  1. Oooh, a craft show - maybe I can score some hand knitted accessories for the truck;-) Both Adrienn and I had a great time yesterday, thanks all. Hey, a quick ebay search yielded zero results for SS panties! - I think we may have something here. And I'm definitely game on the last Saturday of the month events. JB
  2. ***Spoiler*** Check out this trick. http://kalleboo.mirror.waffleimages.com/fi...803edf3d0c4.gif
  3. I recently acquired a PDF copy of the factory 2003 SSS owners manual and thought I'd make it available to anyone else who might want a copy. Anyone can get one by registering at GMLink.com, but I hadn't seen a thread on this topic. This PDF is all image based, so isn't small - it's 27MB. I'm not sure how best to distribute this as I don't currently have a home server. If admin's would allow I'd be happy to post it??? JB
  4. I've never checked to see how well it mixes if the SF is added to a container/tank of gas, but I'd suggest putting it in on an empty tank and then filling up to mix it well. JB
  5. sweet...I just did a quadrulpe gainer...out the winder...over your truck...nuttin but net. ;-)
  6. You aren't in bad hands with the suggestions thus far, but don't forget the basics... did you install or upgrade anything that could have impacted your graphics / display driver??? Sometimes the most basic install or upgrade, especially with laptops or IGP boards, can cause problems. What kind of laptop do you have and what kind of gfx chip do you have? BTW, does you laptop sound normal as it starts up and is the corrupt display the only thing that 'sounds out of the ordinary'? JB
  7. I have a busy week/weekend this week, so it's rather tough to look that far ahead. As of now I plan on being there for some part or maybe evean all of the festivities. I look forward to seeing the driver behind the trucks I see around town! JB
  8. Whoa...how about a power coated bed? http://www.jaddak.com/xiom1000.html Edit: Sorry for such a brief post...and maybe this doesn't belong in this thread, but I wasn't aware there were pc options that didn't require oven/pre or post-application heated cure. Shows you what I know. I didn't realize the supplied to pc goods (minus blasting equip) could be had for a few hundred bucks. Guess I need to get out of the office more often! JB
  9. Definitely a good thought. I had already considered that point, but was prolly overestimating the flow that would actually get through. I guess true racemesh is made with 'strands' that are rounded, which permits higher volume of air through than the same sized 'cutouts' of the same area in a flat piece of metal. I'm going to keep my eyes out for different materials to play with and even begin making a positive then negative mold that materials could be shaped into...or maybe I'll just get back to work - stinking Mondays!
  10. I was flipping through the lastest PartsExpress catalog and an idea popped into my head...could the sheet of metal mesh for speaker grills be used to create a custom grill for the SSS (or any other car/truck). Hope it's legit to include links to non-sponsor sites when it's for reference and not sales... http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=262-878 I haven't gotten far enough to measure the length of the pieces needed vs the sections available from PE, but was here at work and I started thinking more about how the metal might be shaped with wood blocks etc and figured I'd toss the idea out there. Anyone attempted something like this before? I even like the thought of the black powdercoat. JB
  11. I'd be down to meet you all and siphon some SSS knowledge out of you! I'd like to know which of the DSM SSS drivers are worth waving to ;-) I was a former jeep owner and miss the friendliness of the 'jeep wave' (ok, enough of sensitive side...now I can just stomp on those little jeepers!) Unfortunately I'm tied up the weekend of the 2nd for a buddies wedding (was this the target weekend?) Is this G2G still in the works? JB Ok, every once in awhile I have to remember how sweet the SSS is just to have, even though it's bone stock for now. My list of mods is growing by the day, but I must start with fresh tread which still hasn't yet happened. Please tell me I'm not the only stock SSS in town.
  12. Fox Forma: I hear your dilema. Sounds like you have a solid grasp on the options, so what's the worst that happens? Let us know how the shadowing goes. BTW, matters of jobs and careers always reminds me of a piece of advice I heard from my father's friend..."Salary increases and promotions are time for 6 packs of beer - time to sit back and contemplate. Firings, layoffs, quitting, etc, now that is time for champagne." And it really is true...the first tends to lock you in even more and limits your possibilities (most of us don't constanly search for new positions / opportunities), but major events that help you re-evaluate and let new opportunities get through to you are really worthy of celebrating! Again, best of luck!
