so i have a 2004 chevy 1500. im not sure if a lot of people have had this problem but i have a squeak/creak whatever you want to call it. but i hear it almost constantly and have traced so noise to the leaf spring shackles on passenger side..one closest to the cab and bumper. and on driver side shackle closest to the cab. so how do i take out my leaf spring pack so i can pull it apart and find out the issue? i dont want to use any lubricant to temporarily fix it. i want to figure out the problem and fix it correctly.

update: today my dad brought up an idea. to disconnect the power to the start and disconnect the negative to the battery. after the starter is disconnected connect the negative to the battery and see what color the spark is and if its a little spark or big spark. so we did that. it was a little yellow spark. when i switched batteries this morning there was a loud pop and a blue spark almost hitting me in the face. i put the NEW starter in and the truck fired right up like normal. so the conclusion we got from the test was that the starter solenoid was the culprit for drawing the power from the battery. something could have gotten messed up internally or shorted out. but in the morning i am hoping it fires right up like normal because i am getting fed up with this issue. but i will keep everyone updated. thanks again for all the replies and advice update number 2: i started my truck this morning and it fired like normal. so seems like my problem was the solenoid on the start. i left work today and it stuttered the slightest then started. i went around the corner, turned it off, waited a minute, started it again and fired right up. thanks again for everyones replies and advice. i appreciate it.

i had my neighbor who is a retired mechanic look at it and said my charging system is working properly. he pulled the ground off the battery and said that there was a blue spark instead of a yellow spark and said that means there is an excessive draw from somewhere. so i locked my truck tonight but not alarmed so i will see if that helps and he thinks my starter is going out. but i will let you know what happens. thanks for the replies.

so saturday i drove my truck for awhile,sunday it sat all day, monday went to warm it up before work and it took some effort to start. it would half crank and half crank then crank and finally turn over. it did the same thing this morning. i had my radio on for about 10 mins and started it later and the hard crank problem started again. got home from work. went to a dr appt cranked fine. it sat at my buddies house for a couple hours tonight and almost didnt start. sounded like the battery was almost dead. i checked the battery today and it had 12.25 volts with the motor off. what are possible problems?

thanks for everyones replies. i guess going the resistor route is all i can do but didnt want to because i dont even know where the bcm is. but ill look for that how to thread.

how do i permanently disable my auto feature on my 04 silverado 5.3? my hid ballasts short out because when i turn my key to on position they turn on then when i start my truck there is a power surge(so to speak) then when i start my truck the ballasts have to ignite again. so what can i do?

ill start with the bulbs. thanks for your help guys. i dont have the bose system or steering wheel controls but i've found a couple adapters to use just dont feel like spending money right now lol

when i took my hids out yesterday i noticed that in the middle of the bulb where the bulb convexes in the middle. almost like a bubble. there was what looked like white stuff inside the little bubble. is that normal? one thing i didnt check i just assumed was that it was the ballast but if that white stuff isnt normal ill check the ballast for power to the bulb and ill just order new bulbs if thats the case but ddmtuning is very inexpensive which almost seems too cheap.

who makes good kits?

hey guys, so i've been having this intermittent problem with my hids. one day one side will work. and the next day the other side will work and so forth. today and yesterday the passenger side havent worked. so im looking at buying a new kit. but my headlight switch is the one that stays in auto full time. is there a way to overide just the auto feature? so that at night when i start my truck my hids dont flicker from the time i turn the truck ON than start? what are good hid kits with relays? and would relays help?

well a dodge tried to get me off the line one night it wasnt a diesel, im not sure if it was a 4.7 or 5.7 but the guy thought his 5 speed was faster than my 4 speed. he was winding 2nd gear up pretty much to redline. i guess he thought he was cool cuz his very attractive gf was in the car with him. he had a regular cab short bed ram. not the new body style but the style before. anyway by the time he finally shifted into 3rd i was already way past him and got to the next light and he didnt look at me or rev his motor or anything. another night tho i was with my bro and a magnum hemi pulled next to me. my bro looked over to instigate a race lol. the city i was in is known for **** cops so i wasnt tryin to race i sort of got into the throttle but the magnum was gone lol. im pretty sure my 5.3 wouldnt keep up lol.

i want a setup like this. but whats in the middle in the back? kinda hard to tell but nothing im guessing? or a ball? lol. i dk. is it at all possible to get this setup in my truck?

has anybody put aftermarket seats in their truck or know of anybody that has done so. i am looking to turn my interior from gray to black and have been searching for seats and brackets. i've found seats but no brackets. i've found a black interior carpet kit. so thats covered. i want to put racing style seats in but ones that still allow the back to adjust up and down. and want to put racing seats in the back and get rid of my bench seat.

so i had an idea earlier today that i wanted to paint my lower and upper valance with a smooth finish high gloss black to match my grill. but not sure how to go about starting the project. like what kind of sand paper to use and also need to find paint but now im contemplating two ideas. paint the upper valance black keep the middle chrome and paint the lower valance body color. or top black, middle blue, bottom black. i dont want to over do it on the blue since the body is already blue. if anybody has any other ideas im open to them or advice would be really helpful. thanks.

thanks for the info. pardon my ignorance what is the cladding?that stylin trucks site has a paintable one i liked. but i like the look of the one piece design of the ss bumpers not the 3 piece of the normal trucks.
