  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Venture_G...00_transmission doesn't say anything about 2003, anyone know if my 2003 Silverado 2500 (not HD) has this?
  2. What's an easy way to tell if i've got a 14 bolt?
  3. Anyone know what wheatly changes, VE table? Spark advance? MAF freq vs airflow?
  4. Where have you seen people filling with straight oxygen?
  5. Its gas mileage you're after? Get hptuners ($650 for the one with wideband inputs), and a wideband (plx afr for $180). Go to a dyno ($100/hr) and get your VE table dialed in. Turn off closed loop so that your truck is not running on the o2 sensors. Go to the commanded open loop fuel ratio, set it at 15-16:1 at low map values, or dial in lean cruise. I saw my air fuel ratio up around 16 doing this. When I step on it it drops to 13:1, then during low load levels it leans out to 16:1. You can also bump up your timing, each degree of timing can yield 5hp. I know the stock table on mine was so absurdly low that I actually had spark knock from too little timing. Bump it up keeping the stock geometry until you encounter knock-retard, then back off where the knock happens.
  6. Here's my opinion which might stir the pot... Air is already 78% Nitrogen, so when you're buying "Nitrogen" you're just getting air without the oxygen/co2 and other trace gases. Its something nice, has its benefits, but is it worth paying more for? In my cheapskate life, nahh. Others with more money perhaps.
  7. My dad mentioned to me that a detroit locker would probably wear my tires out going around the corners in the city. Anyone know how much slip they allow?
  8. I was thinking of getting some and this definitely solidifies the decision. Anyone know if stock the truck comes with an open differential or some type of limited slip?
  9. I've got a 2003 Silverado 2500 5spd LQ4, 2wd. It seems to be putting out some hp after CAI, exhaust (cherry bomb extremes ) and hptuners tune and a 100shot. I can't seem to hook up the tires even on motor, then with the spray it spins them all the way through second gear. What can i do? Anyone know if my truck comes stock with any kind of posi? Would adding something like a detroit locker help? I've noticed sometimes only one tire spins, sometimes both, but usually one. I'm thinking some DOT drag radials, 17320 or 17325 hoosier's. Weight transfer? I'm not sure what can be moved from the front to the rear, but it seems like it'd help quite a bit. I know when I have the truck up on the lift its very front heavy.
  10. I've got an 03 Silverado 2500 that I'm turning into a drag truck (its on the spray already), and I was wondering what you folks thought of the stock exhaust from the headers to the back of the cats. The stock muffler is definitely getting replaced. I'm probably also going to put on some headers at some point. I wanted to keep the stock exhaust from the end of the headers to the end of the cats, but on the drivers side bank where the exhaust goes over some frame crossmembers, they smushed it down to about an inch of height from the factory. Could this be why my bank 1 LTFT is different by like 3-4" from my bank2 LTFT? It seems as though if you had the same surface area even though its smushed, it wouldn't matter... or would it?
  11. Lots of people remove the MAF completely and run just off the tables in the VCM (VE tables / speed density mode). GM doesn't spend much time getting the volumetric efficiencies right, that's why they throw the MAF in there. They get the VE tables "close enough" then throw in the MAF and narrowbands in combination with the trims to get it the rest of the way towards accurate.
  12. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-03-04-CH...sspagenameZWDVW So I'd need the above and: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-02-CHEVY...sspagenameZWDVW Besides wiring/connectors, is that all I need? thx for the replies guys!
  13. I've got an 03 silverado that has the lowest trim package and thus hand crank windows. One window is acting up (doesn't want to go up or down) and I figured this would be a good oportunity to make the upgrade. Other than the trim panel, would the scissor mechanism bolt right in place of the hand crank unit? Will I find a connector in there, or would it be omitted on my vehicle? thanks!
  14. There was some gunk in the throttle body, but after it was cleaned out the problem continues. Anyone have ohm or voltage numbers on what the accelerator position sensor should be spitting out. My haynes manual just says to take it to a dealer or certified repair shop for this problem (they tell you how to rebuild the motor, but probing a sensor is something for a shop ) Is anyone thinking it could be the injectors? Thanks for replying, Derek
