  1. IMAO, the magnacharger s/c's are the most complete kit and are designed for the stock motors. After I put mine on, I ended up

getting better mpg on the highway.(that's when my foot is out of it)..

its probly on here somewhere but slapping one on a stock(ish) motor, how much of a real increase of power do you get? or basically what times would you be running?

  2. How much are the air compressors at Home Depot? -The reason I'm asking is because I want to covert one into a supercharger for my SS.

I figure $350 beats $5,000 for a Radix. After that I think I will try the carbord intake and the vent duct snorkel mod. Thanks for the ideas!

    P.S. I quit.

Ya...well not everyone is made of money

  3. Did something VERY similar years ago on my SS. Hell that type of set up is even called the "SUX2BU ram air" set up over on LS1Tech. Lots of people laughed but i laughed last when i swapped my fast toys ram air for this ram air. I added about 120 lbs in rollbar, re installed the A/C ands still dropped a tenth and gained 1 mph.

I was just pokin around at home depot, saw the vent then the idea grew from there, on top of that I was really bored that day :jester: . Ghetto lookin or not, most important thing is my WALLET is laughin!

  4. damn coincidence, I just home depot'ed my ram air two days ago, and just saw this thread. Mine came out pretty damn good for under 20 bucks, and could tell a difference. I have a volant intake but didnt have the ram air tube, and those cost way too damn much for what it is. Here's what I did:

Home depot plumbing section, couldnt believe I found that "stack boot"- was perfect

Now this isnt the flimsy crappy dryer hose, its semi-rigid hose so it forms to the way ya want it and STAYS that way

    photo.jpg

Add two 4 1/2" hose clamps and ya got all you need :D

Took my right SS bottom vent out and popped off the clips that hold the mesh grille in, well...broke off the clips but was replacing them with nuts and bolts anyways

    DSCN0257.jpg

trimmed the folding flaps off the "stack boot" with some snips

    DSCN0260.jpg

Marked and drilled 4 holes in the stack boot and mounted to the vent using the original 4 holes for the grille

    DSCN0263.jpg

Using a hose clamp, routed and mounted the flexible piping to the bottom of the airbox

    DSCN0264.jpg

    aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnd end result

    DSCN0265.jpg

The routing of the piping which I didnt take pics of is damn near a straight shot down and a 90 degree bend to the vent, cant really use a rigid hose because it has to "S" a little bit over the fender well. The ONLY small problem I had was having to cut slits in the one end of the 4" hose and crimp it down with the hose clamp to adapt to the roughly 3 1/4" inlet into the box. I'm gonna pull it back out, paint the vent and hose black and put the grill back in so it looks better. Works great too, I can definately tell a difference, havent been able to read IAT's or anything tho.

  5. You can get a full 2" out of keys, but you need to buy alignment bushings. The spindles really are your best bet. Just make sure you get mcgaughys spindles cause the belltechs throw your front end geometry off! I'm running a 3/5 on mine with no c notch and it does bottom out some, but as long as you dont haul anything you should be ok. If you haul a trailer or load anything in the back, Count on getting it notched.

howso? I got belltechs on mine

  6. Makes 'kinda' sense, but I guess the people in the back seat are ****ed.

Who would have backseat passengers in a new camaro? :P I know I wouldnt

This is something that would happen to me, so I can understand how the guy feels lol

  7. IMO it's not worth it. I just keep a gauge in my truck and check every now and then. The sensors are really easy to break when your tires are being removed or put on the rim, I've broken quite a few even though I was being extremely careful not to. Granted the place usually will reimburse/replace it, but it's a hassle. Also that gauge display would be more clutter in the interior

  8. A window switch is an electronic device that will turn something ON between two RPM points (an RPM 'window') - in BroBrad's case he has installed a window switch that switches on his nitrous injection system at 2800-RPM, and turns it off at 5800-RPM; this prevents engine destruction from activating nitrous too soon, prevents over-revving the engine, and prevents the nitrous from spraying while the transmission is changing gears.

    Mr. P.

ooooohh gotcha  . makes it safer to use spray, makes sense, still dont think I'd use it tho lol

  9. I was curious on the opinions on what would give you a better launch. I have a Maggie and those launch hardest from idle...BUUUUUUUUUUUUT I also have a 75 shot on my truck as well set to kick in at 2800 RPMS..so my question is....Would I get a harder launch and better 60 fts. leaving it the way it is...or....change the window switch to 2700 rpms(not sure how to set that) and stall it up to 2600 and launch it that way...

    Opinions? Has anyone tried this?

window switch? sorry I'm a noob to automatics and launching them, can someone elaborate? hell I havent even taken my truck to a track yet

  10. Damn that's a big dog! Bull Mastif, Great Dane, St. Bernard??

chocolate lab, looking at him he looks fully lab but my family says he's probly got some bull mastif in him. Was found on a highway, obviously overfed and could tell was mistreated, he was 155 pounds when the shelter found him

  11. U.S. Army for 8.5 years, combat engineer. I will bid my 10th MTN bretheren a farewell in a few weeks and return back to the 54th family for awhile to finish up my third tour in Iraq. Three tours in Iraq and one in Korea. Never in one place for too long but enjoying the travel. Can't wait to get back to Texas. I love serving my country and want to say thank you to all the others that do the same.

cant wait to get back to texas either...miss the place so much, but instead I'm in ohio dealing with their winters :fume: . I'm originally from belton/temple

  12. How do you cleant the MAF? Its acts likes its missing.

take it out, and spray the hell out of the inside with brake/parts cleaner, that's how I do it anyways. My guess is the MAF is ur problem, whether it's just dirty or you need a new one, especially if it acts like it's missing

  13. I would love to frankie but i dont really have a good place to do it and dont feel comfortable trying to do it by myself .

I can understand the not having a place to do it, but it really is self explanatory once you dig into it. The shackles are retarded easy. I tackled mine having slim to none knowledge on suspension, couldnt even point out a torsion bar to anyone at that time if I tried :yellow_loser: . Only thing I messed up was cuttin the bumpstops a little short