  13. Fox Forma: I have some knowledge and experience with the mtg / loan biz. Several questions come to mind...are you provided with leads or responsible for cold calling? Get an idea of how long the other officers / brokers have been there - this will give you a decent idea of how they fair compared to other shops. Do they have a diversified number of lenders they provide loan products from? Having more products will help you qualify and sell more. There is great potential in the industry and eager newcomers have a fair shot. Have you ever worked on commission before? Jared
  14. Glad to see a topic that I might be able to assist with! Do you have an ATI or Nvidia graphics card? If so, update to the most recent drivers. There are standard TV resolutions that have been available in the drivers of these cards for awhile now. Did I miss you indicate whether this was a SD or HD display? And what type of display is it? Is it widescreen? Please reply to some of these if you'd like more help narrowing down what res you need to select. As a last resort there's always an app called Powerstrip that enables you to create custom resolutions and timings, but that can be quite intimidating. The priority of connections mentioned above is also solid advice (hdmi/dvi, vga, component, svid...etc) Best of luck.
  15. They all say for off-road use only, don't they? Wonder what the deal is?
  16. Welcome. I'm new, too, and in Des Moines.
  17. Huh, huh...huh...you finger your truck.
  18. yeah, monoprice and bluejeanscable.com are great. I bought a 50' DVI cable that I use to connect my HTPC to the LCD and it is of amazing quality. Sure isn't the smallest diameter, so running it wasn't easy, but get this...it was less than $75. While tossing out connector props, Parts Express 12AWG speaker wire in spools of 50 and 100' are also of great quality.
  19. After years back and forth, I've finally settled that charcoal IS worth it. And not the briquettes...the real charcoal is best. You can always have a beer / drink while waiting, right? I have three mains tricks to my grilling success. 1. Brine poultry and pork 2. Make sure all meat is at least room temp before cooking, and some time bringing it up to temp slowly up to around 100 degrees or so will really help give you a beautiful steak that has more of it's inside cooked to your desired temp. 3. Use true Hungarian Papriks on bbq rubs when smoking. Towards the end of the summer after you've done the steaks, bbq / smoking, chicken, etc, I like to play with other things. Grilled pizza, for example, is great.
  20. I must admit, other than looks, I don't understand lifted vehicles with low-profile tires. Other than the appearance, most of the time the benefits of each are at odds w/ each other...at least for most off-roading situations.
  21. Much like everyone's taste in trucks...the suggestions listed thus far all offer great value and flat out excellent bass for the money. Obviously, IMHO only. :-) Can add HSU to the list as well.
  22. Audio is so subjective, but I've have no problem at least suggesting you consider the PE Dayton MKIII Titanic kits. Or how about an IB setup...I've been dreaming of assembling one of those for years.
  23. Ferrets! Direct View, Rear Projection, or Front Projection HDTV?
  24. Greetings. This forum is great...only negative I can see is it will take me years to pick up enough info to feel like I'm able to contribute. I have recently purchased an '03 SSS. While I do routinely tow 4000lbs or so (boat), I am interested in a shiftkit...both for trans life / longevity and performance. The Zippy kit sure seems to have solid support here, so will likely be the candidate. Because I'm a former Jeep owner and did much of the maintenance myself, I don't have a mechanic I trust. And while I'm a competant driveway mechanic wannabe, I'm not about to jump into an auto trans. Are there any other IA SSS owners that can recommend a general mechanic and / or a trans specialist that could install a shiftkit? Des Moines would be best. Jared

    HELP

Sorry to hear you are having issues. My based on your post my first two thoughts would be coil or coil wire..have you tried any test to check for good spark? Those are my initial thoughts after hearing it 'died while running' and that is sounds like it wants to turn over. I'm certainly not a mechanic, though. Maybe others can help chime in. Good Luck! Jared
