Whaaat that would be crazy if I knew them. And how do you get the hoodies?
-
Awesome. Whereabouts in Houston do you live? My dad lives in Katy. Moved there about two years ago.

I usually clean my entire interior which will get any smells out. Then fill up the ash tray with arm & hammer baking soda. That will absorb all smells and give your cabin a neutral scent. My cabin never smells.

I wont be in a position to get anything until I get rid of my Yukon, which is tough since I have it at school right now. I'd consider myself lucky if I sold it during winter break. Your truck is clean though coop.

Yeah I know all about the BlackBear tune and its good stuff. My Yukon had a tune on it, but i recently got it cleared due to underlying issues. Not at all the fault of the tuner though, my truck wasn't exactly tune-ready when I had it done. Drove very well in everyday circumstances. If and hopefully when I get an SS, I'll get it tuned by them.

Haha if you weren't on the opposite side of the country then I'd be happy to. Must be crazy with 4.56

Alrighty, I'll probably shoot for an '06 2wd. I've seen a couple decent examples for under 20k. JaymzSS, thanks for the offer but I'll have to pass. I don't think I'll have many opportunities to make use of that power, I'm looking for something thats been largely untouched. Plus I like doing my own projects, that's half the fun. How would the gas mileage of an SS 2wd compare to my 5.3L 2wd? I wouldn't expect much of a difference. I average about 16mpg no matter how I drive. Do you think I can get anywhere near the kbb numbers for my Yukon?

Thanks for the warm welcome. Thats kind of a bummer that the 2wd comes with 3.73 gearing instead of 4:10. I have 3.73 and it drives okay but I could definitely go for a 4:10 especially on bigger wheels. I guess it'll drive pretty well either way after volant, corsa, and tune. And thanks for the help on the hoods. That makes an '06 in silver birch my preference. I would probably settle for 2wd if I found one I really liked. Keep the advice rollin' in.

Hi I'm Medwyn and was born and raised in Charleston, SC. I now go to University of South Carolina in Columbia. I've been driving my 2004 GMC Yukon since I was in high school, and have loved every bit of it, but I've been debating getting something different for a long time now. For awhile I wanted a sports car, but its hard to find one in great condition at the right price, and I still think they are not practical enough for a college student like myself. I need something that I can put a bunch of stuff inside of. I'm looking at possibly getting rid of my Yukon for an '03-'06 Silverado SS. I'd be intersted in doing this for a few reasons: First the 6.0 is a beast from what I hear. Second, they look good from the factory; no need to dump thousands into rims/tires/cosmetics to make it look good, unlike my Yukon with the 16"s. Third, they are still practical like my Yukon. Fourth, I can carry over alot from my Yukon like the Volant and the sound system. Here's some questions I have about the Silverado SS: 1. Are there any issues I should be concerned about? Are the transmissions shotty? Any year to avoid? 2. What year did they start making Pewter as a color? That would be my color preference, with victory red coming in 2nd. 3. Did they ever change the hoods on these trucks? Some of the '06 models I see for sale appear to have HD hoods. If so, that would be a preference as well. 4. Did all of these trucks come with 4:10 gearing? 5. What kind of mileage could I expect with the 6.0 in comparison to the 5.3 in my Yukon? I wouldn't think it would be any worse. 6. AWD or 2wd? I'm thinking 2wd but I heard about the drum brakes in the rear. Are they that bad? 7. My Yukon is worth $15,000 according to kbb for private party, and $12,000 for trade-in. Do you think I have a chance in hell of getting anywhere near those numbers in this economy? 8. Can you find good SS's for under 20k? My Yukon has 80k miles so I would want something with less mileage obviously. Thanks for all of your help. Here's pics of my truck:
