what do u guys recomend to clean the pistons? its just carbon biuldup...

tonght i finalllllly got it off the trailer... i was able to buy my stand and my buddy dropped off his hoist for me to use. also i spent some time on it tearing it down.... now i can get my parts ready for powder coat!

well i went nuts and tore the whoel thing down....so i kud fix the broken bolts in the heads....(my buddy is taken it to his dealership to it, he cudnt exactly take the whole engine into work) and i wanted to clean it up a lil bit paint a few things and powdercoat a few. i wud use factory bolts but if im putting money into headers i dont want some rusty old bolts holden em on!

looking for a few part numbers to make an order on monday! its for my new 6.0l.... i need to get new head gaskets, valley cover gasket, oil pan gasket, water pump gasket (if there is one for it!?), oil dipstick tube, head bolts, is ther a bolt kit for the entire engine out there? also wat do u guys recomend for new header bolts....i herd stage 8 arp's are good to get?

yea that doesnt but with a red block and valve covers....kinda importish... i tyhink i might be going with black....

thanks for the help man! wat wud teh 145 alt. be coming off??? with my cam...i want some kinda mpg...im not wantin to make this thing a total gas guzzler! i kno its a v8 and it will use gas im lookin for a civic 31 mpg by anymeans but descent is all i want. im not rrllly to sure wat the converter is going to do? i hafta resaerch wat it dus so i kan see wat i need...

i guess ill start my build thread now! i picked up my 2004 lq4 on monday. it has 45xxx miles. my plans are to make it a strong street motor. not rlly lookin to go to the track every weeknd with it....jus have some fun around teh streets. rite now ive got a 2004 silverado reg. cab short bed. its a w/t edition so its got that oo so popular 4.3l v6. in the past three days ive torn it down pretty quick....i have the intake off, alt. bracket off, ac bracket off, coil packs off, and now the drivers side head. the drivers side head has one bolt in the back cracked off in it so my buddy is gonna help me out and install a helicoil in it for me! next will be to have my valve covers and valley cover powdercoated gloss black. any one know how to get the valve cover bolts out without destroying the rubber gromets??? im interested in doing a pully....any good ones?? also wher can i get the 145 alternator for the efan kit?? im also lookin into what a good cam would be for it....any input???? as for now ive only got a few pics but this will be a fun biuld and illl try to get some more pics tomro!!

yea chase i kno its not as open to see...but since its an engine out of a truc k if figure i might as well make it look as good as i can...i like those valve covers!!

yea... i like the orange idea...maybe just a lil mix of red in it...with black to darken it up....i jus red a thread on pt.net and a kid did solid bright ornage with black brackets and valve covers. it looked nice but the orange was rllllly onboxious

i hate red...so im gonna start off with sayin no to that....makes me think import wen i see all red under the hood... i like black, and the lsx engine block orange they always picture it in....but ive seen a few done with a silver/grey color also! i plan on painting the brackets powdercaoting the valve covers, (valley cover???? the plate under the intake...) and painting the block. let me know ur thoughts always apreciate it!!!
