far as sparingly, a bottle last for years. Me I try everything (have plenty of vehicles to experiment with) and Zaino hands down beats them all so far. The best part is there is no nasty yellow wax, so it doesn't attract dust like wax does.

And thanks for the info on the mats, when I have time I will do a search unless someone would post a link.
