  1. Thank you for the information. So I have a 1988 Longbed Chevrolet C1500 with the Silverado trim for which the previous owner added modifications, most notably the GM Goodwrench 350 engine, to where he re-badged it SS350? The previous owner originally told me that he made so many modifications that it could fill a file cabinet so I did not get paperwork on the history of the truck. I get around 18-19 mpg city and I suspect that the hard shell on back helps that. The truck rides like a car and the engine gives me all that I could want from a truck. I like having the SS350 badging, blacked-out grill, air foil, and the black center-cap with Chevy emblem, because if nothing else, it signifies that this is no ordinary Chevy pickup even if it is a faux SS. My future may hold an original SS Chevy Silverado someday :-)
  2. As my username says, I am a rookie to this SS thing. I have read a couple of threads (from 2008?) discussing the existence or not of the SS350. I understand that GM did not produce an SS350 factory built. I purchased a 1988 Chevy Silverado about 6 years ago from a NASCAR mechanic. I just wanted to include these pictures and get comment from knowledgeable people regarding the vehicle. It is clear that the work must be after market but that's about all I know. I don't know much about the technical jargon related to speaking about the truck. I am simply a driver and I love the truck. The truck is very quick, has 85 max on the speedometer but easily can reach it and maintain it. It has 345k miles on the register but the engine does not have that many miles and from what I understand from the original owner from 6 years ago, many of the parts don't have all the miles. I have included a picture of the GM Goodwrench engine designation but I have no idea what year it is. The truck also has a K&N air filter and has a computer chip installed (tuning?). I originally used 93 octane as suggested by the original owner but with gas prices, I have moved to 87 octane and it runs just fine (as I was told bit would by the original owner). - RookieSS
