if i do it im going to have it in 2wd all the time and if i want in awd like at the drags or something i would just switch it underneathe the truck... no holes no tearing apart the truck... just cleaaaaannn
-
That would be unique, Ive been wondering around the site since 7/2007 and became a member 8/2008 (had to create 2nd account 9/09). I Have not read a thread about this or anyone doing it yet, but could be wrong.
I say do it, considering the weather we have in the NE.
ya i dont drive the truck in teh winter and my friend has a lightning.. and i have to watch him smoke the tires everywhere.. awd is ok but i wanna have more fun.. if i find out anything ill post it

i was thinking about switching to a manual transfer case and getting a posi.. i can get a transfer case from a salvage yard pretty cheap.. has anyone else done this.. i would have to cut a hole in the floor but i think its worth it to be able to leave rubber everywhere
-
theres 2 ways to do it you could take your transfer case apart and gut it besideds 2 gears that need to be welded together but u still have to leave all the heavy shit or you can find a wrecked truck and get all the parts from it
found a cheap manual transfer case thinking of cutting a hole in the floor and switching...

i tried to pull out my front shaft on my 03 and it wont move just reved so what does that mean
means ypu did same thig i did ... mine drove around for an hour then stopped.. just put it back on it should be fine mine was.. still wondering how to get rid of awd i want rwd

my transfer case is fine it works right.. is there any way to make it rear wheel drivee... do i need to just get a manual transfer case....
-
Here is a great write up of the transfer case and what not to do.
Also tells you how to check it to see if you have messed it up.

most likely you injured your transfer case. it will probably work for a bit and then leave you stranded somehwere.
you have probably damaged the coupling . which is the reason it sent all the power to rear wheels since the front was "sensed as a slip " it is supposed to do this but not for prolonged periods of time especially under full tq loads . the reason it worked when you put it back in is the couple saw the front wheels have traction and either disengaged and or has completely engaged the torque to the front since that is probably what is left of the coupling .
its good to be a entrepreneur and do what everyone tells you not too but consequences can be harsh . in this situation there was one inevitable outcome - time.
dammm i only did it because a auto shop told me i could...... i dont think anything is wrecked because it def isnt front wheel drive only
-
where you driving like this on the street? Because if so, you could have done major damage to the viscous coupler. There is no sensor just the coupler that splits the power between the two axles.
why does it work for a lil while then stop working... i really want my truck to be able to roast teh tiresss.. any ideas how.. i thought it would be good because i didnt think taking front drive shaft off would hurt anything
-
i have a machanical guage and the guage in the dash. my machanical guage is on the pro charger feed line. the other day i started my truck it took a minute for the guages to go up from zero. when it finally whent up the machanical and electrical went up at the same time. it did this 3 other times and then on the last one it never went up and just stayed at zero. i was thinking oil pump but i would think it would have just gone the first time not be intermit...... any helpppp thankss

ya i was on the road it was nasty while it worked.. it doesnt make sense that anything would be hurt by it.. it lasted about an hour then just stopped moving.. as soon as i put teh front drive shaft back on it moved again.. thats why i thought was a sensor

It sounds like you need a more competent tuner, You will not loose any power by tunnig the MAF table, however you first need to have your VE table properly dialed in. If you look up Krambo's tunning guides they go into great deal on tunning. The warning in EFILive is so that newbees at tunning don't fry the PCM or put it in a deadpole mode because they adjusted the paramater too far from stock. The MAF table has a hard PCM limit set by GM, there is no aftermarket solution that will read higher since the PCM can't read past 12000Hz. The only thing that aftermarket MAF sensors are good for is for increasing the sice of the intake pipe, which you do not need seeing as how you are supercharged.
Once again you do not need an aftermarket MAF, or a "custom" built one... Just proper tunning via MAF calibration or a 2-bar Speed Density tune. At your boost level you are borderline with either one. If you plan on boosting higher then its a no brainer and go with a Speed Density.
THANKS ALOTTTT haha i was about to give up i have put so much time and moneyy into this truck.. but i love it to much to stop i just need a break for a few haha as soon as i bought it lost tranny and then had few other prob along way right after another
-
i am maxing out the MAF i was told i need to have one made custom for my truck and it would cost a ton of money... if i fudge the tune and stuff wont i loose power
what are you ajusting to make your stock mass air flow sensor work. ON EFI live it says not to change the settings if you have a stock MAF.
-
Which gauge is reading all over the place? sound like you are just maxing out you MAF and a replacement wont really help you out. Sounds like you need to go into a speed density tune... Or just fudge your tune so that you read proper AFR at your max RPM/boost. No need to spend your extra money, unless that is what you are being charged to tune your vehicle.

