  1. Hello most recalls and service issues in 2006...best wishes and have fun... Yeah but they did fix them. GM built it the same way for eight years knowing about the problem. Don't get me wrong I have Owned 10 new GM vehicles and I think they build the best Truck in the market but I can say from experience their customer sevice is not up to par with their vehicles. All manufactures have problems it is how they handle it that makes satisfied customers. I currently own a 2004 Z71 and my Wife has a 2007 Saturn VUE Redline. Didn't want to ruffle any feathers just trying to make a point. My opinion is if they will try to become #1 in customer service they will have it all. As for customer service I restate If buying a new truck today Hello Toyota. I would rather see my Truck fixed and drive it until people say "So thats what a Classic Chevy Truck looks like"
  2. My understanding is that GM changed the design of the splines on the shaft to have fewer but wider splines. This condition allows the grease to work out of the splines. I also understand that GM has a fix coming out in FEB for this. I do not know if it will be warranty only repairs or if it will be available to all of us. Do a search using the word Steering in this forum and you will find a lot of good info. Should be warranty! The service bulletin is out now so I checked with my local dealer to see about the repair. You will only get this repair if you are still covered by warranty. No warranty no fix. My truck has 40000 miles on it so I get the Shaft but not the steering shaft. He said there is no recall so the repair would be at my expense. My dealer don't care and GM don't care . Wake up before we all drive Toyota's. Perhaps the petition should move forward and ask GM to recall or make an exception to allow the dealers to make this repair at no cost to it's customers. Where did you locate the TSB on this??? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthrea...325&page=18 This is another forum so be kind and take a look at their rules. This TBS is also available in this forum. Just do a search for Steering and you will learn more than you want to about this problem. Find it here on SS forum http://www.silveradoss.com/forums/index.ph...amp;hl=steering

  4. I just checked with my local dealer. A service bulletin has been released to replace the shaft with a new design. Here's the bad news : If your truck is out of warranty you will not be getting the steering shaft. my truck just hit 40000 miles so I am out of luck. GM is also losing a loyal customer. Hello Toyota
  5. Add a 2004 Z-71 to the fix list as well. My locale dealer wanted $150 to do this service. What a rip off. Should I say my EX-Dealer.
