  1. Window shopped for a new truck today. MSRP of $57,600 for a 15 leftover high country 4x4 w/ the 6.2 litre. About $55k out the door. I realized today how much I really like my SS... and the fact it's paid off :)

Yeahhhhh, my paid off truck drives just fine.

lol at "leftover" at yeah can you believe how expensive the new trucks are? Imagine the sales tax and apr if a person finances. That's like the 80K truck lol

Could you imagine the msrp if they were to bring the SS Silverado back? 13 years ago the msrp of my truck was $42k... Factor how truck prices have soared since then. I bet the SS would be in the 60's if a high country is almost 58.

  2. What are you all doing for rear view camera mounting?

I have been looking art those but then I'd have to have it painted to match.

      1BAD2K

That would be cheap, plus I don't know about you but I've had to have both my SS tailgate handle and bezel professionally repainted bc I can't stand how GM just sprayed over the texture. Looks horrible imo.

If I'm gonna get involved in painting, the whole truck is gonna get strayed. The beautiful Florida sun has taken its toll on it.

  3. Here's a first, went to a used car dealer today and looked at a 10 year old Wrangler Rubicon (super low miles though). Their asking price was 5k above book value. I made then an offer (above book value). Nope. They wouldn't even negotiate a dollar off the price... wow!

Lol same thing happened to me on a tacoma earlier this year. After I went to look at it I noticed the one close up pic they had online of the tire was a brand new one. In person I saw the other three were completely bald lol. They wanted to negotiate after I walked out on them. I told em **** off.

People think they can sell Jeeps for more than blue book just because they are jeeps. Ive never understood why they are so expensive, and why they owners and dealerships always think they are worth more than they are

Here's the funny thing. In 2005, the Jeep was $25k, brand new from the dealer with zero miles and full manufactures warranty. They are trying to sell the same Jeep, 10 years old, 20k miles in good (not excellent!) condition with no warranty for $25k! Crazy!!!!

  4. New shocks and sway bars. Truck still rides like crap and feels like it's falling apart (literally) when going over bumps and rough terrain. WTF and where do I start? I just had the front end aligned and tires balanced last week. No change. 100k miles, stock height and mostly original front end except the idler/pitman arm and wheel bearings.

Control arm bushings? Put it up and put a pry bar between parts and see what is loose.

Alignment shop should have* caught anything that was bad.

i got about the same on mine and recently just did shocks still had the stocks on it. rides a lot better went with the bilstens. wanted to do all the bushings seems like shocks did the trick for now. want to get back in there for sways and bushings tho.

  5. Water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt and idler changed. Flushed the entire cooling system, again. Let's see how many days I get without puddles this time... Anybody wanna buy a 03' SS. Entire cooling system was just replaced!

  6. Yet another puddle of coolant under the truck. It has been pressure tested 3 times and holds 20lbs. However, leaks a puddle when it sits over night after being driven.

problem is when it was puking (large quantities) of that wonderful coolant/trans fluid mixture, it leaked all over everywhere under the truck so everything is wet. I de-greased the engine yesterday (twice) so we'll see if I can pinpoint it now that it's all clean. I'll probably just do the water pump anyway... 12yrs old and 101k on it.

Funny notice today i had a small leak myself and track it down to the front shaft seal on the water pump.

  7. Another large puddle of coolant under the truck this morning. It has been driven once it was fixed. AWESOME!!!

  9. New rear sway bar installed and not I have a intermittent shudder around 55mph.

Man, you can't catch a break lately lol. Pull the end links and see if it is still there.

  10. New radiator, hoses, flushed the cooling system, twice. Drained and refilled both difs and the transfer case. New rear shocks and rear sway bar installed. Glad it's all done now!

An older vehicle has to get pretty bad before it comes close to costing you what a new truck payment will be. Don't get me wrong I know that new is nice for a while. Everything works and all you've got to do is pay.

    3. 90zxdriver

      90zxdriver

well, this month we're up to about $1600 so far...

