  1. I'm not sure what you are getting at, but my truck is 2wd with a 4.10 from the factory so that makes your statement false. I was just making sure his truck is the performance edition from the factory and that he didn't add the 20s later on. Also you have to lookout for dealers that decided to put the 20s on themselves.
  2. Do you guys have the classic 2007 v-max or the new v-max? The peformance package comes with 20s and a 3.73. The towing package comes with a 4.10 and 17s. Also my truck runs 14.8 @ 90.62mph. I'm noticing that the 3.73s are getting around the same times as the 4.10s but with a higher end speed.
  3. Do you have the 3.73 rearend? I noticed in my dealer brochure that the vortecmaxes that come with 20s have a 3.73 and mine has a 4.10.
  4. I went to the track this past wednesday and had a great time. It is the first time I ran this truck. As you can see my R/T s are not very good. I think if I had a little more time to practice I could get some better times. Left to right is my first run to last run. On my last run I beat a acura rsx really bad. He had headers, exhaust and CAI. I talked with him after the run and he couldn't believe how fast my truck was. lol I told him I had the same motor as the silveradoss then he kind of understood. lol It seems like many people don't know what vortecmax means.
  5. Well when I first got in the market for a fullsize I fell in love with the silveradoss. Then I kept looking around and found that I like sierras a little more. I guess I'm just tired of seeing so many chevrolets out there. I'm a diehard chevrolet fan too don't get me wrong. As far as I can remember my family has only owned GM vehicles and almost all of them have been chevys. I'm even thinking about changing my 02 s10 over to a sonoma front end, because I'm tired of seeing so many s10s out there.
  6. Well I take it back about the tailights. I would like to see a tailight that is in the shape of mine, but has the color of yours. I dislike the yellow in my tailights somewhat.
  7. True, but the sierras already look much cleaner from the factory then the silverados do. The side molding, tailights and tailgate rail cover all look cleaner. IMO
  8. wow that was nuts. i guess that would be on the guys that owned the dyno if the car got messed up right?
  9. You're truck has the 3.73 right? What would you think a 2wd with the 4.10 would do?
  10. I haven't been thinking too hard about it. But I need to do something about the inside of the bed. I have also thought about exhaust and maybe in the far future a supercharger. I'm going to have to play around with that idea though. For now my s10 will be my heavily modded truck. what did you do to your S-10? Well its been bagged for about three years now. A year ago I tore it apart to sfbd it since I dragged through the rear of the frame. I decided to cancel the bodydrop and I bought a another stock frame for it. I am in the process of bagging it on 20s. The front is pretty much finished. Just need to install shocks and patch the firewall up for clearance on the 20s. It has been down for over a year and I am kind of missing it. Plans for it are to get a superlift 4 link from suicidedoors.com, bodywork and getting repainted onyx black. I may one day throw a 5.3 vortec in it.(it has the 4.3 in it now) This is what it use to look like. And before this pic it was a xtreme. Thats why it has xtreme wheels on it. These pics are where it is now. This is the new frame I started with. This pic shows tierod notches, modified control arms, and modified frame for 2600s. Tucking rim. More tucking rim. Under hood.
  11. Could you please elaborate? I've never heard of a standard behind a 6.0L; the 5-speed was/is available with the smaller V8's but to our knowledge not with a LQ4/LQ9. Not trying to pick an argument here, just wanting to know what you have seen... Well I was browsing through my 06 sierra dealer brochure and it was showing info about a 5 speed manual with the 6.0 and a 6 speed manual with the 8.1. I don't have the brochure with me right now, but I think it was only offered with the 1500hd/2500hd. My dad has also said that it was offered. When I get the brochure back I will look back at it to make sure I didn't read it wrong. I'm not trying to start a argument either, I kind of jumped the gun without having the info directly in front of me. Sorry if I am wrong.
