My Differential Went Bye Bye As Well...

what is up with all these front differentials going out? i am looking to buy an 03' ss, but all i ever here about are the differentials going bad!!! is it a bad idea to get the awd? if this many differentials are going out shouldn't they have been recalled a while ago? -

where are you located at? what year is your truck and what is the milage? -
I am currently in Iraq, but will be home in May. I've been wanting an SS for a while now. I want to buy an '05 or newer because they are 2 wheel drive. I need some feed back about models older than '05, the AWD. I've heard alot of things about the transmision's and front differential going out on the all wheel drive models. Is this true? I just need to know if I should spend the extra money on the '05 or newer? Or if I could get something older than an '05 and not have to worry about the damn thing going out on me?And if there are any other common problems people have with the older models? Thanks.
