  1. what stall speen would be good? i have obx headers and no cats magnaflow catback. k&n cai, wheatley tune. the truck is noe my daily persay. i own a farm and its opnly 1000 ft from my house always use my gmc for all work stuff. ss is is for fun. runnin to town going to the gym. i want more erfformance than anything but i want good driveability. how would 2200 rpm do? or 3000? thats the two choices form the site i was lookin at. well not the only two they have them up to 4400 i think. my future plans are possible supercharger or a stroker. with eother option i will get a built 4l80 so what ever will work best in this now in the current setup. their isn't much more big performance mods i can do ya know. probablly do a 160 stat. o i was thinkin maybe a cam at some point that would be the biggest thing i would do till i build a motor.
  2. i gotta look into if it has ever been serviced. i've only hadf the truck a year now. had 94000 when i bought it. i'll track down some service records.

  4. yea when i build a big motor i was plannin on gettin some good heads and big cam and all that just was thinkin somethin fot right now ya know.

  6. i blew my motor up last year out a another one in but i was wonderin if i took my other set of heads and had the machined if i could get some good results outta them? i eventually wanna build a big stroker with that core but that is a few years away but i thought if i could re do my heads and squeeze something outta them i woul look into it?
  7. ya i would like to do that. now correct me if i;'m wrong and maybe this is just a myth buti've heard before that if your tranny has never really been serviced that you should leave it because if you go nd change the fluid the new would break up tarnish and what not and you could smoke the tranny. my truck got 114,000 on the tranny. motor only has 35,000 motor blew up last year got a nice one outta a wrecked 04 escalasde. now if that all is just bs. i'll probablly definetly do the stall shift kit servos and boost valve. o i was wonderin if i took my heads off my other motor and had them worked on it it would be worth irt. ya know port polish that sorta thing. i eventually wanna build a 408 or somethin with my old motor. its still rebuildable. didn't sieze or put a rod through it. pretty sure it just tore a bearing out lost oil pressure and knocks like an sob.
  8. hey guys i was gonna start gettin some more stuff for the ol ss. already have k&n cai, obx headers no cats maganflow. wheatly tune. wanted opinions ideas on other smple bolt on stuff. thinkin 160 stat, underdrive pulley, e-fans, wanted to know what would be good bang for the buck ya know. any and all input would be great!
  9. i got the obx headers and no cats. they have resonators. love em. truck sounds amazing with them. also have magnaflow cat back.
  10. ill get some pics as soon as i can. the caliper and pads were bopth brand new in april. on that side. pads still have goos material on them. i put new slides ans clips in everything was new. as far as theparts thing goes. maybe they gave me the wrong ones. the guys are pretty good down their ik them. they know what my truck is they ask me about it all the time.
  11. the whole inside pad comes out. this time it rotated out its half in the caliper and half hanging out but still lined up with the rotor if that makes sense, and its still thick its only 9 months old and my truck sat for 3 months with a blown motor then the piston runs on the disc and ruins the caliper. i don't know the part number for the pads. i got them at the parts store here. they looked up my truck its what it calss for and i run the good pads not the cheapos. i put the new rattle clips in. the first one came out on the highway i was doin 75 tapped the brakes just a touch and the pedal went to the floor then kinda came back. other two where just toolin around town. nione of them were a hard stop. just grab the brake to slow down for a stop sigh or light and pedal goes to the floor let off hit it again and i got brakes back. they'll feel slighty squishy but still their.
  12. hey guys my 03 ss keeps spiting out rear inside pads. ive had the of them come out one on the driver and two on the passenger. in less than a year the passenger one came out in april marchish and i replaced the pads clips and caliper and it just did it again. any ideas. and also i was looking at these slotted and cross drilled rotors on ebay by brake labs. just wondering if they were any good? i want to get somethin like those. gonna paint my calipers and stuff. any thought would be great

  14. well got it in no prob but it thre a code. random multiple clyinder missfire??? haven't done the crank reeearn yet. will tomorow when i go back to my buddies shop to put new tires on. but any other ideas?
