Probably wouldn't have made any difference. The car just disintegrated. His saving grace was the fact he was thrown from the car.
one part of the point I was making..... Even If the car stayed in one piece It wouldn't have been a good situation....Just talkin about the difference between technology then vs today...If he didn't hit the bridge things would have been different

I have no story of encounters like this but I wanted to share something based on stormchaser's story... I am 25 and was raised in a US Air Force family, My parents didn't force me to get a job until after High School(to better focus on school). Fast forward a little(to not bore you) I am currently going to school in AZ and my parents are helping me with my bills(apreciated but not wanted). They have never had to help me with anything I wanted or needed until now.Sorry Alan not tryin to jack the thread..

Actually while talking to some of the guys we were hopeing to do the car show every sat, (the show is there every sat starting at 5pm) then go to speedworld or something else...

I'm gonna be In Phoenix from Monday to Thursday, on work though, otherwise I would want to meet the AZ crowd! Still can if anyone is down to get dinner one night.
Also keep your eyes open for any Blue SS's for sale there, I'm looking at one there right now.
I am off from work on monday and any time after 6 on tue just let us know where and when...

I heard about this back in 08 when it happened... there is actually a hook on the "T hook" that the cable is attached to.. you gotta lift up on the assembly and swing the hook out of the way then it will drop..
