  1. As far as warranty goes, most of the repairs are done at the dealer's discretion when there are mods involved. If someone comes in with an unknown engine / trans issue, new GM protocol is to take a snapshot of the PCM and submit it to your warranty rep to make sure there is no aftermarket tuning done. At our dealer, we are pretty good to our customers and looking the other way when it comes to repairs. We want to make them happy first. Unless the customer is a complete asshat, then we tell them no, and email all the service managers in the area to the potential of an asshat trying to come in for warranty work.
  2. More than an AWD SS? I figured it be about the same, if not a little better.
  3. I too was also considering a Duramax... but for what I can buy a used Dirtymax for, I can buy this truck brand new. Decisions, decisions....
  4. I have yet to see any of these 6.2's really run... besides full size Escalades and Yukons. I'm assuming a pickup would fair a little better in the performance category. I work at a Chevy dealer, and I go through a new vehicle about every year. lol I've owned the SS for 2 years now, and I owe about $4k on it still. One of the main reasons I want a new truck now, is the used car market is up, so I can get more for my SS, and the rebates on the 2011 model year trucks are pretty good right now. $6k off sticker. Plus since I work at the dealer, I get GM discount. So this $40k truck, I can get into for just over $30k. Not to mention the warranty that comes with it. I do love my SS, but I also miss the off road capabilities that my old pick ups had. And I have my Camaro, so my truck isn't my "toy". The truck now, just turned 60k on the clock... so it's still a low miled truck, but nothing beats driving off the lot with next to no miles on it.
  5. Almost ready to pull the trigger on this. I just need to reassure myself that I won't be pissed off about my decision. 2011 Silverado Z71 ext cab short bed L9H 6.2 3.42 locking diff 6L80 Just wanted to hear some opinions on this truck. I have an 04 SS and am considering this an "upgrade". Anyone with personal experience as far as performance goes? Should I expect a wash in comparison to my SS... since the SS has less HP but 4.10's? What do you guys think. Thanks in advance, -Andy
  6. I'm a little over an hour due north from Toledo. I did date a girl down there so I was there quite often last summer. Very cool! I drive by the tech center all the time... and have a few friends that live out in Clarkston. I work at the Chevy dealer in Romeo. Thank you for the welcome!
  7. I honestly like it... it's different. Not saying I would do that to mine, but it's good to do your own thing. I've seen a few times where people will lift a 1/2 ton and put the SS front fascia on... It's a good appearance mod IMO. And when I first looked at this, that's what I thought it was. I do like that hood too.
  8. I just recently added a K&N CAI and magnaflow mufflers. The gains I've seen so far are minimal, but still decent. My highway average mpg's went from around 15-15.5 to 16.5-17. I do about 90% city driving, and I've even seen slight gains there, about 1mpg. I'm still running on a stock tune. The worst part about adding mods for fuel economy... you're also adding some performance, and when you add that, you tend to want to... "test" it out. The best mod for mpg's as stated above, is going to be you. Maintain your truck, and maintain your self control on the throttle!
  9. The good thing is... modding the LQ9 is almost identical to modding the LS1. So I should be at least a little bit credible!!! In fact, I'd like an LQ9 in my Z28!!! I plan on leaving my SS mostly stock, she is my DD and reliability is #1. Plus then I get to put more $$ into the Camaro. I've been browsing this site for a couple days now, and there is definitely some great info on here. Thanks for the welcomes!
  10. Hello everyone, I'm Andy from MI. I've owned my truck for 2 years and I am just now joining. My internet forum time is usually tied up... so this is rare that I am venturing out. I have an 02 Z28 and am a moderator on LS1.com... so that takes up a crap load of my time. But I wanted to get involved with the this site and the truck scene because these things are so rare. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys/gals and hopefully if there is anyone around the SE Michigan area, we can do a little SSS cruising. She is an 04 with dual Magnaflow mufflers hooked in to the stock exhaust, and a K&N CAI.
