  1. Anyone know a good source for the SS caps? My SS has a tonneau that I am getting rid of, but in order to make it work, the PO used a simple cap--I don't know what happened to the SS cap... TIA!!
  2. He's half-Mexican, and was accused of using the same comedic line as another comedian did years ago. As someone else here said, "so what?" All comedians (musicians, actors, etc.) "copy" from other greats in their arena, and to waht extent he did it is arguable. Rogan is a UFC wannabe... I don't anyone of them personally, so there is no personal interest one way or another. Carlos (how many other entertainers take stage names?!?! ) makes me laugh... so does Lopez, and Murphy, and Penn & Teller, and Seinfeld, and... well, you guys get the picture...
  3. Good luck, and glad you have some back-up. Keep your eyes sharp...
  4. That was incredibly difficult!! Both trucks are awesome!!! I never thought the blue could look so good!
  5. This SS is my first truck. Owning many motorcycles, and a BMW aficionado, I don't know how I ever got by without a truck. WTF was I thinking?!?! Want to join some friends in Yucaip for a blast up to Idyllwild? Load the Aprilia on the back of the truck, strap her down, and enjoy AC and music the 77 miles there... In the past, i would ride my bike there, get there a bit tired, ride for 200 miles (up to Idy, down to Palm desert a few times, over to Hemet, then back up over to Julian and back...), then have to ride home just absolutely drained... Spot a nice Bow Flex machine at a giveaway price at a yard sale? No worries!! Give the guy a couple bills, and load her up! My kids love the way it rumbles, my beighbors give me thumbs up, heck, even the local PD gives me thumbs up. This thing is cool, practical, and comfy--if a bit big... A man's gotta have at least one truck...
  6. On a recent trip to Phoenix, I averaged 16 MPG at about 80 MPH (some stretches I set the cruise at 85, on others, at 75, depending on the environment, enforcement likelihood, etc.). Around town, if I'm a bit agressive on the throttle, I see as low as 11.5, but under "normal" circumstances, I see around 13. I commute from Alhambra to downtown Los Angeles through some fairly stiff traffic. '04 AWD SSS K&N FIPK CAI Long Tube Headers
  7. I just want to thank Smokum for the generosity!! People like him are part of what makes owning our traucks, and sharing our information/experiences on this board, great!
  8. Eddie, depending on how pissed you are and how much you want to get back at these fooks, you can put a little effort into f*cking them over. If you have the time, visit some of those wrecking yards, looking for "nice Chevy truck parts." You might be surprised at what you find hanging on some of the walls there... Or maybe try calling a few in the area, asking for certain parts. What sucks is that most of your parts probably went straight onto another truck, but I am sure that they took more than they needed, and some of these shops may just have a few hanging around. It sure would be nice to pop some of these fooks...
  9. ...Best thing you can do is just suck it up and do it. Never mind what that other joker is doing. You'll get your job done and the hard work will be rewarded at some point. I work a 9-5 M through F. 7 hour work day. However, I was asked by a friend to help him at his night club ( a large, well-known L.A. Club), so now I'm managing their security force, which means I have to be there every Friday and Saturday night (from 8 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.), and for any special events (concerts, etc.). It took three or four weekends for me to get accustomed to the hours, and I make sure I stretch Saturday and Sunday sleep until just before noon. That seemed to help a lot. When i used to do that sort of stuff for a living, working 18 hour shifts was a joke. Now, in my mid-30's, it is more difficult--but not insurmountable. I'd venture to say that your dread is worse than the actual hours you will work... Hang in there!
  10. Hi--does the box fit under the seats? I am very interested, and in the Alhambra area (not too far from OC). Thanks!
  11. Mr. P. with respect to the Alumasports, do you mean the calipers also? Or do you think that the 2-piece Eradispeed rotors (14") up front would be sufficient? Also, I have an '04 AWD SS--are the '06 calipers better? Do they bolt right up? Can I buy the Erdaispeed rotors, then source some calipers used (much cheaper) and go with stainless lines? Anyone have a similar "retrofit" idea? Thanks!!
