  1. I think my steering rack bushings are toast. Does anyone know if they are repplaceable?
  2. Well I got a OEM tranny cooler for my truck. It comes with a new upper tranny cooler line. I removed the old one, but I had to bend it to get it out (bends too easy) Anyways I was wondering if anyone had any advice for getting the new one in... Do I Drop the front cross member or the p/s rack? Thanks in advance for any help. EDIT: I got it. The trick is to unbolt the metal hardline clip that is held to the oil pan (10m) then push the wires up, that makes enough room above the crossmember to sneek the line in.
  3. The dealer was 12.00 a plug, and then monument car parts was 8$ a plug. Could I just use iridium NGK plugs? Where did you guys buy the wires from?
  4. Hey my 03 silverado 4.8 just turned over to 67k the other day. I was wondering if you guys think I should repplace sparkplug wires and or sparkplugs. I know you guys say to use the NGK tr55's. Stock is iridium... Does it matter if you use copper style ones instead of iridium? (sp) Thanks alot guys! The stock acdelco plugs are 12$ a piece

  6. Love the sound, wish I had got that instead of the flowmaster. Question, is that tire churp, or belt squeek? I put the vett servo in my truck and it does not shift nearly that fast, would that be the tune helping it shift that fast? Sounds hella good!!!
  7. I know this may be a dumb question, but can you really just put e85 in? And it will run just fine? I always thought you needed bigger injectors and a special fuel pump...

    Tool Box

    I know this is verry un-sport truck like, but I have a standard cab. There is not much space to put stuff in it. Was looking at a tool box to put in the bed, one that dosent go above the bed rails. Do any of you have reccomendations for one? / and or pix?

    there is no metal flake, its just darker than brand new atf, not burnt or anything. There was just a brownish residu on the servo's i removed, its probably stuff that was to small for the filter to filter out...
  11. Haha gotta have the flux capacitor! Mabe the gull wing doors too! Dublin is like 5-6 hours from lA depending on traffic. EDIT: I want to get the fog light kit, with the black lower valance (SP). Does anyone know if any of the fog light kits come with it? Also my bumper has a dent in it, where would you guys recommend i get one of those from, looks to be expensive!
  12. Thanks everyone for all of the replies! And thanks 05supercharged! I was thinking about doing the flat black stripes on the hood, I think that might look good. And the mirrors and door handles are a very good idea. I want to get a low profile toolbox for the back and have it powdercoated black or gray. One question, i want go get my rims powder coated black or charcoal gray, what would i do about the center caps, I think they are metal on the out side but the inside is plastic? It is cool that someone else on here is local, I'm going down to Fremont tonight; that medical center is right around the corner from my house!
  13. Took them right before leaveing for work. Just got back from 400 miles of I5, If your from california you know about how many bugs are there LOL. Anyways here they are, not that great. I want some ideas, I would love to have the front end look a littel more "mean". I put the silverstar parking lights in, not so shore I like them. littel to much rice for me. So I would love some ideas! One thing I want to know is; is there a cover for the chrome thing in the middle of the grille? Or can I have that painted?

    Trans Flush

    Yah I will be useing the Wynn's trans flush. It has the cleaner, and then the "shudder guard" conditioner... I have done 2 or 3 GM suv's with over 100k and totally burnt fluid, with no issues. I just wanted to see what you guys opinion is. I think 9 times out of 10 the trans is fine. We just hear about the ones that die. I'm going to do it tomorrow, should i use valvaline (sp) fluid or Cheveron?

    Yah thats the only thing I'm worried about, my trans shifts fine right now, the fluid is just starting to get a little darker. What worries me is when I installed the vett servo, the old servo had deposits on the bottom of the old pieces.

    Hey, I have a quick question. I work at a shop and can use the trans flush machine. I was wondering if the transmissions in these trucks don't like having their fluid changed. I have about 67,xxx miles on my truck 2wd 4l60e. When I had my BMW everyone said don't touch the fluid because it had over 100k and there is the possibility of the trans taking a crap after. I remember a while ago, we had a Transport Montana van, and the trans went out in that after gm serviced the transmission at 30k so I was just wondering what you guys thought about it.
  17. If it has gotten progressivly worse, I would say cats. And those are the origional cats with 120k on them, I'd say its verry likeley. We see cats going bad on the 5.3's and the 4.8's at work all the time with way less than 120k. You sould try hitting the cats to see if they make a rattel noise. Just my .2

  19. Well I have been lurking for a while and I finely decided to start posting. This is my first truck and also my first American car. Before this I had 4 BMW's slowly worked my way up. I am totally new to the whole American car world, so far everything is 100 times easier to work on and not to mention a lot cheaper. If anyone has any questions about BMW's let me know I am pretty good at working those. It seems like there is a lot of firefighters on here so ill say that. I am going to school to be a firefighter so if anyone has any advice for me I would love to hear about it! Any ways guys just wanted to say hi!
  20. Yah I tried removeing it completely, and it just hit the frame verry loud! Today I ended up putting on the stock shackels. So the rear is dropped 2 inches via hangers. And the front droped 1 inch via eibach springs. The truck rides 1000x better than it did before, and I reccomend the eibach for all of you who have front coil springs. Thanks so much for everyones help!
  21. I totally removed the stock bump stop, and repplaced it with a super low profile poly one. I have Beltech nitrodrop 2 shocks in the rear also. And I raised it up to 3 inches, and it still bottoms out over everything...
  22. Hey, I'm new here as well to solid rear end's... I thought I would come here to ask the question, been lurking for a while. Anyways, I lowered the rear of my 03 standard cab short bed with 2 inch beltech hangers, 2 inch shackles, and beltech nitrodrop shocks. I removed the stock bump stops and put in poly pancakes. It bottoms out over everything. So I raised the rear up one inch with a one inch drop shackle. Still the same, a little better, but bottoms out over everything. I lowerd the front with 1 inch Eibach coil springs, and nitrodorp shocks. It rides fine. It sits perfactly level right now, and I would like to keep it this way! Do you think I should put the stock shackels on, and just leave on the hangers for a 2 inch drop in the rear, and leave it 1 inch in the front? I appriciate any help in advance, this thing has been a major headache!

  24. How would you make one from raidoshack parts? does it trick the computer with a different resistance to think it has lower line pressure?
