  1. nice truck, so what CID did you decide on?

Well due to my money situation I was not able to get a stroker kit. So I had the block punched .030 and got a set of Diamond forged pistons and scat forged rods. Had the stock crank turned. New std. volume high pressure oil pump and a new set of Manly stainless valves. All block work was done by Hatfields Racing in Joplin,Mo. Deck surfaced, bored, honed and all balancing. Valve timing, ETC.

I guess a 364 bored .030 over would be about a 369 or 370 C.I. I have not been able to get my new Quick Fuel carb adjusted. It runs really rich and I haven't drove it very far. I don't want to ruin the rings or get a bunch of fuel in the oil. I have ordered a new carb from Pro Systems.

  2. nice truck man. ive always loved that truck ever since i saw it... i live in joplin. ur truck use to set on 7th street at that shop. its not tint effex. how often u go to mo-kan? we definitly need to meet up sometime at mo-kan

Yea, the shop is Hill's auto and performance. He moved his shop out west 7th just behind the golf course. And (haha) my truck is still setting in his lot. Will be at Mokan this fri.Email is [email protected]. Truck won't be ready for a few more weeks. Waiting on a carb from Pro Systems. My Quick Fuel just didn't work.

  3. u like the pacesetters?? i was thinkn about getting a set....

and also what did u do as far as fuel setups? i herd the 4.3l needs to be alllll redone for a 6.0l setup....

    [/qu

Yes thats right......... And because I went from FI to CARB,it was a big change. The Fi fuel pump put out around 65 FP pressure and the carb only requires 6 1/2 or so. There is no regulator that I could find to bring 65 down to 7. So I plumbed the tank with a fuel cell fitting in the bottom back of the tank and ran 1/2 " braided line to a Holley blue and on to the regulator. From there to the carb and to the fuel soloniod of the nitrous.

I just ordered my 10 1/2 pistons and Eagle rods.Sending the block to the local race shop for all bottom end work. Also will have them balance everything.Hope to have it back on the road in about 2 to 3 weeks. Will have all new brgings and crank turned.

  4. Well It was nice while it lasted. I should have done the bottom end. Heard a knock and drained the oil and cut the filter apart , had filings in both. Glad I turned it off right away.Well now it will be another 8 months or so to put a rotating assembly in. Would like to go with a 427 , but worry about over heating when bored .060. Any experence with boring that much with the cast 6.0 block?

  5. cool ide like to see more vids...i saw the slicks in the pics above and talked to someone at the track and i forgot what size he told me.....i am gettin ready to install the blower i just got and will need as much traction as poss. at the track

You will probably need to check with someone who knows the formula for slick size. Depends on horsepower, gear ratio, what kind of RPM you are going to turn and a number of other factors.

  6. what slicks r u ruunin what size r they im gonna be in the market soon....truck sounds good by the way

Thanks I was really suprised the way it sounds. I'll put a video on soon of start up and of under the hood also the dash. I have MT slicks 28X 9 X 15. The run on you tube was on my road with just street tires. The carb needs some different jets,it is really running rich. And probably different plugs. Thanks for the interest.

  7. My boss talked to me yesterday morining before i left out and offered me a a price of $48,000 for me to buy the business out. It would mean more work but in the end i would be better off cuz i know more about it than he does. And have more less been running it myself the last few months anyway. So if i do this it would mean that i would be :the owner/technician and CSR (fancy word that the franchise uses for a seceratary) Need all you guys and gals to pray for me that i make the right decision, and hope that it's the right one either way and that it doesnt come down to me having to buy it just to have a job.

That is a big step.Small business is what makes America great. If this is a good chance for you and your family to get ahead, and you can make it work for you, go for it. I'll put you on our prayer list.

  8. you will have more torque off the line. which in turn will spin the tires. you will also lose a lil top end with 4:10s i know my brothers 3.73 pull on my 4.10s at freeway speed.

I have 4.10's in my RCSB and drive everywhere. Just not real good on fuel mileage or to go 160 mph with. But on the track and stop light to light it does the trick. Matter of fact I'm probably going to go to 4.56's. And yes it's my DD. Have fun............... :chevy:

  9. Really a nice car. Only I just can't see putting that kind of abuse on a motor and drivetrain, etc.Especially when nobody can see the car for the tires going up in smoke. The car really sounded great and I wonder what kind of times it ran. Just my opinion. Awesome looking car.

  10. Props to you for being different, and good luck with the build. deffinatly intrested in the results.

Thanks I appreciate the interest. I'm hoping to get into the mid 12's.Say how do you get pictures on here like you have? (I'm not real good with these things).