  12. Hey, that orange one looks like my hood! ;o) Personally, I think the SS bumper looks cleaner--though I have seen one on here (can't remember exactly who now), that had a full HID conversion and used HID fogs in place of the sliver scoops...
  13. Okay, here's a shot of the right-side header (I know, I know, it's a bit dirty in the bay at the moment, but I just got back from a drive to Phoenix...).
  14. Mine look like the Bassani, but definitely longer. I took some pics and I'll post them up in a few minutes (not great pics, but I tried!)
  15. I'll take it if you have it! I lost one of my front caps recetly. Let me know how much shipping is (I'll PM you with an address).
  16. So that's what those friggin' things are called!! LOL!! Mine has the manual version with the block-off plates and wing nuts... I haven't even bothered to see what they sound like so I may just have them "deleted" altogether, although the electric version looks tres-cool!
  17. uh, you're driving a 40k dollar truck... I agree that brakes are probably the singular most important upgrade on a vehicle like this. I'm fortunate that I bought a used truck with some thoughtful mods (could have done worse), but I would have done brakes first, no matter what. I'm trying to carefully consider my options before I buy, but, for example, Wilwoods are not out of the question--brakes are that important to me. Still, it looks like the Eradispeeds will accomplish what I want (all stop, no unnecessary bling) and at the right price. Thanks guys!!!
  18. Okay, 'nother Q-- I'm pretty sure I have LT headers (they're farily long, windy like snakes, and head off towards the tranny--BUT, there are a pair of cat's just off the tubes, and the tubes have an 02 sensor in them. I looked for all I was worth for a brand name on them, but couldn't find it. Oh, and they also appear to be ceramic coarted (they are that satiny-silver finish with absolutely no corrosion). I'll tell you, though it's nice to have bought the truck with some upgrades, it sure would be nice ot know what they were! Anyone have pics of their headers?
  19. Is it $800 for the front (pair of rotors?)? Are spacers for the calipers included? Any recommendations on pads? I just think it's stupid ot have tiney fronts and massive rear brake rotors--and how are they brake balanced at the factory to compensate for this? Just doesn't make any sense... TIA!!
  20. Yup. I posted about this in another section. Not only do my brakes look obviously too small for the application, but they also offer piss-poor performance when I need them most. I almost ass-ended an SUV who decided to jump in my lane and make an illegal left... I jumped on the brakes, then smashed as hard as I could. BARELY made it... I didn't get the nose dive, or confidence, I was looking for. Hence my quest for brakes. I was thinking about the powerslot big-brake kit, but I don't know if that would be sufficient. Why don't those that have "gone there" post with their experiences? TIA!!
  21. 3 piece wheels are a very real pain to get apart, and take expert reassmbly to put them together properly. I would have it done by a professional, who may tell you that it is not possible. I've gone through this with 3-piece BBS on a BMW. Good luck.
  22. Hi--I am very interested in this kit and really would like to know the outcome of the install. I couldn't believe how small the front rotors were on this truck--they seem smaller than the rears (optical illusion?), and are barely adequate for the job (I am accustomed to monster Brembos on my BMW). I was looking at some of the 4 and 6 piston kits, but they are terribly expensive (even more so than for performance cars--wtf?!?!), although I have seen some nice Silverado's and Escalades with these big brake kits and they look great. In any event, if you would please report back, I would really appreciate it. Also, any good pad recommendations with this kit? EBC? Hawks? TIA!!!
  23. So, does all this mean that I should get long tubes? LOL!! J/k!!! I checked mine, and.... tada! Long Tubes!!! Yeah!!!! They also have some fancy block-off plates that allow the exhaust to, ahem, be routed out BEFORE the mufflers (but after what looks to be resonators...)--it gets very loud at that point, though... In any event, there is no way this thing would pass our local smog inspections... Thank goodness for us "outlaws" that there are still some very creative people out there... I think I'll have a set of cats picked out for the next smog inspection (in two years). I figure the fun factor heavily outweighs the cost of having the cats welded-in every couple of years...
  24. Great--I'll go look as soon as I got off work. Is there any way to tell which brand I have? Thanks!!
