  1. SOLD!

Putting my SS up for sale. I am located in St Louis, MO. Low miles, runs great. Just about to hit 41k miles. I have only had it for about 3 months, but my buddy that works at a dealer now can get me an EXCELLENT deal on a brand new truck, and he said I should sell mine outright rather than trade. Best way to get ahold of me is to email me through craigslist or text/call my cell phone number listed in the ad, as i dont check this site as much anymore...

    $18,900.

  2. I have a 2009 f150 king ranch with 35" nitto mud graps. Fully loaded with ford sync, nav touch screen, sunroof, u name it it has it with only 40,00 miles. I was in same boat as you two years ago and got rid of the SS you see in my profile pic. looking for another willing to talk trade deals if interested or if you would straight sell for around 22 if you will take offers. Let me kniw if you have any questions or interested. king ranch can re sell for more than 32000.

Your f150 sounds super nice, but i think my next truck is gonna be something a lot less expensive. Smaller payment would be nice and as I said i want to be able to USE the truck without worrying about it getting a little banged up. PM sent.

  3. GLWTS. Just think long and hard if you really want to let her go. Trust me, I've been there.

yeah, i know exactly what ya mean. i have gone back and forth many times, and still dont know how i would feel if it was gone! i just do too much outdoors stuff (camping, fourwheeling, etc) and need a truck that I am not afraid to get a scratch on... I love this truck too much to see it get beat up.

  4. The 17mpg diesel example was two diffferent trucks of friends that are tuned and have bigger exhausts and cai. That is a best case/easy driving city number. They each get over 20 on the hwy. Best part is they get similar fuel economy to my truck towing! LOL! But they aren't as fast, cost way more initially & have much higher maintenance costs.

Ohh ok, well that makes sense. I have heard you can get pretty good mpg and power improvements with the tuners on a diesel, though I would assume you get one or the other!

  5. To a point. The newer trucks actually get decent fuel economy compared to these and their powertrains aren't all that different. 6 speed seems to help quite a bit and being able to turn the 4wd off has to help---lol! There are a ton of mildly warmed up diesel trucks (wayyy heavier) that get 17 in city and run out quite well. But then you get into the higher maintenance costs and it evens out a little.

Hmmm, i dont know about that. I had a 2009 z71 4wd w/3.73s and 4-speed and only averaged about 15mpg. Then had a 2010 z71 4wd with 3.08s and 6-speed and surprisingly got about the same. My 2011 LTZ was the worst of the 3 newer trucks, with the 6-speed, 3.42s, 20" wheels and got about 14.5 avg. All had the 5.3l and 4x4, ext cab, and i drive a mix of city/hwy. For comparison, I average about 14 in my 2004 SS. Not a considerable difference, in my opinion, for having the 6.0l, 4.10s, 4-speed, AWD, 20" wheels. Other than having to use premium. Dont miss the newer trucks at all other than the sweet LTZ interior!

A buddy of mine has a 2009 LTZ Duramax, and gets nowhere near 17mpg in the city. I believe he is averaging just under 15 all-around last i heard. Heavy truck of course, but....

  6. yeah, i go back and forth with wanting to try local, or just go with one of the proven tuners (zippy, bb, wheatley)... as with everything, i am probably overthinking it! i wish i was closer to one of them, so I could just have them tune in person.

    thanks for the info, btw

  7. I am thinking about giving one of the performance shops in my area a try for a PCM tune. They said they charge $110/hour, and ballpark 2-3 hours. Does that sound fair? Any specific questions I need to ask them before letting them touch my truck? I believe they have a dyno, but I dont think for AWD. Once it is done, how do I know if it is a good (and safe) tune?

Truck is basically stock at the moment, and most likely only near future plans are CAI, headers, e-fans... The shop I am looking at is PUR performance in St Louis, MO. I saw them post on facebook today about a Silverado SS Procharger setup they are working on right now. Is it anybody on the forum? Looks like it is Silver Birch 2wd i think, with maybe a 2/2 drop?

  8. Zippy is the man and wont stop helping you until you're happy. When you're happy, he's happy. He's done wonders with my truck and I know it wouldn't perform the way it does without him. Everytime I tweak something or if I feel something isnt quite right, I email him some logged data, he takes a look at the file, always knows exactly what numbers to change, sends the file back, into my truck it goes, and bingo... It runs like a champ. Like said above, he's something of a prodigy when it comes to GM tuning. He's a monster.

What would be needed for me to have this same capability? A laptop and HP Tuners? Then I could log data of my truck, send to Zippy,, and purchase a tune from him that he could send and I can apply to the truck?

BTW, on original topic, everything I have seen on this forum has been mostly positive for Zippy and BB. So my guess is you probably cant go wrong, though I have no personal experience yet with either...
