  1. I would like to see pics when you get them. Send to [email protected]
  2. If you don't mind me asking, what have you done suspension wise? I know you added sway bars, what components did you use to acheive that height? I will do some searching to see if I can find a measurement of stock SS height. Thanks again, you have been a HUGE help.
  3. Well, I have the same ones. Now we know that they aren't different. Is your truck stock hieght or lowered? How high is it from the ground to your fender? Front and rear both if you don't mind. Thanks again, you have been a big help. This forum is saying not to lower an awd more than 2 inches and gmfs forum seems to be saying 3 inches is ok on a 4x4. The torsion bars are the same, I wonder if a stock SS is just adjusted 1 inch lower than a 4x4 (that might make your suggestion of possibly having different keys correct). If I could take out my blocks and adjust the front down to be SS hieght, that would be wonderful. Then maybe spindles and shackles later....... Thanks again, Jason
  4. Holy crap, talk about some info......Thanks. Which code or codes would belong to an SS? I am assuming I can find my code on the sticker in my glove box, but I don't have an SS to compare that list to. Man, thanks again. I figured I would have to find a friendly parts counter clerk at my local dealer to figure out the difference in the bars. Any of them would have probably given up at 2 or 3 different part numbers, lol.
  5. Hmm...I am not above spindles, from what I have read on here if I go too far with the torsion bars the truck will start to ride and handle funny. It sounds like I might need to make some adjustments to get down to SS ride height though. How high does a factory SS sit??? Sounds like you are already a bit lowered, I wonder if the SS torsion bars are a different rate and make the truck sit lower? I would think it would just be adjustment, but if you think the part number is different, then I don't know. I don't want to try the hd bars. That would probably be too stiff for me. I want to get down to SS height and then I will do shackles and/or hangers or springs in the back and spindles up front. I guess this isn't a very common thing to do. I can't find much help on the 4x4 forums go figure, lol. I would love to have an SS but with gas prices the way they are, the smaller V8 that runs on regular, plus being able to use 4x4 in the snow but 2wd for fuel milage means I can only dream about an SS for a while. Did I mention the sticker price difference, lol. Thanks for the help man. Maybe I can find someone with some dealer connections to do little searching around and see what they can find out about the differences in the bars and keys. Anyone else have any input?
  6. Ah....Now that is what I was looking for. Do you think the t-bars would make much difference? If it were coil springs I would change them, but I am not sure bars would make as much difference (but I am new to owning a truck). Keys wouldn't be necessary unless I need more adjustment than I already have, correct? Basically, if I take out the factory blocks, and run my torsion bars down just a little, I should be able to attain SS ride height and possibly handling? Thanks for the tip on the sway bars, I will look into them for sure. What do you think? TIA
  7. Hey guys, I figure this is the best place to start gathering lowering info. for a 4x4 since some SS's are AWD. I have a '07 Classic with a 5.3 and I need to know if the suspension is the same as an SS. Are there any differences besides the transfer case? Shocks, springs, t-bars maybe???? Does the AWD SS ride the same height as my truck? My truck has what looks like a factory block between the rear leaf and the axle, is this universal or unique to the 4x4 trucks? Any input would be great. I can't use any info. I gather on here until I know what is the same and what is different. I want to go lower, I just don't know how low yet. I think I want to level it for now. For all I know I may be able to use some factory SS parts to make it handle better. Are the sway bars different? TIA for any info. you have. Jason
  8. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life............
  9. Lights look good, do you have any more pics? Where did you get them? TIA
  10. The guy at the dealership told you the truck should have a 2" block? My truck is a 5.3 4x4 and has a 2" block between the axle and the spring. Maybe the SS trucks don't have this and the regular ones do. He possibly just didn't know? Actually........I am curious as to what the difference is between SS and 4x4 suspension, but I can't start my thread on that until I post 5 times.
