  1. It's amazing what people can be convinced of!

Isn't that the truth. I'm stunned sometimes when I hear what some folks fall for. Barnum had it right when he said there is a sucker born every minute. Which reminds me.....anybody out there want to buy my new book, " How to purchase and completely mod out a brank new SS for under $5,000?

  2. ~sniff~ Thanks, QM. I don't know what to say (rare condition for me). You made my day, buddy. ;) ;) ;) And my day today was one of those you like to forget.....Murphy's Law and all that.

Thanks to you also George.

  3. Did that so often I disconnected the heated seats. Living in Phx it's not something I would ever use anyway. Some day, when I sell it, I'll let the buyer know how to re-connect. ;)

  4. THE STATE TROOPER PULLED ME OVER @ 75 IN A 55"
    That beats my 77 in a 65

Ouch. :sigh: I really sorry to hear about those "fun little meetings." I have made my once every two years trip to the Defensive Driving School here in AZ to get a ticket off the books and I can't go again until May of '05. Problem is that I have had two very close calls since then. It was just the luck of the draw that saved my butt from yet another ticket. I have just GOT to quit buying vehicles that are made to drive fast....................................................nah.

  5. Michael (or anyone who has knowledge of those elect. connectors)

I went out there is morning to disconnect that green connector under the drivers seat. No such luck. Even putting the seat in the forward most position there is very little room to work under the seat and I could not get the connector to separate. Generally there is some kind of "locking clip" that holds the male and female ends together but I could not see it.

Any suggestions and getting them apart? Thanks

  6. Michael,

Thanks. I'll disconnect the green "thingy" and test it out. I appreciate all your help, buddy.

    Zip-man,

Thanks for the heads-up on any "fixs." I didn't know GM was aware that this was even a problem. I'll look for your follow-up on that. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

  7. Thanks, guys. Unfortunately disconnecting anything that will disable other functions like the memory seat are not worth it. I'd be losing more than I've gained.

    Michael,

Thanks for the suggestion and picture (especially the picture). I found the green connector but so far have done nothing. Disconnecting it to disable both seats looks like a bo brainer. What concerned me was the statement:

CAUTION!! disconnecting these connectors will set DTC's in seat module computer
Unfortunately, I don't understand the statement "will set the DTC's in seat module computer." Will disabling that connector affect any other functions in the truck? Thanks Michael.

    Dale,

I'm on my way. I like new wire cutters MUCH better than old ones. It'll be worth the drive.

  8. I will see if a co-worker of mine can look it up tomorrow on the GM service site.

    Thanks, Ken.

Your lucky to live somewhere warm enough to consider doing that

Yeah, MN. Phoenix does have a few advantages over other places I've lived like Phila, Detroit etc. Our 72 degree "winters" rank right at the top of that list. :D

Pulling the fuse sounds like a good idea to me or you could unplug the connector under the seat.

Thanks SInister and Matt. Disconnecting the wires under the seat is a great idea Sinister. I'll take a look this morning.

just learning not to hit the button sounds like a better idea to me

Not to me. That's why I asked the question. Thanks for the suggestion that I have better "hand management," though. Very helpful.

  9. Yeah, me too. :P The only thing that saves my butt is experience. The last four vehicles of mine have had a key hidden on the outside for just those days. It only took having to break out one window many years ago in Atlanta to learn that lesson.

What I have to quit doing in this SS is accidently hitting that damn heated seat button on the drivers door. Done that twice now and I LIVE IN PHOENIX!!!! The LAST thing thisvehicle needs is heated seats!!!! The first time I did it I got back in the truck, started her up and was motoring down the hwy thinking how much the sun had heated the seats while it was parked. And the more I drove the hotter the seats got and I was cursing leather seats until I finally realized what had happened. Even then it took about 20 minutes for those babies to cool down again.

Did I mention I live in Phoenix and DON'T need HEATED SEATS........even in the "winter." It's 72 degree's around here in the "winter." :jester::jester:
