  1. What year corvette servo is it? Dose anyone have a part number I'm going to get it at the GM dealer.

""* servos - in simplest terms, a servo is a hydraulic plunger, or a part that will move when you pump fluid into it. When a servo is "energized" it clamps down on a band or clutch, which in turn grabs the intended gear; when it is de-energized it relaxes and releases its grip on the gear. GM makes an improved 2nd gear servo (used in the Corvette) that makes the 2nd gear friction material clamp down on 2nd gear with much more force eliminating clutch slippage. Also, several aftermarket companies make servos from billet aluminum capable of delivering serious pressures ("billet servos"), making the band or clutch grab its gear with a true death grip.""

As far as a part number I dont know. But I am sure you can find it much cheaper on ebay!

  2. Ok I think I need to clarify myself a bit here. I'm sure Wheatley tunes are amazing, I see all the followers of his on the site. If they weren't up to par with something like a Blackbear tune Im sure somebody would have pointed that at out by now. With all the meets and comraderie(sp?) between soo many people on this site I can only assume that a great number of people are very firmiliar with the work of both tuners. The only thing I was attempting to point out is that in person tunes have advantages. For all I know, Wheatley may do in person tunes too- I've just never heard about it. I simply prefer the luxury of the tuner himself being in the vehicle. That assures to me that the tune I got is the best he can offer for my specific truck and my specific wants. I have no doubt that a Wheatley tune would be very similiar if it was done in person. However, without that person helping I would be left wondering if certain aspects could be improved upon. Blackbear offers mail order tunes just like Wheatley. Now those, I would bet, are extremely similar. Both are good, experienced tuners that people trust. It's like comparing 2 different kinds of apples: both are different and yet similar, but not everyone is going to like the same one. It's all personal preference. I hope this accurately describes my thoughts. Bottom line for me is, if I am going to spend a lot of money on something, I want to be as comfortable as possible with the quality of the service. In person tunes offer that comfort to me as opposed to mail order tunes. Sorry for the length

Wheatley did my in-person tune and did the same thing as you stated. I sat in the passenger seat and he went to work on the laptop. Drove around stopped a few times until it was right where he wanted it.

  3. Just got the truck back from the shop after having a transgo kit / vette servo and accumulator pistons. I did not get on it from the shop home but from what I felt...I like! It is defiantly now a very quick and firmer shift. I will have to see what she will do once I get it retuned.

In addition I am just wondering if I should go easy on it for the first 100miles or so. The shop did not say anything about going easy on it but I have a little voice in my head saying there are new parts in there and they may need to break in first. Any input on this would be appreciated.

And a big thanks to all who helped me piece all of the parts together! Much appreciated!

  4. I got the shift kit from Summit and the servo off of ebay. I should be geting the grand total today but he said 150 for the shift kit and an extra 25 for the servo. Should be around 200 hopefully since I supplied my own fluid.

edit: the kit was about 78 bucks from summit and the servo was 15 off ebay. You may also want to look at getting aluminum accumulator pistons as well, here is a thread you can read over and see which ones you need.

  5. I am about to purchase some lt headers and i was wondering which ones to go with? Should i get the pacesetters with ceramic coating and no cats or the obx set up with their high flow cats. Any opinion would be greatly appreciated and i also did search im narrowed down to these two. Thanks guys

I am running Pacesetters with ceramic coating and magnaflow high flow cats and I really like it. I'm sure others will chime in with their opinions just letting you know what works for me. Best of luck man!

  6. Oh why would he do that SuperSlowSS? Why would he be mindful? Everyone is doing it and there is no point to it as the super-genius WICKEDOWSIX says. AND ITS FREE!! He sounds so logical and intelligent, maybe you can help out why it might not be a good idea!

Not getting into any of the above arguments. Just putting my 2 cents out there. :smash:

  7. I believe most everyone on this site has done this mod regardless of location. Its a free mod so why not do it....

:withstupid: Before this thread gets locked, I would say go ahead and do it. I guess just be mindful if you are going to be running it in a very cold climate.

  8. im going to just weld up some straight pipe until i can find a shop that will weld in the new fake cats... i can deal with a small exhaust leak on the top side of each pipe alot better than how crazy loud it is right now.

There is a guy down here in Kemah that I went to who said if I planned on running no cats ..."thats fine, it's between you and the law." So there is at least one person in TX who will do it lol

  9. Even in a controlled location, such as a track, accidents due happen.

:withstupid: About a year and 1/2 back I saw a dude on a bike about to run... Started burning out, lost control while letting off and hit the ground hard. About 30min later Life-Flight landed to take him to the hospital. Anything can happen..
