one word-diesel, there is a reason i am disappointed with this silverado ss, i own several diesel powered cummins trucks, my 1994 dodge diesel is more powerefull than my 04 Silverado ss, and i have less the $5k in the dodge, I bought the dodge for $2500 and added $2500 in parts for 350-400 rwhp and i can tow 10k and get 20 mpg plus empty

That White SS is pretty clean looking, i was thinking of painting mine white or hugger orange, i guess if i change my scratched up black, it will be orange now, i did a complete white paint on my old 98 dodge a summer ago, ppg whites are the most beautiful colors. I get my stuff painted at Hot Rods Body and Paint, on the south side of anchorage.

Well i have a used turbo kit but i think im gonna go a different route, i bought it used, it has no injectors, has an extra computer, front mount intercooler, was a pretty expensive kit( ask STS ) but its used,(10-15k miles or less) it has the larger or largest turbo, one of the two? has electronic pilar guages, possible trades for a BBC.

hmm 68th and lake otis, you live near the person with the white silverado ss, his looks like a real 03 or newer truck with stock 17 inch escalade rims, his truck would look good with stock rims i think, iv seen his truck on the new seward side of lake otis.

i bought mine almost two years ago for $16k cash and it had about 35k miles if i remember correctly. If you like the look of the truck do it, but dont buy the truck if you want a stock hot rod, then its a waste of money, actually these trucks are fuel effeicent with the correct fuel. but then again i bought mine to keep for a long time, so i didnt want a high mileage pile.

They are junk, less bright than the stockers, they are horrbile escpecially on the twisty alaska highways. im going back to the stock ones when i can find them.

that ss runs like mine, maybe the motor is blown as is shot(not nitrous, just no compression) with low octane and clogged cats? not like that has ever happend on these trucks. 345hp heavy truck vs 420hp lighter suv? I have never drivin a srt8 jeep but i want one.

gee wizz, those are two powerful motors, alittle out of my price range, i have found a 454 motor and tranny and a good 427 crank( 500 more rpms than a 454, i just need rods), im just looking to build this motor even if it goes into something else

well i did the hockey stripes 2 years ago, the rims last winter, the ss badges this summer and hopefully this winter ill get the front brake rotor cooling vents done( those things suck to remove). The rims are easier to keep clean than the factory black paint, but i do clean the insides of the rims which is a little more work. I like the rims because i think the glow much better than chrome, not bad for some 15 year old single stage paint that needed to be used up. my next rims will probably be stock 22 inch escalade rims or 22 inch ss rims in white. And in the winter shot last winter, the ss badges were removed for painting last summer, thats just the glue left over( i did the fishing line removal method, works great for reinstalling.

i looked into the new 496 engine but they are more of a boat motor(small heads with different bolt pattern, ect), im just going off the good old days when we had the 454 chevelles and elcaminos around and would instantly burn the tires if wanted, a built 454 is gonna cost me 3-4k, and have equall torque and hp in the 500 range. So thats all im going off, so any feed back is welcome.

I just ordered the new liscense plates TACOSS, i think its fitting since this thing cant haul more than 2 tacos or its overloaded( suspension and hp)
