To all of you guys with the famous front end growl/grind. If you are under warranty, just keep bitching. The GM engineer told my dealer to order a new front diff from GM after failed attempts at just replacing parts. The dealer called today, and said the GM front diff is discontinued, so they ordered me a complete front diff from Jasper, which I have wanted all along. I hope problem solved, since my truck has been in the shop for almost two months.

My 04 sss has not had any problems with the gauges and it has 54xxx miles . But It wouldnt matter much, its been at the dealer for over two months with the front diff run around. Thats right, I said over two months.

Drain the fluid, and look at all the metal shavings coming out. Trust me, you will have them stuck to your drain plug too. Our diffs are problem plagued to say the least. Go to search, and type in front diff, then read read read

Stock SS wheels?

I have to disagree with ya FireRescueSS, not every AWD vehical makes this noise, and too many of SS owners in here have that noise with the chewed up bearings, metal shavings, and bad parts to boot. It is clearly a bad front diff problem. Hell, some people on here are on their 2nd, and 3rd front diff with low miles. No bad blood Fire, just my 02. I'm not new to cars and trucks, just new to the site.

Well, GM refused to install the Jasper front diff under warranty. The dealer tried to convince them . They told my dealer to install a new spider gear instead. Here we go again.
