  1. I just delt with the 449 code. Evap Canaster malfunction, very simular to the 446 code. The evap canaster/valve on my 07 VMAX is right in front of the gas tank on a small bracket bolted to the frame. Had it off in about 5 min. easy to get to. The dealer wanted 160 bucks for the modified evap can that relocates it. Did a little search and the direct replacement is only 28 bucks. Put it on, cleared the code and no problems scence. 30 bucks and 15 min and its fixed.
  2. Soon as it stops raining in NC I'll take a few pic's of my bed cover. One of the best things ever added to my truck!!!
  3. Hey guys anyone running the SLP under drive pulley? Or any underdone pull kits. I see guys on here selling theres, so are they worth the $$, or are you better off spending the cash in other places for performance gains?
  4. Thanks guys, I'll get some pics up to day but I think everyone is right. The side cladding is what keeps everything looking even. Since I have a four door that's not an option. May Just have to live with it.
  5. Hey guys, I have an 07 classic V-Max i just put the front and rear SS bumper covers on. The front looks great but the rear seems to hang lower then the rear body panel. I looked at some pics on here and seems the SSs run even with the lower body panel. Any Ideas or adjustments? I'll try and get some pics posted tomorrow.
  6. Thanks for the offer!! I'm trying to get the chrome SSs wheels.
  7. Hey guys, I need to pick-up a set of SSs wheels. Have looked at replacement wheels )aftermarket), but dang all the web-sites have such pore ratings and reviews. Anyone out there have a line on a good place to get a set, or a member that has a set for sale??
  8. Hey guys. I have an 07 V-Max classic 4 door. The rear speakers I have found in the past few days have stop working. Can any of you stereo/electronic guys give me a direction to start looking for the problem? It is an all factory BOSE system.
  9. Great write up! I do have a question maybe someone can answer. I have an 07 with drum breaks on the rear. Any info how to convert the drum to disk while up-grading at the same time?? Any info would be great!!
  10. Hey guys quick question. 07 classic V-Max, will they work? Is a V-max stock exhaust diff then an SSs?
  11. Hey guys, I have on 07 classic V-Max with rear drum breaks. I would like to put disk breaks on the rear and would like some info if I can get stock GM parts to do the conversion or should I/do I need to go aftermarket? Has anyone done this? Any trick or tips? Any help would be great!
  12. I'd like to chime in. I'm building a 67SS chevelle with an LQ4 engine. I'm fallowing a buddy with a 65 elcamino with the same set-up. Basically we are using a stock LQ4 bottom end with L92 heads from GM, at $1000, and an L76 intake that comes with fuel rails and injectors from GM at $800. Add a good cam, good tune, and some of the things you alrady listed. The elcamino is 430 RWH and it's basically a stock engine. Not sure if your year is a LQ4 or LQ9 engine but the LQ9 have higher compression and may have piston to valve clearance issues.
  13. Thanks guys, yeah its the tow package. Can anyone tell me the diff between the tow and performance package? With the mods i plan it may not make a diff. Plan on putting the 20" chrome SS wheels and the SS bumper cover. Hope to have most everything done by end of summer. That is $$$ is right and the 67 SS doesn't steal alot of it.
  14. I like these STS kits, but has anyone decided to mount the turbo just behind the headers?? Reduce the pipping back to the engine, seems this would be easy enough to do. May even spool up a bit faster. Just an IDEA.
  15. John, the 67SS is a dream car, hope to be Pro Touring in the couple years. Learning what i can about these 6.0 LS engines as my plans are an LQ9 engine / L92 Heads / L76 intake. This would prob be a good set up for our trucks, just not sure of valve clearance with the :92 heads. But hear ya go couple pics of where some of my $ is going. 16. Welcome John! heading your way to have dinner this week on the waterfront. We should get together, seem both our trucks are ready to have some mods made. I've made my list. So now I'll just have to divert funds from the 67SS to the V-Max. To many toys not enough dough.
