  1. According to my mechanic who's is also an SSS guy, the truck should adjust for whatever type of gas you put in it. If it senses a ping it should compensate. However you will lose some performance, that's really the only downfall to less than 92+. If its not correcting for the lower octane then it's possible that it was tuned wrong if someone messed with it.
  2. Welcome Mine also drinks 93, doesn't like anything else unfortunately.
  3. I have a crossbreed holster which I wear at my lower back. It's a pretty awesome holster, molded to your gun, very secure, doesnt get in the way. I forget it's there until I lean up against a counter, my short stature puts my waste band right at counter height. Other than that, very comfortable and keeps it concealed. Two friends bought one after playing with mine. www.crossbreedholsters.com
  4. I second that, pretty sweet view! Have to give respect to the fire fighters and emt's. Are they mostly volunteer there? Here its pretty much all volunteer.
  5. Haha you know whats funny. The second cop said some thing to me about my front tag not being on there and I said it didnt come with a plate mount and im not drilling holes in my bumper and he said well you better fix it. BOOM flip up plate. I only flip my plate up when im going over that bridge. haha
  6. Yup, he actually didnt follow the typical cop way of doing things. Didnt introduce him self as an officer of the DRPA, no name nothing. Just came up and said I pulled you over for your window tint, you do know NJ only allows 70% tint on the front windows, then used his little tint gauge to measure mine, then asked for my info. Took it back and came back with a ticket. 39:3-75 so i looked it up, Improper safety glass. Researched it, safety glass is referring to the actual glass, not visibility through the glass. Whatever it would cost more than the ticket to fight it so.
  7. So here in the arm pit of the east coast, NJ, window tint is illegal on the front driver and passenger windows. Having said that, I have tint on my windows, nothing crazy just 20% and you can pretty much still see inside just less detail. Ive owned my SS since June last year and its had tint on it since the day I bought it. Last month I did some minor upgrades (smoked head and parking lights and a blue emblem on the front) Up until March 14th, no one bothered me about my tint. Then the wonderful bridge cops got a bug up their butts and decided to pull me over. Ok fine one ticket 54 bucks no big deal, not losing the tint. Then March 27th, pulled over again by the bridge cops for tint. Now Im a law enforcement major and was trying to become a cop, however I have been swayed by other cops and the economy to pursue the private security industry, Thats besides the point. I have talked to several cops, both friends and some not friends, and they say that they wouldnt bother me about it, and that its not really that big of a deal + there really is no statute that they can write for window tint. Just curious about the opinions of other people and what funny laws their state has that maybe they disagree with. Side note: I wasnt driving like a you know what, he picked me out of a bunch of cars on a two lane road. I was actually doing the speed limit for once
  8. "Gnat riding a jet fighter", haha awesome. I've always been a yamaha guy, quality stuff over there
  9. Heres a pic of mine when i bought it and then what it looks like now I have true dual flowmaster super 44s, volant cold air intake, and most recently a Wheatly tuned PCM. Its fun to drive......
  10. for me the beckett wawa is closer and my gf lives in PA so im usually up that way. Theres a few SS's in our area, whats yours lookin like

  12. Sounds good I'll keep an eye on it
  13. Every year here in tiny Woodstown NJ at the fair grounds there is a "custom" car show. I say "custom" because there are some lack of "custom" cars and trucks there, however there is the occasional blow you away custom something there. Im new to this forum, but I think it would be cool if some of the SSS trucks were represented at the show. As far as setting it up on here I am clueless. I do know that on their web site, which is still showing the 2010 show but maybe updated soon, they have the registration info and Im assuming prices and such will remain close to or be the same. Maybe someone with a little more experience on here could set it up, Im just attempting to bring some attention to it. Heres the link to their website with last years info on it. http://www.lowrollers.com/LRhome.htm This year the dates are Aug 20 & 21.
  14. I have those aeroforce gauges in my truck and they are awesome. I got blue and the gauge face comes with black or white, and a black or polished ring for it. I just moved them from the pillar to the center console today, heres a pic. Not completely finished but in place.
  15. Thats always the first thing i do........
  16. Mirrors easy, open the door. At the top of door panel towards the front is a triangle shaped panel. Pull that off, its metal clips that just pull out. After that take a flat screw driver and pry off the door lock indicator, the entire thing not just the part that slides. Then take a 7mm socket and remove the bolt behind the lock indicator and the other 7mm bolt under the arm rest. Also where the door handle is on the door panel, pop the bezel surrounding the handle. Then lift up on the panel a little and it will tilt out towards you. Disconnect all the connections underneath the window switches and the light at the bottom of the door. Then remove the nuts, there may be foam where you removed the first triangle panel just pull it out, behind the foam at the mirror and disconnect the mirrors plug. As far as getting replacement parts. Ebay is a good if you know what your looking for, otherwise a place like gmpartsdirect.com but your gonna pay more. You could also try local junk yards, might get lucky Good Luck
  17. Coasting down hill with everything off you can hear a slight howl.Other people would not hear it but I do. I have the same noise in my truck. I have not been able to isolate the component yet. I have been told by my mechanic, who also owns a SS and checks the site from time to time, that a slight faint howl is normal and it comes from the front diff. When it becomes louder it is an issue. The front diff has been an issue with these trucks from the beginning, its poorly designed. But thats besides the point. From what I have heard and what I have been doing for the two years I have owned mine is servicing the front diff fluid every 15000 or so. When I bought it the guy who had it before me had it rebuilt and when they rebuilt it they re used the retainers in the housing, needless to say the retainers broke loose which allowed my bearings to spin in the housing. So 2300 bucks later, I change the fluid every 15000 to keep an eye on things. But congrats on joining the SS club, its a great truck and I love every second in mine.
  18. New to the site, apologize if this has been posted before but I searched on the forums and couldnt find it so here it is. http://www.gm-trucks.com/rpo-code-lookup/ You can type in your rpo codes and it spits out what it is. i.e. with the pewter, dark pewter, gray, dark gray that no one can seem to agree on, this clears it up. Pretty cool and useful for some things I suppose
  19. Button to the left of the headlight switch would be the dome light off or on button. To the right of the headlight switch is the dimmer then to the right of that on the top is the cargo light. The fog light button would be under that.
  20. Thanks everyone! As far as pics go, the only ones I have are from when I bought it. Im working on getting a bunch of stuff for it as we speak. Currently it just has true dual flowmaster super 44's and a cold air intake. I had to spend a bit when I bought it because the it needed the front diff rebuilt, tires, and some other minor stuff which ended up not being cheap and pretty much zapped the accessories budget. Im looking at a goodmark hood, new head and parking lights cause mine have moisture in them and they would look better clear. Also looking into the wheatley PCM. Wouldn't mind any suggestions either.
  21. I personally like the blacked out look, but the chrome does look good. Thats a tough one
