  1. Hey im just browsing threw the SS site and came across this posting you left. Based on what i have been reading the issue im having with my 05 sss is the torque converter. when im driving 35-45 my truck starts to hop. also as im going to slow down to stop from 45-20 it does the same thing. it is a little sensative on the throttle especially when im going like 5-20 mphs. i've had 3 different mechanics test drive it and they all tell me something different. one said it was the ball joints, the other said it was the idle arms. so any suggestions on what this could be? its not easy finding a reliable mechanic in miami . . .
  2. Like is said its hard to explain whats it's doing with out riding in the truck. i just had it rebuilt and i feel the guy wasn't one of the few people in country that could re-build it. it was one of the tranny places in miami that give 6 months / 6K miles because they know their work sucks. so i dont think its tranny fluid, i haven't noticed any leaks, temperature gets to about half way between the cold and hot guage. . . . know of any-1 in south florida that a reliable transmission mechanic? as far as the type of transmission i have. . . . whats the difference between the 4L65 and the 4L80? any recommendations on a rebuild kit? thanks again.
  3. Whats up chief!? its kinda hard to explain. . . the issue is when im stepping on the gas the RPM's will go up as normal and then right before the 1st gear catches the RPM's jump another 200 RPMs, and then catches the first gear, same issue with the 2nd, right before it feels it should shift the RPMs jump another 200 RPM's , so to me it feels like its slipping . . .
  4. Hello to all, im having issues with my tranny and have a couple of questions what can i do so that i dont have to worry about a transmission for at least two years. .. should i buy a brand new tranny? if so what kind (model # or brand) i called the national chevrolet hotline and gave the lady my vin # she said i had a HD4 automatic transmission? from reading forums i thought i had a 4l80??? how can i see what kind of tranny im supposed to have?? again i have a 2oo5 ss AWD if i keep the shell of the tranny what rebuilt kit should i get? maybe the transmission guy doesn't know what kind of tranny i have and is putting in wrong parts? what updrades are out there? could it be a computer related issue? could it be an electrical issue? please help!! Thanks!
  5. Update on the Tranny issue. . . Tranny started slipping again in the end of March so i took it right back to the Transmission place. the guy said he would check it out, called me at the end of the week that the truck was ready to go. (mind you i've been on the phone with the guy 3 times a day that he needs to charge me my other arm and leg to fix what was wrong with it because i passed the 6K warranty) I told him he was out of his mind, so after going back and forth i agreed to pay $250 in parts. So after i paid him and left the tranny shop i must of driven the truck for 15 mintutes, which gave the tranny enough time to warm up and start f*ckin up. i would be stopped a t a light and let go of the break to go on green and the truck wouldn't move. i had to push the gas and rev the motor to 3K rpms for it to jump inot second gear. turned right back around and told him his work sucks or hes just tryin to pull a fast one on me. after another week at the shop the truck is running now, still with the issue of terrible shifts. right before it shifts a gear the RPMs jump about 200 RPMs and hits hard (doesn't shift hard) just hits hard. hard to explain. So i feel like the tranny will go again, just a matter of time. heres my question, . . . what can i do so that i dont have to worry about a transmission for at least two years. .. should i buy a brand new tranny? if so what kind (model # or brand) i called the national chevrolet hotline and gave the lady my vin # she said i had a HD4 automatic transmission? from reading forums i thought i had a 4l80??? how can i see what kind of tranny im supposed to have?? again i have a 2oo5 ss AWD if i keep the shell of the tranny what rebuilt kit should i get? maybe the transmission guy doesn't know what kind of tranny i have and is putting in wrong parts? what updrades are out there? please help!! Thanks!

  8. Hello to all, new member here, finally signed up since im on silveradoss.com every day. i purchased a 2oo5 silverado in june with like 79K miles. 3rd owner according to Carfax. so bought in june and transmission failed in December (merry christmas right!). being that this truck is my daily driver i took it to a shop that a friend recommended in miami. (we all know how reliable mechanics/ transmission shops are in miami) so i got the truck back a week later and it was running again. i got a 6 month or 6K mile warranty, after driving it for 3 months i already passed the 6K. but i took it back to the guy because its doing the following. (without failure) when it gets to 45mph it slips, feels like the gears are getting stuck, or like the truck got hit from the back. also when i go to step on it, it takes some time for the gears to catch. what can that be? from reading other forums i've seen it can be the torque converter. (the truck does kinda hop at 45 and 75 like if the tires need to be balanced) when i took it back he checked the fluid and said it was high. will high tranny fluid level do that to a transmission? when i take it back to the shop what sould i get done to enhance performance or get the tranny to shift smoother and to last me longer? has stock motor with cold air intake and 24" rims. Thanks to all.
  9. Whats up!? im Joe from south florida. Purchased my dream ride June of 2o1o. its a 2oo5 silverado ss. it had 89,000 miles on it. i'm the third owner (as per carfax). Not sure how well (or bad) the prior owners treated the truck so i've been surfing the forums on silveradoss.com for a while just to see how or what i should fix/replace. from what i understand the motor is still stock but income allowing i will upgrade little by little. came with 24" rims which i know slow it down tremendously. when the truck turns 25 i'll get a loan to completely refurbish it. What i've done so far. . . drilled and slotted rotors (11.o1.1o) K&N cold air intake (o2.o5.11) spark plug and wire change last week (o2.26.11) changed both belts (o2.26.11) after changing belts i saw that my a/c tensioner pully is shot so i bought that this week and will relpace this weekend. cleaned out the throttle body and bypassed the coolant. a biggie (replaced the tranny) 1200 bucks (ouch) still has issues too, will post in a tranny forum about that.