  17. Thanks for the good words guys!!! Not sure if this is a member but raced an SS over the bridge! Wow strong truck! I have some work to do. in
  18. After pin stripe is removed there will be a faint color difference where the strip was. Here is used the polishing compound to blind the paint and to remove and small amount of glue left from the strip. As for the molding, the double slided tape will leave behind more residue and glue that will not be removed by the 3M wheel or the adhesive remover. The rubbing compound work well here. With a little elbow grease and time all the remaining tape will come off, then use the polishing compound to address any swirls left by the rubbing compound. Thats it.
  19. After molding is removed take the same steps to to remove double sided tape. The tape is thick and will take more time to remove. I would soak about 6 inches of remaining tape down with the 3M adhesive remover and use the wheel. Due to the tape being so thick in places the wheel will start to get hot. Keep a close eye on this as to dot burn the clear coat/paint. Again wipe down after using the wheel with 3M adhesive remover to remover residue and glue left behind by the 3M wheel.
  20. After cleaning the are to be removed use the 3M adhesive remover to wipe down the pin stripe. Use the 3M pin stripe removing wheel to to Begin the process. A tip to an easy removal is to work the 3M wheel in a direction that goes against the rotation of the wheel. A slite up and down movement works well. This allows the wheel to roll / peal the stripe up and away from the paint. Let the tool do the work, no need to press down on the paint as the wheel does a great job! After removal there will be a ton of dust and such. Wipe clean with a soft towel and then wipe area with the 3M adhesive remover. The wheel will leave some residue that will be removed during this step. A little elbow grease works good here. Now its time for the door molding. Take the puddy knife and gently work one corner of the molding up. Then wrap the knife in a soft cloth and apply 3M adhesive remover to cloth. Work the knife with cloth under the molding, apply stead constant pressure letting the knife do the work. Do not pull the molding away from body as this could remove paint. Only pull and hold molding as the knife separates molding from body.
  21. Hey guys, just did this over the weekend. This probably is directed more to the V-Max guys but good info for anyone trying to remove molding, emblems, pin stripes and such. This is my first "How To". The fallowing is directions on the removal of pin stripes and door/emblem moldings. Tools and hints to make the job easy, and reassure those interested that you will have NO paint damage if you take your time. My V-Max came with a pin stripe and the gay door moldings! For me a MUST remove project. Here are the tools i used to remove the stripes and molding and bring the paint under the tape and molding back. Finished mod left the truck looking as if there were never any moldings at all! Cordless or Corded drill 3M Pin Stripe Removing Wheel 3M Adhesive Remover Puddy Knife Soft Rag or Cloth Polishing and Rubbing Compound A couple pics of the truck with molding and pin stripes...
  22. Hello all! Well I'm new to the site, just bought a V-max about two months ago. Its an 07 classic, black 4 door, bone stock. I never even new there was such a thing as a V-max and I LIKE! Nice to have something a bit different than an SS and have 4 doors! I have read alot on here and come to assume that the V-Max and SS are twins other then some SS's having all-wheel drive. Looking to make many of the moods such as tranny shift kit, tranny cooler, 160 stat, CAI, headers, and a custom tune. A little more power would be great but this is a daily driver and i enjoy the 17 mpg city and 21 mpg hwy! Any in-site from you guys would be great, parts that work, install good, best place to order and moods i may have not thought of. I'm an old school Muscle Car guy, do everything myself except paint, but do have some learning to do when it comes to tunning, and these LS/LQ9 engines. I have posted a "How To" on removing pin stripes and the door molding. I can never leave anything alone, lol. Check it out.
  23. Hey all! New guy on the block, sporting a 07 classic V-Max. Bone stock with some ideas to bring it up to speed with some mods and go fast goodies. Great looking trucks on hear. Curently building a 67 Chevelle Convertable so time and $$ is split between the Chevelle and the V-Max.
