Another Head and Cam Question for Old Newbie
poolystruck replied to poolystruck's topic in Engine Tech And Modification
Thanks for the advice I will give him a shot. -
Hello everyone I have been gone awhile and finally able to get back to this great site! I have about no luck, I blew a tranny last year and finally fixed it over the winter. I got a nice FLT level 5 with a Circle D 3000 stall, but wouldnt you know I get it all back together and take it for a joy ride and lighting strikes again! As I pull it back in the garage and i could hear a tapping sound! After reading thru post after post to diagnose it, its the top end. So if I am going to pull it apart to fix it I figure I would do the heads and put a cam in it as well, so as so many have asked in the past what is a good option to run. I am looking to have it be fun to drive and still be ok as a once in a while daily driver. I have Long tube headers, exhuast, 3000 stall, and level 5 FLT tranny. I am not that savy with all the technical info that I have seen on the site. I have seen some set ups with Z06 heads, others recommending trick flow. I was looking at the LS2 set up by trick flow, but it seems alot of people dont like the cam it comes with, is there anyone out there that could help me out with a good recomendation. I was looking to spend between $2k-$2500. Thank you in advance for the help.

Trans Getting Stuck In First Gear
poolystruck replied to poolystruck's topic in AWD, Differential, & Transmission Tech
Its really strange with the rpms if I am on it the truck tachs out before it will shift. If I am driving normal and I let up around 3000 to 4000 it will go into second. This morning driving it the truck went into 2nd on its own,but it dropped back into first snapping my kneckk and hit 2nd . It's really weird. Hope like you said some one else. Chimes in that may have thoughts too. Thanks for your suggestions so far. And yeah that plug is a joke, definitely going to have to drop the pan to change the fluid. -

Trans Getting Stuck In First Gear

Ran a scan tool and no codes came up fluid was pink and smells fine too. That was my mechanics thought it might be a solenoid too, but was certian since it didn't throw a code. Do you think a clogged filter would do that? -
This is my 2nd trans for this truck and of coarse I bought a used trans. Kick myself now I should have just got a flt. It was working fine for 15k miles, but it now wont shift when it is under load. If I let off the gas it will go into 2nd, and it shifts fine thru the remaining gears. I put a vette servo in back when I got it too. Any one have ideas what could be causing this issue? Thanks in advance for anyone's thoughts.

No I have one, but you will need to program it to your truck; which takes about 35 mins. to do.

I am in need of some tranny work and looking for some one local. Woburn is not to bad. When you had your tranny rebuilt was done stock or did they build it for performance? And how was their pricing? Thanks Steve

Well I had a couple of minutes today and really needed to use the bed of my truck, so I figured I try to shim it out in the middle. I had a paint stick in my garage so I loosed the pan under the gate and slid the paint stick behind to see if it helps. This is a temp solution, but it did help. It still needs to be pulled out a little bit more to clear the gate when it is all the way down, but a definite improvement.

I have the same issue and did not realize it until it was to late. I just had the truck repainted and opened the tailgate to put something in the bed and then closed it to find the scratches. It seems the tail gate has a curve to it and the bser roll pan does not because it mounts to the flat part of the bed. Some one said to put spacers. That was what I was thinking as well, to help the roll pan curve like the tailgate. I then think it should not rub. If there are any other thoughts out there post them. Also there is plenty of gap between the pan and the bottom of the gate, so moving it down will make it not line up on the sides. My 2 cents.

SOLD!!!! Just wanted to let anyone who might be still intrested, these are gone.

Here are the sizes for shipping. It would be shipping from zip 01030 to ? The width x length x height is 22 x 22 x 10 Rim only The width x length x height is 31 x 31 x 12 Rim and tire Not sure of the weight. I would estimate 35lbs and 55lbs. Hope that helps anyone who is intrested. Also again I will seperate the rims and tires. One other thing if I ship the rim and tire. I protect the rim still mounted with the tire and shrink wrap everything together, but leave it in the shape of the tire. That way it can be easily rolled around around for shipping. If anyone is seriously intrested I will go to UPS and get a quote.
