Hi. First of all, like to say I love my 04' SS. Recently she's been giving me problems. Maybe some of you truck savvy folks can help me? I'm in the Army, stationed in Louisiana, and the roads here are TERRIBLE. A few months ago, I noticed a 'rattle' per say when I am driving over light cracks, and rocky/bumpy roads. It sounds like someone is under there dangling keys. So I took it in to get looked at by a mechanic, and they particularly found nothing wrong with any of the suspension/tie rods/ball joints etc, they said nothing was noticably wrong. Now today, on my way to work, i stopped to grab something to eat, I was pulling out of a parking spot and had my wheel cranked all the way to the right, and I hear a LOUD -crank crank crank- so to speak, sounded like something was breaking, (metal). Now I noticed after the fact that the mechanic had greased the hell out of my ball joints. They're worn, I can tell you that, they're cracked but there not totally bad. I noticed he picked at the bushings and took some of the rubber out from them and replaced it with the grease. The handling on the truck, is bad. It always wants to veer to the right, now I know it needs an alignment, but I dont think an alignment will fix my jingle, crack, and pop noises, so i'll wait to get that done. One thing I noticed is i'm constantly riding on the little rubber bump stops is this normal?, which I believe are there for support just incase the Shocks go bad? Any real big bumps the truck likes jumps and almost feels like the front ends wobbles and feels like i'm going to lose it. I'd really appreciate some help, i'm not vehicle savvy at all, so if i'm leaving out some information i'll respond with it.. i'd apreciate the help.. Thanks
