As it turns out, all you have to do is unplug the senser behind the plastic cover and the wipers work normally on the pulse setting. My earlier claim of a code was due to my wife not cranking the fuel filler cap tight enough. WR Dave.

Has anyone found a good way to trick the BCM into thinking the windshield is wet so the pulse wipers will work when I want them too, not when the computer thinks the window is wet enough. I tend to like the window wiped long before the computer does. They work the way they used to (manually set to the pulse speed you desire) when the senser is unplugged, but it kicks a code. I don't know about you guys, but I find this automatic option kind of a PITA. WR Dave