  12. Yeah, if I would do that I would also lower it too. I don't like the look of trucks with rims and that are still at stock height. Too bad my 20" Intro Pentias will not bolt on.

  14. Thank you man, but you're info about there only being a automatic offered for the 6.0 is false. There was a 5 speed offered, but I think they were very rare. Well anyhow this is the truck that I picked up yesterday! click here! There are 2 6.0L Vortec motors, the LQ4 and the LQ9; these engines are identical except for piston dish size, the LQ4 has a little lower compression ratio to deal better with low-octane pump unleaded. The LQ4 motor appears in many trucks, especially the 2500's so you might find that 6.0L motor in half-ton Silverados but I haven't kept up so that is a guess; but here is a list of the LQ9-equipped trucks, this is by no means definitive but as best as I could compile/remember: Chevy Silverado SS LQ9 + AWD (2003-MY2005) GMC Sierra Denali LQ9 + AWD (2005-present) Chevy Silverado SS LQ9 + 2WD (2005-2007) Chevy Silverado SS Intimidator LQ9 + 2WD (2005-2007; aka "SSI") GMC Sierra Texas Truck Edition LQ9 + 2WD (2004-MY2005) - 4x4 also Chevy Silverado Vortec High Output LQ9 + 2WD (2004-2005; RPO B4V aka "VHO") GMC Sierra Vortec HO Edition LQ9 + 2WD (MY2005-present) Chevy Silverado Vortec Max ext. cab LQ9 + 2WD (2006-2007) - 4x4 also Chevy Silverado Vortec Max crew cab LQ9 + 2WD (2006-2007) - 4x4 also All 6.0L-equipped trucks are autos, LQ4 & LQ9. Mileage varies with drivetrain; my AWD SS stock got high-14's city, mid-16's freeway but that was with a CAI, catback, & tune, I've since added shorter tires so I get mid-15's on the freeway now but even that is better than my buddy's 2006 Sierra CC 5.3, he is bone stock and gets worse mileage than my modified SS. The 2WD LQ9-equipped trucks are getting what I would consider damn good mileage, reports range from 17 to 19 or better. You'll have to use the search function to hunt-up the fuel mileage threads, this gets discussed 2-3 times a year... Mr. P.
  15. Just bought this truck yesterday! It is fully loaded and has the 6.0 and towing package. This is my first fullsize and v8 and I am loving it!
  16. thank you guys. Okay another question. Did any 2wd 1500 silverados come with the 6.0 also? Do all 6.0s come with automatic trannys? What gas mileage are you guys getting? Welcome to the forum - nice S10 AFA your question, several reasons combined to make the change from AWD with 4.10 gearsets to 2WD with 3.73 rear gears; 1) the final retail sticker price of the AWD truck was so expensive they weren't selling at the time, many SS's sat on lots for months; 2) performance truck enthusiasts held that the AWD made the truck too heavy plus increased drivetrain losses and that discouraged them from buying; 3) the AWD SS trucks started to exhibit serious drivetrain problems in the front axles in the form of groaning and loud operation (failed bearings) and there were many dealer/warranty service issues about this. GM opted to phase-out the AWD trucks in early 2005 to both eliminate warranty work they were suffering as well as bring a performance truck to the market for a few grand less. I have a AWD SS and love it; my past truck was a BBC with posi, I could never get any traction in that truck and completely enjoy my 2003 SS Although buying parts for it is about as expensive as BBC parts Mr. P.
  17. New here and I am interested in getting a silverado ss. I am not sure what year to get. I heard a couple things about them such as the first ones came with AWD and then they swapped them over to 2wd. What is the deal with that? Also I think they first came with the escalade motor then the swapped to another motor? Oh and here are my current trucks. This is my s10. It has been bagged for 3 years. It is down right now. I trashed the old frame and I am currently rebbagging it on 20s. This is my tacoma. I am planning on trading it in when I find my ss. This truck is too small and uncomfortable for me.