What are your mods?
front mount intercooler 3 inch pipe..
stage 1 built tranny with shift kit
vortech pro charger with 10 pound pully
tuned
-
i have a similar prob... I just put a smaller pully on my 03 ss its procharged.. i got it tuned and at wide open my check engine light comes on and my air fuel guage runs really lean bouncing everywhere... if you shut teh code off it will run fine until you pin it. i know i need a new MAF sensor but i was told it would cost 350 to have one made for my truck is this true... any other options.. i am running a front mount intercooler i dont no if that is why. any help thankss

found an AWD dyno in Redmond with enough length to support my wheelbase. Finally! So some fine tuning and HP numbers will be done on Saturday.
It will be good to see ACTUAL AWD dyno numbers. Although not as glorified as pulling the front driveshaft! These will be real!
i pulled my front drive shaft off and it ran for about an hour or so then died like i had no tranny.. i put the shaft back on and it moved fine again. did you run into a problem like that and is there a sensor or something
-
i have a 2003 ss and i just got my tune and i have a 10 pound pully.. my mass air flow which is stock is to small and the check engine light is on and my guage is all over the place while im just driving steady and mostly lean. i was told a new one would have to be programmed and made for my truck for 400 dollars.... do i have other options... does any1 know the size of my stock one and can i take one from a newer trailblazer ss or sumthing.. please helpp
-
the only way that i know of finding out what size injectors you have and to see if you need bigger injectors would be to get someone that tunes to hook there computer up and see what the work load is on your current injectors are. other then that pull one and see if there is a part number you can look up. but most supercharger kits come with injectors and those injectors are usually good to about 8-9 lbs or so. good luck
thanks.. ill try that

im running 5 psi on my vortech supercharger. the website says it comes with..... Fuel management upgrade includes high-capacity fuel injectors(01-04), high-flow fuel pump(00-03), FMU(00) and a hand-held ECM re-programmer(00-04) i dont no what that means.. i bought the truck with the system on it and want to up the boost to 8.. wanted to no if i needed injectors for 8 pounds vortech reccomends 7.5 and how can i tell what size injectors i have it doesnt say on them... and does anyone have and wanna sell 42 pound injectors if i need them. sometimes i wish didnt buy used its hard to find out what other people have done... does anyone no what size pully i need to dowsize to for 8 pounds of boost
-
i have an intercooler i am replacing my top mount charged cooling system with because i was told intercoolers are way better the piping off my supercharger is 3 inch and i was sent 2.5 i was wondering to save money if i could use it or spend money to return.. i fear loss of power with teh smaller tubing
-
with the sounds of this im guna just go safe with 8 lbs boost vortech recommends 7.. do i need bigger injectors if i go to 7 or 8 i dont have money to be doing the tranny im still going to get a shift kit to help it last

I have a stock set up on my 03 awd ss and i want mine to look like this ^^ personally i dont like level and i like how your front is a lil lower. i notice every1 uses drop spindles. i dont have the money for them. i wanted to just do lowering shackles in the rear and turn the torsion bar or if i cant get enough get torsion keys.. i cant find any info of any1 doing this. is there a reason??
