  1. I had good luck with the PowerSlot + kit, they were the 14" rotors with relocation brackets and they held up well. I also used the Hawk ceramic pads and also felt they worked well without too much dusting. A lot of people don't like the Hawk's at all and feel they dust entirely too much and some have issues with brake noise. I never did, maybe I was lucky and maybe I bedded them in slightly different, who knows. I've never used any of the SSBC products, so I can't say one way or another how their fitment or quality is, but I would imagine they are comparable to the others available. While I've also never used them, quite a few people say the Posi Quiet Ceramic pads from Centric work well, as do the EBC Greenstuff 7000 series pads.

Thanks, sounds like you have a different set up now, do you? Did you run the stock calipers? Or up-grade ? on the plus rotor kit.

  2. Hello, right front pad went this morning. So, what is the SMART and ( Budget) way to go, and improve the stopping power.

I have done some home work. EBC geen pads ? What style and make rotors ebc /power slots/ or what about the ssbc 14' re-locating brake kit? I just want to due or invest the smart way and STOP better.Tied of getting to close to re-ending some body in front of me who makes a Bad driving error. If tou went with the ssbc kit will the stock calipers work properly with the larger rotors. Thanks Jeff

  3. I have a question regarding hardwood floors in a house. Thought maybe I could ask around here for some info. I've been looking at houses for several months now and I think I finally found what I want. The house is a foreclosure thats been empty for a little over a year now and all utilities have been turned off for that same amount of time. The house does need work and I'm not to worried about it since it's things I can do but there is one big item I'm worried about, and thats the hardwood floors.

The house has all of the original hardwoods through out the house and all of the hardwoods on the first floor are bowing at each side of each wooden plank and all the hardwoods on the second floor have spaces between each plank. I am scared that the bowing of the first floor hardwoods is due to moisture. When I looked at the house yesterday the basement and garage was bone dry and I did not smell any mildew or anything and we have had a ton of rain these last two weeks, but when I looked at the house a few weeks ago, there was a lot of water coming in from under the garage door and running into the basement.

Could the bowing of the hardwoods just be from the house being closed up for 15 months with no heat or a/c and the house not being able to breath or could there be a lot more hiding? Any thoughts you may have would be of great help.

Here is a pic of it.

  6. from leftlanenews.com:

It seems like every day there is some headline involving the economic downturn and at least one of the major automakers, but very rarely is there anything on the smaller manufacturers. But even the little guys are feeling the economic strain, with Saleen recently announcing that its operations are up for sale.

Saleen is best known for tuning Ford products, but also produces the S7 supercar and has plans to produce the S5S concept shown at last March's New York Auto Show. In addition to working on its own creations, Saleen also built the GT for Ford and has a hand in the production of the Dodge Viper.

The automaker has been in a bit of turmoil since Hancock Park Associates purchased a majority stake in Saleen in 2004, which ultimately lead to the departure of Steve Saleen, the company's founder. High gas prices and the recent economic downturn have further eroded the business, leading to the 'For Sale' sign in Saleen's front yard.

According to Automotive News, Saleen's board is hoping for a quick sale, with a time table for a signed deal set for early next year. Saleen isn't wasting any time getting the ball rolling as it has already sold 20 Ford Mustang GTs, office equipment and factory equipment at auction.

  7. The track is on US-131 near Grand Rapids. I think it's US-131 Motorplex? Someone will chime in with exact name. Zippys is in Muskegon. Most of us are staying at the Best Western in Grand Haven. Take I-96 west to the 104 exit to Grand Haven and follow the signs. Hotel is about 2 miles down on US-31 (Beacon Street) on the right. Very easy. It's right near Lake Michigan.

I'll be there Thursday pm. If you get in the area and still need directions to find us you can call me on my cell. 734-756-4143.
