DirtySSouth
Haha now tell me if any of you have had this problem. My body molding on my SS at the bottom of the tailgate is coming off!!! I did not do anything to it, and the truck has been babied completely....get this, the strip of body molding that is "flapping" is only stuck on there with double sided 3M tape!! I was very surprised to see that chevy would use this temporary of a solution for body moldings, makes me wonder how much of the rest of the truck is held together with 3M tape! Im probably just going to take that hole strip of body molding off under the tail gate, very dissapointing...
shawn_butler
3m tape has been used for twenty-five years in the automotive industry. I holds on emblems and all that side molding on every vehicle out there. The tape is not the problem, the problem is the third party installer did not take enough time to clean the surface properly. Take it back to the dealer they will fix it better than new. My tail gate protector is doing the same thing and else where on this site someone had the same problem with the cladding on the doors. whmayhew
The cladding on the passenger side door came loose on the top a few weeks ago. I took it back to the dealer and he used a wider two sided tape than they used at the factory. The factory tape was maybe 3/4" wide. No further problems yet.
