  1. Well, good news today. Took my truck to the trans shop, slipping the whole way there. Fluid was really low. Had the tranny serviced (new fluid/filter). There were no metal shaving or anything bad in the pan, fluid was clean also. No idea where the fluid went. The underside of the truck is bone dry but as of right now, a new tranny is not needed :)

I don't know a whole lot about transmissions, is it possible some fluid can burn off when towing my boat? It really doesn't like hauling the boat on the highway. From my limited knowledge, I don't think tranny fluid can burn off though...

If it was burning of you would smell it on the dipstick. Sorry that I don't have a good answer for you. I remember a post not too long ago where a guy who sounded like he knew a little bit about it said that there is a gasket or seal at the tail end of the trans that can go bad and allow trns fluid to leak into the transfer case. Might be worth checking you T-case fluid to see if you see any evidence of trans fluid there. Good luck with it.

That is what my trans guy though happened as well. He checked the transfer case it it was right at the fill hole. He said if it had been leaking, the transfer case would have been over filled (it wasn't). He didn't have a good excuse either as to where the fluid went.
