i thought the converter was only needed when changing the headunit. The amp i am using for the sub has a high or low volume input.

I want to splice into the stock speaker lines for an amp and single sub. I was wondering where is the best place to splice in and what color wires should i splice into. I assume under the console storage is the best place to access the wires? I want the rest of the stereo to work normal. I have a 2003 SSS with Bose. Thanks.

i had the same problem and it ended up being water in my trailer light socket. The lid kept moisture in the socket causing a short. I just dried it out and put a couple of those silica packets that come in food and electonic packages. I think the water may have caused my cruise control to think i was hitting the brake.

I spoke too soon.... The radio worked for a few hours and quit after i shut the truck off.. Do you know what the specific part # is for the amp? 6 minutes?! Do i take the console "basket" out, along with the cup holder part? There seems to be a metal bracket in the way. Can i access the bolts without removing any more of the console? Thanks

I solved the problem and it was too easy. I went to start it the othrday and the battery was dead. The battery in the truck was going bad. I had enough juice to get it started the past few days. I took the battery out of my broken camaro and everything is dandy! Im just glad i didn't have to spend money!

I have the factory bose single cd/tape deck stereo in my 2003 SS. The radio started to sound like static popping and the volume levels went low. Now i have zero sound, warning chimes etc... Is it my amp? I did some searches and found info about reprogramming the radio. I had no idea that the bose stereo was this complicated with so many various types of amps depending on the interior etc. I also see that its a real pain to get at the amp or try to bypass it. I was totally happy with the factory sound. Does anyone know how i can troubleshoot this? Do i hook it up to a scanner or something? I checked the fuse, and it was fine. thanks!

i have a guy to do the rebuild, now i have to figure out how to take the tranny out and put it back in. This might be a job to steep for me... but to pay someone to do it will be steeper i think.

anybody have a ballpark figure for the labor cost on changing the 3-4 clutch pack? money is tight for me, and this is my daily driver..

took the SSS to the strip and after my quickest run (14.32), The truck would shift into 3rd, and nothing. I had to drive it home in 2nd gear 100 miles doing 45mph @3300rpm. Temps were good and fluid looks okay. Is it a band? I can hear a vacuum type whistle sometimes when it is reving in 3rd..

I think i figured out this mystery of the phantom cruise control.... I just encountered this problem last week and thought it was the switch in the stick. Fuse was good too. I searched the forum and found this thread. PimpSS gave me a clue about hooking up trailer lights and the problem goes away. I opened my trailer lights spring loaded cover and there was standing water in it from moshing in the snow. The cover held the water in, giving a short for the braking lights.. I opened the cover and dried it the best i could with a rag. I took some uncle bens instant rice and stuffed it in there to absorb the moisture (no wire dry handy) It did the trick!!! I then used some electric contact cleaner and some wire dry... let me know if this works....

Yeah, i like that idea... No drill holes. Motorized would be cool, but i don't have the time or money to cobble one of those together. Thanks

thanks. I posted this question on a couple of forums, and ppl think im such a cheap ass for not buying a new kit. I already have 4 different types of quick detail spray. IMO the "Mothers" stuff is the worst. Its like spraying water. I like the Meguiars ultimate, and Black magic the best.... they smell better too.

do i have to drill holes to mount the bracket?

I just got my plates in the mail today. I don't know if the previous owner filled the holes or removed the bracket or what, but there is nowhere to mount my front plate. I wouldn't mount it if it wasn't a law here in WI. How is it mounted stock? I can see that i could get some spacers and go through the lower grill maybe? Any ideas? Pics would be good. Thanks!

Hey, im not that much of a cheapskate...well maybe. I was just wondering what kind of clay is used. I have plenty of the quick detail spray. I just don't want to spend $15 for another bottle of detail spray and some clay that is only $2 if i can get the same type elsewhere. I would also like to have a few bars of clay on hand in case i drop it on the ground. Thats just like dropping $10 in the fire if i have to buy another clay kit everytime. I just want to buy a pound of the clay in bulk. Any ideas????

I had the meguiars clay kit for cleaning my paint surface. It includes some detail spray and a small peice of semi-soft clay. It works great, but i lost my clay bar. Can i just use modeling clay? I don't feel like spending $15 for a bottle of detail spray and a hunk of cheap clay.

I guess this is a good problem to have, but i cant use my little cubby-holes located underneath my radio. Everytime i hammer on it, my stuff in the cubby-holes will fly out into the cup-holder console. Its becoming a distraction everytime it shifts into second. I would like to use the storage space, but i need some ideas what you guys have done to fill that area (GPS, DVD, back-up monitor, etc..) Show me some pics for ideas. One more thing; How can i replace the little rubber drink grabbers in the cup-holders? Im missing a few.

Thanks for the comments. I really like the new Tundra though. His is pretty loaded. I like how the back window rolls down just like a side window. After our races, he started looking at mods for the 'Yota.... It cost alot of money to mod that thing! He wants to hook up log chains now and have a pull off. I declined since he has a 10000lb. towing capacity to my 6500lb's... I will give him that one! Im trying to set up race with a new guy i work with. He has a reg. cab, Hemi, Dodge "super-bee" Ram. Its got a CAI, computer tune, cat-back and some good plugs/wires... His mods are about the same as mine. Im thinking it should be a good race. I will try to get video of that one... Here's video treat for ya. I have a camera mount in my Camaro. I made this vid of me street racing my buddy (the same one that owns the Tundra) haha. I wasnt spraying, but i still pwned him.

My buddy has crew-cab 2008 Tundra. Its got the 5.7 and just a K&N filter. I thought this would be a good race because "Motor-Trend" says it will run 14.7 stock. The previous owner of my truck ran 14.8 @93mph. We raced 3 times from a dig and I owned him out of the hole. I had about a truck and a half on him when i shifted into second, and we stayed at that pace until the end. On the last race, i let him go, and i reacted when i saw him leave. I was still able to beat him by a fender. I was happy since i only payed about 1/3 of the price he did for his truck. Im thinking Toyota must give the magazine test guys faster than normal, "stock" trucks to test. Motor Trend also tested a stock, 300hp 05 mustang GT and ran a 13.5?!