    4. Downeast Johnny

      Downeast Johnny

Ouch. That will get your attention. Especially if your not used to spending on it regularly.

  11. New radiator, hoses, flushed the cooling system, twice. Drained and refilled both difs and the transfer case. New rear shocks and rear sway bar installed. Glad it's all done now but hated having to pay somebody to do it. Due to family being in town and my work schedule (and I needed a vehicle), I didn't have much of a choice. Ugh, it's just money... right???

  12. Is there a radiator upgrade or is just another stock GM unit best? I seem to remember out truck had the larger radiator from the factory...?

  13. UGH! Another puddle under the truck... WTF!

      90zxdriver

      It's coolant this time.

Just cant catch a break man. Sorry to hear it.

  14. Well, good news today. Took my truck to the trans shop, slipping the whole way there. Fluid was really low. Had the tranny serviced (new fluid/filter). There were no metal shaving or anything bad in the pan, fluid was clean also. No idea where the fluid went. The underside of the truck is bone dry but as of right now, a new tranny is not needed :)

Man; You've got a mystery on your hands. Are you sure that it was filled properly in the recent past? (Don't know if you just got the truck and hadn't filled it yourself).

    3. 90zxdriver

      90zxdriver

I bought the truck at 60k and the first thing I did was take it to dealer and had any/all fluids drained/flushed/refilled. That was 40k miles ago.

    4. Downeast Johnny

      Downeast Johnny

You've got to trust sombody, right?

Probably the most logical thing to do at this point is just drive it and keep an eye on the tranny level.

  16. Whining fuel pump, CEL Code P0101 (MAF sensor), slipping second gear and now a puddle of tranny fluid under truck. Any chance any of this is related or do I just have horrible luck. All happened within 2 days of each other.

  17. I think I just lost or am loosing second gear. Anybody know how to post videos so I can get a confirmation?

  18. Just rolled 100K miles and at the same time, the low fuel light comes on. That's about right.

100,000 on one tank full ain't bad. LOL

    2. 90zxdriver

      90zxdriver

Just for fun, 100,000 miles with an average 11 mpg = 8,333 gallons of fuel used this far. 8,333 gallons of fuel at an average of $3.00 for premium = $25,000 in fuel.

  19. Thinking about putting the SS up for sale... again

still gonna sell the brakes first if you do? =)

    2. 90zxdriver

      90zxdriver

Probably. I need to figure out the situation with my boat first. The Rubicon I want to replace the SS with can't tow my boat.

  20. Just sold my motorcycle for what I paid for it when I bought it 3 years ago. Win!

      Hard to beat that. Congratulations.

  21. Anybody know what the plastic bracket thing that holds the headlight and parking light assembly is called or have a part number? Mine somehow broke on the drivers side right where the parking light clips in.

Header panel aka headlight mount panel. They're cheap. Just Google it.

  22. Does the Adams SUPERSPORT code no longer work? I need to order some more supplies

  23. Time for wheel bearings. Moog or OEM? I've heard the Timkin ones are junk now. Is this the correct part? https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=447723&cc=1412042

You can get wheel bearings from Amazon for like 93.99 a pair. Just picked some up a few weeks back, and they are rolling smooth.

  24. When do you draw the line and move on to a newer truck? I still love the SS but she is really starting to show her age (12 y/o).

And if the SSS is paid for, get a nice daily driver.

    3. 90zxdriver

      90zxdriver

Yeah, she is paid for. It needs the entire front end rebuilt to include new hubs, re-painted and new headlights and taillights. The Florida sun has really killed the exterior. The interior is mint though except for a few dog hairs.

I test drove a 13 awd 13' Sierra Denali and it definitely made me smile when that 6.2 was able to squeal all 4 tires.

Bring me the SS. I'll bring it back to life with a loving caring home. LOL

  25. The ol' SS is really trying me. The dang fuel pump is whining like crazy now. I just can't win;\
