dude, that would look sick! I say go for it!
-
Yeah so I got a call this morning and was told by the dealer, he misquoted the price to me. Turns out the new compressor was $725 ($1300 total) so needless to say I went and got my truck. I just ordered a NEW freeking compressor from vatozone for only $368.99. Yeah, that's a new one..... Dryer/accumulator for $60 and an o-ring kit for $8. Firestone said they would take the R134 out so I could replace the comp myself and then they would recharge it for only $175. I can't believe the prices the stealership wanted...... I'm going to save $689 bones now.
-
Thanks, I wish man..... I just dropped her off with the staelership today. I was quoted $1K with a lifetime warranty. My wife complains that I have no reservations about dropping $1K on my camaro but when it comes to fixing my truck I whine. Well of course I do. No man in his right mind is goign to complain about buying something he wants, but when it comes to having to pay for fixing something, look out.

Yeah I have been without AC for a year and a half now due to the cost of parts/labor. I wish there were a rentable evacuation system so we can do our own swaps. then take it to get recharged.
-
That was my main concern........ I really don't have 1K for this... 500 maybe. Thanks for the input guys. I'll figure something out.
-
Well I have been having problems with my AC in my 03SSS for a while now and have replaced the clutch assy (band-aid I know) and the destroyed tension pulley. The compressor is garbage so my only option since I don't have the proper i.e. legal tools to replace it or the other necessary parts that must be replaced with it, is to take it to a stealership. How much do you guys think this is going to rape me for?

Removing The Front Drive Shaft

Good thing I just read this thread.......I would have been in some deep sh*t. Thanks. -
How To Make A Ss From Awd To 2wd ?
StockSS replied to Michael Halo's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
Would anything bad happen if you just remove the front drive shaft? I don't want to go 2wd, but if the OP wants to save money and gas mileage can he just do that? -
Alright I'm bringing this one back from the dead... I have an 03 SSS AWD and upgraded my brakes to the power slot 14" kit and picked up a set of Russell SS brake lines kit#672430 the same as Jim and am having the same problem. What was your solution? These things aren't cheap and I can't return them since it's past the 30day window. On the Russell package it says they are for 99-03 Chevy Silverado 4WD trucks. What gives?
-
What are you asking per set? Shoot me a PM. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the heads up fellas... JYD was trying to sell me his brackets for the 14" rotors..I'll just go with the 14" rotor upgrade kit for now I wish I could swing the 15s and the calipers.....
-
Yeah dude my brakes suck bad.... Supposedly there's a guy on gmfullsize.com that makes brackets for the C6 Z06 calipers to work on 14" rotors for $199.00. So I figured since I don't have a whole lot of cash laying around I could just go ahead and get the 14" upgrade kit from power slot and use my stock calipers until I get enough cash for the Z06 ones.
-
Cool, thanks. Can you post in this thread if the GP ever goes on? I'm going to go ahead and get the power stop 14" rotor upgrade for now. I'm kinda on a tight budget with my SSS. Eventually I'll get the calipers and the brackets for the 14" rotors.

Going OSI? I'm AF out of Andrews AFB, MD. Been in 8.5 yrs doing the federal agent gig. Currently in Iraq and cant wait to get home.... I play around with my 0 Camaro more than my SSS but I just got a billet grill for her. Looking to do Z06 brake upgrade and flex-a-lite fans as well.

I had mine custom made and I love it! Here are some pics and a small vid clip: Website

DK, are you planning on making a brake upgrade, "all inclusive" kit? Calipers, rotors, pads, lines, and brackets? What would be the overall price? This seems to be the best way to go for a brake upgrade. I've looked into power slots 14" brake upgrade kit for just the fronts and that with using the factory "shitty" calipers. Power Slot Plus Brake Kit Not a bad price but definitely not anywhere near the power of the 6 piston Z06 calipers......
-
Yep, bringing it back from the dead..... What does it cost? Will it affect towing capabilities?
-
ARe those the stock calipers and stock sized rotors?
-
Sweet deal. I'm hopefully getting one of these adapters for my birthday in a few months.
-
Dude your truck sounds sick........ ;) Very nice!
-
Man these power slots look like a great option for me. SSBC is just too damn expensive.
-
Subscribing to this thread, A budget kit is definitely what I'm looking for. The SSBC 3 piston kit with rotors front and back was like $1,744. That's insane.

It would be a bit raspy if you gut your cats and louder of course, much louder. Mine sounds great. No interior resonance except for at around 2K but, I like that! At WOT it freekin screams. Not quite as loud as my camaro but loud enough!
-
I got them put in yesterday. I would have done it myself if my welding machine wasn't such a POS! And a little sound clip:

Sweet thanks!
