  1. SHOULD I HAVE TAKEN THE PLATE OFF ON THE BOTTOM TO GET MORE AIR FLOW? HAS ANYONE DOES THIS?

I took mine out. The more air you can get in and the quicker you can get it in, the better.

You might want to reroute your radiator hose. Its turning your cold air intake into a hot air intake

I have the same problem with my cai. May just be something associated with low dollar cai kits.

  2. Went ahead and went to town with a couple of cans of plastidip. Here's what I came up with. Sorry for the cell phone pics.

Also finally got around to finishing my emblems. I painted the GMC on the grill and tailgate, but the VortecMax emblems wouldn't take paint for some reason. A long overdue huge thanks to idahoBLKss for cutting up some custom gloss black inlays to fit the Max part of the emblem. Perfect fit and looks awesome. Here's a before and after.

And one more pic with my K5 that I had to get rid of. Man I miss that thing freak3.gif

  3. Those turned out great. Does anybody know how good this paint and clear will hold up in the long run though compared to actual paint out of a gun? I've heard rattle can clear ends up either turning yellowish or starts flaking after a while...

  4. I'll be there. I go every year to the fall and spring rod runs. if you've never been before, you need to come check it out. no matter what your taste is, there's something for you. there's a lot of stuff from the 60s and 70s and some older stuff. the diesel crowd has really started showing up the past several years. usually a good amount of awesome diesel trucks there as well.

probably the most fun you can have at a car show. miles of badass rides and a lot of fun people.

  5. thanks for all the compliments. i can't wait to start fiddling around with it. naturally you can't leave anything the way you got it.

found the original factory owners manual, maintenance schedule, and warranty information in the glove box. it was originally bought at reeder chevrolet in knoxville...kind of cool to find a truck that has stayed local and not been beat all to hell.

if ya ever need any TBI motor help let me know....been inside and out of em more times than not haha

i'm hoping i'm not going to have to tear into it anytime soon, but i'll give you a shout if i do. not in the immediate future but maybe on down the road i'd like to throw a mild cam in it and maybe do a few other things. have you done any tuning for the tbi motors? i haven't read up on anything yet....but is it a pain or relatively simple?

Love it. I had a 81 K5 and I beat the crap out of it. Love to see some good ole TN landscape too. Congrats brother

thank you sir. there's not much i've seen that can beat the mountains in east TN. gotta love it. +1 for another tennessean!

  6. Finally picked up something for a dd. Its a 1989 K5 Blazer Silverado. Power windows, power locks, a/c, cruise control, everything works. TBI 350 with the 700r4...i think. Mechanically solid, but the body needs some work. The rockers are rusted through, the rear fenderwells have some rust, and the tailgate does too. Other than looking a little rough on the outside, everything else seems to be good so far. here's a few pics.

  7. ...i finished this up this summer but never got around to posting some pics.

big thanks to Jon (idahoBLKss) for making the custom decals to lay into the vmax emblems. top notch product with a very easy to work with guy. had the stickers on for 6 months and no peeling or fading after plenty of sun and washes.

    anyways, here are some pics.

here's the painted tailgate emblem and the vmax tailgate emblem before putting the sticker on

  8. The previous owner painted my wheels black, I would like to trade for a set of stock SS wheels. The wheels are in excellent condition. I live in central VA

i don't have the ss wheels, but factory gm 20 x 8.5 chrome rims. i think they became an option for the ss in '06, but not sure? any interest in trading for mine? wheels are in sig pic
