  1. thanks bud.... good luck over there! ive been there twice and iraq as well. so i know what its like being so far from home! come home safe and soon. that way you can tinker with your truck with some new funds!!
  2. well i know that there are 454 LSX's out there. but i plan on running a sizeable anmount of boost on the truck. i may un-twin my DD and use the larger S480 atmospheric charger as a large single. so with that being said, i want to stay away from 454CI... the LSX block with 4.12 mahle's and 4.00 stroke crank would give me a 427. That would be a better option for higher boost applications than a 454 (due to narrow ring landings and such a long stroke) as far as the trans goes, i have already sold the stock 4l60e. i thought about the 80e but i wil opt for a powerglide instead. the truck will not be streetable with the powerglide and a trans brake. but thats why its a "dedicated" drag truck. i will keep the build up to date here, yellow bullet and LS1.
  3. thanks and thanks.... yea its a shame that its so expensive. motor hard parts wise, its not TERRIBLE pricing. but fuel, air, suspension and steering is absolutely retarded. along with tuning. unless you tune yourself. why original intentions were to throw the 6.6 into a RC/SB 2500 frame. but i would still be to heavy. so i thought about the 1500 frame. but there are to many electronic variables to consider. its very possible though. and i know there are several guys who have done it. but F-that. thats why i went with an LSX block and my old high school silverado. should be a good feeling driving that thing down the track!
  4. 3.73 you are setting yourself up better for topend, when you want low end....to get there quicker, you want the higher # gears, which are considered to be lower gears, like the 4:10's or 4:56's the sad part is that it is so freekin expensive to swap them out
  5. this looks like a BAD AS$ build! im in need of building a new LSX block as well. PM on its way. i need some parts.
  6. i have aquired a LSX block off of yellow bullet. i have already had the block has been stress releived, honed and decked already. i want to build it up soon. im coming from a diesel performance background so i an not EXTREMELY familiar with the LS series of engines. but i know some about them. however, i do know engines and racing pretty well. still not an expert though. but i beleive i know what questions to ask in order to get what i want from it. the drivability of the motor does not have to be street friendly. the engine is going to be dropped into a 2003 RC/SB silverado. it will be a dedicated drag truck to replace my heavy a$$ truck that i use at the track now... and its my daily driver. i dont want to risk the thing blowing apartAGAIN! to much money has been put into it as it is. the thing that gets me about chevy gas engines is that it seems as if a lot of parts from every LS based engine is interchangable with other chevy motors. IE LS6 intake on an LM7 block, heads from LS whatever cann be thrown onto the block of a LQ9 so on and so forth. so i have tried to learn as much as possible about every LS motor that i can. and this is why i have joing your guys forum. im not an SSS owner. or own a LQ9. however, i do respect the chevy SS. im a truck guy. and a chevy truck guy at that!!! so, with this being said, what is your guys opinion on a LSX based build? cranks, strokers, pistons, heads, rods, intakes. what are some common engine changes that you guys make on your LQ9's? head swaps? also, im interested in the sss AWD... is it true AWD or just 4x4? how much power has been pushed through the front T-case without failures? im still debating doing a 4 wheel drive swap into the truck. how about any ideas you have for frame work? IE 4 link. what works on these frames? as they are TOTALLY different than what i am used to. i will also be posting on yellow bullet if anyone wants to chime in on there. thanks in advance!! thanks for adding me as a user!
  7. thanks! i just added pics of the silverado and the dmax in my profile. not sure if its has the right settings though. it has a lock next to it. so idk if i missed something and set it to private or what. let me know if you can see them. i will add more when i get home. im at work right now. and those are the only ones i have available for the time being. i will upload a couple videos on here. one is a a 7.7 1/8 pass here at qualcom. and the other is a slow a$$ 1/4 mile pass back when i first got the truck.

    drag truck

parting out the 2003 silverado. its all torn down to the frame now. getting ready to build the LSX and get the chasis started.
  9. yea man thanks! i know a bit about the gasser platform. but i know that you guys know more. so thats why im registering here. i have several buddies that are really big into LS based trucks that are helping me out also. they have been nagging me for the truck for some time now. but i wouldnt sell. so now im actually putting a engine in it now!!! i do have more pics of the duramax. im uploading them now. its not a drag truck though. its my daily driver. i take it to the track pretty often though. the last thing im doing to it is installing the s480 over the s366. then im done. i will keep it and continue racing it. but im not adding any more goodies to it. my original thoughts were to put its motor into the RC/SB 1500 due to the huge power to weight ratio. but after some research, ive found that it will be really hard to do. but possible. i just wouldnt have anything to drive for a while. sooooo... thats why i bought the LSX block.
  10. well as the title says... im a new guy from san diego. originally from texas but i have been stationed out here for 5 years. also, i do not have a silverado SS. im just a huge motor head. however, im looking to build a LSX based RC/SB drag truck soon. i have the donor truck, LSX block and am about to pull the trigger on the crank, rods and pistons. i just know that i will be able to find a wealth of info that i will need on this forum. although i do not have a SS. i do have a daily driver/drag truck already. but its quite different from all of yours. its a diesel. my DD/toy 2005 EC/SB GMC sierra 2500 built motor by guy tripp @ socal diesel built trans with precision ML tc built by mike L @ inglwood transmission socal diesel stage 1 heads borgwarnger s366 (twining it soon. just need to installthe second charger) industrial injection moddified single CP3 (fuel) ported fuel rail 60% over injectors air dog II 200 GPH lift pump labonte stage 3 water methanol injection (labonte just went out of business though) some suspension work and caltracs. 7.16 @95mph 1/8 1.50 60' (recent) 11.89 1/4 @110 mph (last year) race weight 6400 with me in it.