  11. Nice work... but wouldn't it have been easier to just get a good tunning software like EFILive or HPTunners and have kept all of your electronics including your gauge cluster as well as the driveability of EFI and an overdrive gear for your trans...

Yes it would have but after I started it it was to late to turn back.My wife says I always do things backwards. It will be different thats for sure.

  12. Nice! The tires where really sticking to the ground on on the launch. What mods do you plan on doing to the 6.0L?

That launch was with the 4.3. It really comes off the line hard.

I took the 6.0 down to the short block and cleaned it all up.Replace the cam with a Comp Cam #XER273HR-14 224/230 dur.581 /592 lift. with heavier valve springs. Put arp2000 rod bolts and double roller chain and gears in.Put an Edelbrock performer manifold with the MSD ign. With a 850 QUICK FUEL on top.Powder coated valve covers and coil rails RED. Got the V8 radiator, already had the dual electric fans.

The gauge cluster had to be redone to accommodate the new Auto Guage gauges, tach, speedo, oil fuel, water temp, and volts.Pacemaker long tube headers.TCI super street fighter turbo 350 w/2800 stall.Has a ZEX NOS system. Will be starting off with 100 shot, then seeing if it can handle any more.

Probably will be changeing rear end to 4:56 or 4:88.This has been an experience.Hope it will be running by March 15th.

  13. Hi Thought I'd see if all of you think I'm crazy or not.

I have a 2006 GMC Sierra RCSB that came from factory with a 4.3 V6.I hadn't been to a drag strip in about 28 years. I only live 8 miles from MOKAN Raceway. It is about 3 miles from the Kansas border in Missouri.I put a set of 4:11 in and installed a Superchip, I went up to see what my pickup would do,and it ran a 16.68 @89 mph.Not fast enough. So I got a 100 shot of NOS,and a 2800 stall convertor. Put the Superchip back to stock setting and still set the trans shift points and pressures and turned off rev limiter. Then I ran a 14.76 @ 92 mph.Not fast enough. So I pulled the motor and sent the cam out to be reground (trying to not have to retune)We also put 2.02 and 1.60 valves and shorty headers.Did a little porting on the exhaust ports. Then I ran 14.52 @ 93 mph. 2 tenths disappointing.

The shop that has been helping me (my health won't let me do to much) always told me Steve just put a 6.0 in.So I finally found a 04 silverado with a 6.0. So I got it and some friends said "why don't you put a carburetor on instead of the FI.Found an article in Hotrod mag and decided to do it.

Well then my troubles started. The trans wouldn't work so I got a TCI super street fighter turbo 350 with a 2800 stall. Of course my driveshat was 3 1/2 inches to short so had a new one made. Then fiquired out my guages wouldn't work so ordered all new Autometer gauges. Then found out theres no way to regulate the fuel pressure down to 6-7 pounds for the carb.So we are dropping the gas tank and replumbing for a holley blue and 1/2 inch fuel line,so we have enough volume for the NOS.Here are a couple of pics so far.

  14. Just curious what all was done to the 4.8 when you got that time?

It was a 4.3 V6.I have 4.11's sent my stock cam out and had it reground(? 3.92-4.10 lift) 2.02 and 1.60 stainless valves and shorty headers with a 100 shot of NOS.With slicks.Had a superchip with it on stock with the trans settings and speed limiter off. But decided I wanted to go faster. I haven't been on a drag strip in 30 years.I have a drag strip 8 miles from my house,I really have the BUG again.Just no money. Also have a 2800 stall.

  15. Hi was wondering if I could put my project in the build section if my pickup isn't a SS.I really have enjoyed following all the builds.Interesting to see all the different ways everyone chooses to take their 6.0's.Turbo's, superchargers, NOS,ETC.

    I was building my 4.3 and got my 1/4 mile time to 14.52 @ 92 mph.Then decided to go with a 6.0.

If theres no one that objects,I'll put my progress in the build section.I don't have any pictures prior to now,but will explain all that has been accomplished.

  16. I decided to go carburated.Get rid of computer, which brought on all kind of changes.Hopefully the swap will be this week. Then to figure wiring etc.Had to go with a different trans and dash gages also.Got a TCI super streetfighter turbo 350 and a 2800 stall converter.

  17. For your info........ I'm doing a 6.0 now and really looked into cams and really didn't have the money either.Found a hotrod mag article where hotrod and comp cams did a look see into the 6.0 with carb and then with fuel injection.(sept. 09 page 84).They dyno'd 6 cams on each motor.Gave all the spec's and I made a decision to get a cam while I had it tore down that far.Jegs had the cam I wanted for 358 bucks.and suggested the valve springs of course for 175 bucks.not bad.The cam I got was the XER273HR-14.If your interested I'll let you know how it works out.
