  1. or just the Part # ... I can do the criss cross.. thx.
  2. Drums.. I'm pretty sure they do.. from their catalog they sent I found out that they do have performance rotors .. they can also have them cryogenically treated. they can slot them and drill them.. You have to call for the price.. me personally - slotting rotors is good.. drilling on a truck rotors - I don't know.. I have a few friends with Corvettes and drilled rotors .. I understand they can crack at about 20,000 miles. They don't seem to mind.. I don't have that kind of money.. so I stick to just slotting and don't have the cracking problem. Drilled rotors have been around a long time.. such as with motorcycles and Porsches. might have to research that with those forums.
  3. all stock sized 17" wheels.. I need to go bigger though.. It's a sleeper. RWD and I can't get it to stick off the line . It's 5.3 s/c with other mods. Those OEM pads and shoes bite.. I actually thought my calipers were froze up once.. but they were just over heated .. they were grinding and making a bunch of noise.. the Porterfields did not give me any issues. If you order just tell them you are looking for a high performance brake pad/shoe for a large vehicle making lots of horsepower and that's it for a street application. They will make them .. they know pretty much what u want. My brother has some he put on his GTO .. he's also happy with them.
  4. Yes definetly. I rotate my tires regularly. and always take off the rear drums and clean inside. The best thing to clean with is straight water and a soft bristle brush.. I don't recommend the brake cleaner solvent. That stuff will eat up any rubber such as the dust covers and the caliper seals. water is all you need. And get some sand paper and sand off the lip on the edge so they will go back on easier. The porterfields are a nice set up they have the parking brake spring and cable like the OEM. They do not get all glazed up like the OEM. They are set in with the brass anchors. They grab well, and don't get stressed and start making overheated grinding noise. On the front I went with cryogenically treated powerslots and Porterfield pads.. I don't have any problems braking when coming down from high speeds. The OEMs I did. I did a lot of research.. Porterfield was the only company that I found that actually makes and has been producing Performance Brake shoes.. They do a lot of Race car set ups. from the new to the very old.
  5. I also have the RWD, Crew Cab. Get rid of the factory brake shoes.. they heat up and feel lousy. I searched long and hard and found Porterfield Brakes ( I think the guy I spoke to was named Angel) they will custom manufacture some shoes for high performance applications. $100.00 ...good product. they are a very reputable company and discovered they have been around a little while. They make all kinds of crazy super high performance brakes with different surface material. I think they are big with the track and race circuit. . My truck is making about 417 rwhp. I can make fast stops now without the heat and grind issues later. I also bought some for the front pads.. No issues. they also sale the Hawks and Raybestos performance brakes. But they do too. Ask them to mail you a company catalog.
  6. Mr. P - good tranny info.. you got me wondering. I have a Crew Cab with the 4L60E on a 5.3 supercharged set up.. I have a 9 1/2" 3000 stall T/C ; with 3.73 gear. GVWR of 6850 lbs. Currently running the stock trans cooler. I run Royal Purple in the tranny . My trans temperature averages 180 degrees. Is this too high or about average and Ok. ..was thinking of adding a small pusher fan in the area in front of the s/c intercooler and stock trans cooler. I just recently went through one of the $4500 headache tranny rebuilds and that's because the guy was a well recommended LS7 corvette & drag car trans builder. I'm Living in Houston, Tx. With the current hot weather of 102 degrees. I have the 160 thermostat on the engine.
  7. That's one nice truck and very detailed set up.. sad to see you have to part with it. .. I would like to ask you . Where did you find the metco pulleys.. and what size belt did you use.
  8. That would be pretty neat. How they would keep the engine light enough for a 1/2 ton suspension .. would be interesting.
  9. It did not look like you mentioned hitting your brakes. But if your hitting your brakes warped rotors or even a caliper that may be sticking can cause bad vibration problems.
  10. There are always simple handheld programmers like the Diablo Sport or the Hypertech you can get.. and they too will remove the speed limiter along with some other programming modifications. This may be all your really looking for. And from what I understand. There is always a speed limiter in place. no matter who does your programming. Some will shut down at 120, 145, or even higher if someone personally programs it for you. You should check your areas and see if there are any chevy speed shops in your area that will dyno and program your truck at the some time. Every vehicle is different.
  11. what vehicle does that come stock in?
  12. Your truck set up sounds nice.. welcome.
  13. Here's something I did for my lights.. I got the bulbzilla conversion wire kit .. and used the sylvania ultra .. high beam bulb instead of low beam bulb. very white light and it does not mess up your headlight housing.. I did the same for the wife's driving lights on her lexus and it works fine there too.
  14. Cool I'd like that. I think you need 100 posts before you can put a picture on geez. kinda new to this.. want to try and figure the site out.. I have a couple of questions to ask about driveshafts, and harmonic pulley.. the tires?? are they street cheater slicks..I can put on with the stock 17" wheels.. ( I doubt it) or would I have to get new wheels.. If that's the case I am probably going to upgrade to SS 20 " knock off wheels and tires.. What's the widest street size tire you can can put on the 8.5" stock SS 20" wheels.
  15. It is I'm pretty happy with it. Considering the numbers and I'm still able to get 14.8 in the city and close to 17 on the highway.. If I get on it, which I do often . it drops to about 14.1... It's a 2005 model, I have the original 5.3 block stock cam, Ls1 stage II MTI heads, magnacharger. 2.9 Pulley, MSD coils, MTI tune, and modified tranny, headers and hi flo cats, corsa cat back, with a 9 1/2 Tor conv. The head work and dyno was done at MTI.. was really surprised the the numbers and the way it all came together pretty easy.. It's never been to the track. One day - Not just yet. Now if I could only get the rear tires to stick.. She's a sleeper now. stock 17" wheels, running boards (I've got young children that sometimes ride with dad) and slipped on a simple single exhaust tip - instead of the pretty one corsa supplied. It's nice to mess with people head's (GTOs, Mustangs, Porsches, Lightnings) when I get on it and blow by them and all they think they see is a big ole stock truck pulling away..
  16. I want to say thanks for the post. I am a new member.. trying to get my posts up so because I have a few questions to ask.. I am not an SS owner, I needed a bit extra room, so I went for the Crew Cab. 5.3. I wish I had the AWD 6.0. The 6.0 will come in the near future.. Right now it's slightly modified. It's currently making 417 rwhp / 470 rwt.
