  1. I must have had the wrong # on my files, surprised Dan didn't correct me. Sorry about that. Yes, they are kinda a universal set, not sure if it's truck universal or generic GM, but they fit like they are supposed to, and they were not predrilled. Now, as for trimming them, you can, however, the more you take off, the less protection they provide. I have mine come out of the wheel wells just 1/4" or less to greatly reduce the rock ships, sand blasting, and salt spray off the sides.
  2. Welcome to the forums! You can check out my garage to see mine, I painted mine to match the truck. I used Husky Liners, #31301.
  3. I just had my buddy make some custom stickers to I placed over the old ones, look the same, just filled in the botwie with blue, with the SS cut out. I have a picture in my garage, can't find it on my computer, or a quick link at the moment.
  4. Nothing exciting about mine, but you can look into my garage and see some pictures.
  5. Spin it to the positive side, it's more stuff the SSS can do that the Lightning and SRT can't.
  6. Welcome! Noticed in your profile you list as Victory Red, cool, but you also list it as a 2008, AWD... which the SSS was not made in 2008, and AWD died durring the 2005 run.
  7. It only goes back 3 years, the SSS is too old. Anyway, 7 out of 10 of the most stolen are GM products. Not sure if that means they are just that darn good, or that darn easy to steal, lol. A commerical can be made either way.
  8. Upgrade to bigger brakes, and you won't have the normal brake wear issue, and the trannies will not handle any more power, or much abuse. If you had enough power, or abuse the truck a lot, the tranny will give out, though you can place the money into to beef the tranny up to where you will have no trouble what so ever. My life style is one of the hardest you can do to a vehicle, and she takes it with ease.
  9. Hate is such a strong word... but may not be strong enough! Just messing with you! Now, you esimated it'll cost $10,000 to buy another truck to replace the SS, with all the performance parts, with the cab and chasis you want... but you can easily sell the SS for more then $10,000. You even said yourself you don't want to cut up the SS... doesn't that tell you something? Listen to your own heart.
  10. I think you would be better off selling the SS, then buying a RCSB truck, and adjusting the driveline according to your tastes, then it would be to take a limited production vehicle, and hacking it up like that.
  11. It's cool knowing someone who's famous, at least the truck!!
  12. I got State Farm, full coverage, $250 deductible, pay $630 every 6 months. Also, State Farm calls it an K1500 LTZ, so it escaped the SS pentality, which their system might be fixed now, but I ain't changing a thing. I've heard where these trucks has somehow squeaked through some company systems, as insurance, body shops, ect. without having the SS nameplate on it cause of how GM did the vin's for these trucks, that's something else to shop around for.
  13. I use the Husky liners, except I had mine painted to match the truck, which doesn't matter much for a guy with a black truck, lol. They work good. Also helps keep the truck from turning white in the winter time due to salt.
  14. Welcome! Also from Ohio, seems like we are getting a bunch of locals lately. As to how to lower it, depeding on how it was done, and the parts used, post pictures, and see if you can tell what brand the parts were, maybe someone on here would like to trade with you.
  15. I have the AVN6600 model, which is basically the same unit, I can say these are pretty good units.
  16. Fuel system was inproved in 2004, brake system in 2005, also in 2005 Silver Birch replaced Arrival Blue, also, in the later years, the SS wasn't quite as loaded. The AWD gets off the line quicker, traditional for any AWD, however once up at speed, the RWD is more responsive.
  17. Congrats, and best of luck to ya!
  18. Welcome to the family! I am from Zanesville, Ohio.
  19. You said the SS got hail damage, any pictures of that? Glad y'all are ok. Could have been a lot worse.
  20. So, when I search for transmissions on here, the 4L80E keeps popping up, guessing that is what everyone upgrades too? Why 4L80E instead of 4L85E? Just food for thought, I found some specs for the 4L65E, it's supposed to handle up to 380 torque... but the LQ9 is supposed to produce 380... why would you put a transmission behind a motor that's going to max out the tranny right off the get go.
  21. Well, I tried to search, but a lot of the older topics are gone, and the search function doesn't seem to be very efficient, that being said, sorry for most of this, if not all, being a repost. First, now I am confused on what IS the transmission in a stock '04 SSS. All I find is like E80 or something like that, can't remember exactly, the letters stayed the same, what ever they were, but the numbers seemed to change from 60 to 80, so I am not sure what is 'stock' and what is 'upgrade.' Second, is there any warning signs I should be aware of? I've personally never had a transmission issue in any vehicle, besides worn clutches. I got 59,000 miles on the truck, some of it very hard earned. I've noticed times were it hesitates to upshift, sometimes it feels like it slips when it does shift, and the last two weeks, twice I tried to move forward from a dead stop, and it didn't budge until it then dropped in gear, and jerked the whole driveline like it broke something. Once, I was at a intersection, going uphill, and having to make a turn at the same time, tried to go forward, but the truck just coasted back until it found a gear. Fluid is good, correct level, color looks new even, temps lately been a little higher then what it normally runs, like 150, normally she runs 125, unless she's driven hard. Figured it would be easier to get help and advice from here, then it would be to call or ask around Like I said, I have no experience with transmissions.
  22. Your first mistake was pulling into a honda dealership to start with....
