  1. i sanded mine...also i strongly suggest powder coating ur rims.....then u wont have to repaint em later

Sanded 1st center last night - thanks it worked well. Just had to sand off all the clear coating to get the middle smooth enough for primer.

I'm only painting for now to be sure I like the satin black on my black truck. I really like the satin black on the blue SS's. If I decide to keep the color, it gives me a good enough reason the buy the power coating equipment (already have the oven).

  2. Has anyone removed the "clear plastic coated sticker" in the middle stock wheel centers? I'm painting my stock sliver wheels satin black and the clear plastic coating over the bow tie stickers has bubbled, Water get trapped behind them and has turned the aluminium color to white (looks real crappy). I want to paint the centers satin black also but dont want to paint over the middle section in its present condition - there are scratches and bubbled areas and it would look bad if just painted over as is. So far I've peeled off the clear where it has loosened from the aluminiun. Considering trying to sand one next.

  3. Short story:

Wife drove black truck for 1st time.

Followed line painting truck VERY closely.

Lots of yellow paint in wheel wells and on side.

Nothing worked well except picking the bits off with my fingernail.

good luck - 2 years lated there is still some in the front wheel well.

Oh yeah, also her last time to drive it.

  4. I just bought my second set for the SS. First set ran a bit over 30,000 miles BUT i drive my vehicle at work over very poor gravel roads which take their toll on any tire I've run. Even with off road tires on my Toyota 4x4 I run about 30,000 to 32,000 miles out of a set. I like them and for the price dont think you can beat them. Ran the firts set in the winter when they were new and they did OK (western PA winter). i'm running a winter tread now to get something a bit more narrow - The wider ones float too much in slush.

  5. response for sr1032 question below:

I'd like to use an iPod adaptor, probably the GMC2 but I have a question. I have an 03 with Bose but no XM and a 6 disc changer. XM isn't even an option when I hit the band button or the CD/Aux button either, will these adapters work for me?

Just put one in my truck, same set up as yours. Works but not completely correct, not yet sure why. When you scroll thru the "bands" it shows up as AUX1 and AUX2 (no XM). I dont have anything dislpayed on the radio screen and steering controls dont work right. There is a slip added into the instructions that says some of the radios were not programed for XM - dealer can do it for you by changing a software setting (need a tech 2 plug in device to shange it). It may also be because I'm using a 1st gen iPod. I havent talked to PAC yet on the issue but will be calling them in a day or so.
