  1. I have an 03 SS with a K&N CAI that would stalk gt mustangs no problem. and im following everyone elses footsteps , i just got my pacesetter long tubes and will be tuning the truck within a couple weeks. i would listen to alot of guys on here, always have great advice and support when it comes to questions.

but yeah easy and not so pricey things would be intake, exhaust/headers, tune.. STOUT trucks and respond well with little mods

  2. Thanks guys.. My headers are here along with 160 t stat. tune is next to come.

and yes i wouldnt waste money on a spacer, i was referring to bigger TB such as an 87 or 90 mm.

but i appreciate the input, glad alot of yall know what yall are talking about, im not illiterate when it comes to cars, but 98% of yall on here probably know more specifically about our engines than i do.

thanks again, ill probably be posting some numbers in the near future. went 9.44 at 74 mph with K&N CAI.

we'll see what she does with headers and a tune.

  3. hey guys i have an 8'' JL audio sub and im kinda hoping to get an answer before i tear the console apart. is it possible to remove the factory bose sub and replace it with this 8'' JL and have it still play off the factory amp and power up. will i have to do a little boring of the factory hole for this ( im assuming so) just more curious if i can do this and have just a tad more bump

  4. You can get it ported for like $100 which some people say can get up to 5 hp. New one from bbk are way to expensive. The best thing to do would be to swap out to a car intake manifold with a 4 bolt TB so you can run a 90mm or bigger. Also I think the NNBS intake manifolds will work on our truck which also run a 4 bolt TB. If you don't want to do the swap then I would look into different mods. Go with a tune. That will be the best bang for your buck.

i failed to include the fact that thats my plans. i was wanting to get TB prior to tune. because i ordered my headers thinkin i'd do headers then tune but figured if i was going to do a TB down the road i might as well go ahead and do it before the tune.

  5. Hey guys. in the process of buying some little bolt ons for my 03 SSS. Shes got a K&N CAI, and i ordered my pacesetter long tubes yesterday along with 160 t stat. now im curious as to what the best combo is for TB. what is a good size that responds well? i think stock is 78mm if im not mistaken.? i'd appreciate everyones input

    thanks guys

  6. why are you so worried about numbers? dyno's are tuning tools and bench racing. if you want real numbers , the track is where you will find them and they done care if its awd or 2wd :smash:

you get respect from et's not dyno #'s

im not real worried about it. i would just like to know what it picks up but i guess i can go off of that no matter what because the increase will still show even if its off.

yeah i know thats what im lookin for is to be closer to the 8s

  7. thanks for the compliments ive worked long and hard to get them there.

its really close just have to figure drivetrain loss which is quite high in an awd truck such as the SSS.

id say 25% with a 65 and a little more with an 80e

ok i'm sure with the help of guys on here after the dyno we can figure out about what it truly makes if it were to jump on an AWD dyno.

  8. No problem, any time. It sounds like that guy is good at tuning so im sure youll knotice a good difference!

oh yeah. I'm hoping to get the ol SS in the 8's with just bolt ons and not alotta money. right now shes a consistent 9.44-9.46 truck with a k&n CAI and cheap muffler. i dont care if after a couple mods it goes 8.999 i'd be happy haha but i know thats a big gap

  9. alot of us have done it with no problems . pm justin or chpspecial they have done this many times with not a single problem . just done drive it like that . btw i made 700 rwhp way back when and it was ok .

with that said if you can find an awd it will be more accurate and safer . awd dynos for 143.5 wheel base are endangered last i checked though.

WOW! yeah ive seen some videos of your beast.. i wouldnt mind havin that duramax you tow with either!!!

ok man that makes me feel a little more comfortable.

you were talkin about accuracy, am i gonna see CLOSE to what she makes or with the power split am i gonna see what the split power is to the rear?

  10. Thanks Jordan836.

Ive seen good reviews and looks like alotta guys on here run the pacesetters.. im leanin that way right now. yeah i gotta guy here that does AWESOME tuning work, he just pulled 68 hp out of my buddies ls1 and is going to be tuning my brothers lt1 here in a couple weeks. he also pulled 35 hp out of a 5.3. so im feelin good about dropping the headers and letting him work his magic on the SSS.

    i really appreciate everyones input.

  11. Hey guys,

after i find a set of LTs and settle on them im gonna get the SSS tuned . The shop the guy that tunes at is a single roller but my truck is AWD

what is the safest and best way to rid the front wheels for the tune and dyno pulls

do i pull shaft or is there a way to disconnect the transfer case w/o pullin shaft. Open to any and all advice/ input. dont wanna tear her up

  12. What headers you going with? If you are on a budget, obx seems to make a nice set of headers...havn't seen anything negative about them..maybe a few members with them will chime in..just my duece cents

im not set on a certain brand, yes im on a budget.. i know i ve heard great things about pacesetters. but im just lookin for an affordable set. dont necessarily have to be powdercoated , i would like for them to be but a buddy of mine does powdercoating so if i found a cheap enough set w/ out bein coated i would settle.

but yes im on a budget, only 18 and still in school but tryin to mod the ol ss

  13. If I were you, I would do the a 160 thermostat 1st along with a tune/coolant flush. Then jump into LTs with a coolant flush and/or a muffler (magnaflow, borla) instead of a full exhaust setup. The stock pipes are great in my opinion, just replace the muffler if your on a budget. Then again it all depends on the sound you like (deep tone like billy boat or mild like corsa except at wot)

already have an aftermarket muffler on it. im leavin factory set up i love havin it lookin like a sleeper/ different than every other truck on the road that has the dual flowmaster exhaust/ tips. i'd like to do headers prior to the tune just for the sake of tunin w/o the cats and stuff. waiting on winter to be completely gone before tstat but the way it looks here its probably gone so good tip!

thanks guys i really appreciate it. probably order LTs this weekend or next, ready to hear her rumble a little more than she already does.

  14. If I were you I would do LTs and a full custom exhaust and electric fans and a tune. Underdrive pullies are good but I think they take away from some of your charging power so you might want to upgrade your alternator. Im not totally sure on that but im sure someone will chime in.

yeah i will agree with you upfront on the charging deal. my brother was saying the same thing he noticed a little less chargin when he did pullies on his camaro. planning on the LTs and tune for sure but thanks for the idea on the fans.. wasnt even thinkin about that.

with droppin the cats and runnin LTs im sure ill feel a little more kick wont i?

  15. Hey guys im thinkin within the next month or so when i can get a little more money set back for the truck i'd like to do a set of LT's on my SS.

Just curious if anyone has any they are willing to let go for a reasonable price. dont really wanna pay for a new set. also what are yalls thoughts on underdrive pulleys. thinkin LT's , pulleys, and a tune out of my next couple checks.

  16. gotta two for one thread going..

i just ordered a pioneer double din radio. its a 5.8'' touch screen. i was curious if there is any modding needed to be done to the dash for this radio to fit in the bose hole. and also are steering wheel controls still possible?

next i was wondering if anyone could post a chart/picture of the power curve on a stock ss lq9 motor. i cant seem to find one.

    thanks in advance guys
