What's the difference with CHPspecial and SoCaltuning? If there's any? I know CHPspecial does the EFI live tune and a Socaltuning I read on the web page that they use Diablosport? I appreciate all of your feed back!

Yeah When I bought the SS it came with a full Gibson exhaust set up headers and exhaust. I like how it runs I just don't really like the way it sounds! I have to make a good smart choice?

I am trying to purchase a 03 SS And it failed the smog check because it has Gibson headers & exhaust and a Volant cold air intake. Does anyone have any hookups in the Fresno CA, area? What else can I do?

My wife is giving me a hard time because I chose the SS over the Avalanche I have a six year old boy and one on the way she is 6 months pregnant. She liked the avalanche because it has four doors and better gas mileage with the 5.3 over the 6.0 but since I am planning to purchase a toy hauler so that's why I went with the bigger 6.0. I explain to her the the ext cab isn't that small. Help what else could I say? I'm not that creative. LOL

Well as far as the quarter mile goes. Stock for Stock an AWD will launch better off the line but the higher gears in the 2wd will give it a faster top speed.

Here is a video of a similar modded AWD vs a2WD

as you see the black AWD gets a better jump of the line but the 2wd reals him in. The different in quarter mile time was .01 of a second

 

I believe that the 2WD may get a little bit better MPGs but probably not much, but with a 2wd you may go through rear tires like crazy The 2wd also has rear drum brakes vs. the AWD and its 4 wheel discs

 

I think its all about personal preference. I personally live in AWD/ 4WD country and have to have the AWD truck in winter, so i would never even dream of a 2WD truck
