    My Super Slow SS

Last week some kid was up the track with a brand new 300 srt with dealer plate, which tells me it's not a sold car, and he was getting smoked by a TBSS with a Slowhawk tune, exhaust, and thermostat running 14.0. Oh ya, and the TBSS smoke me too. Haha.

That's very promising. U AWD? I don't see how I'd get any tire spin unless I had huge amounts of power. The SSS just hooks, even in the rain. I left the line foot braking to the highest rpm I could without the brakes slipping but damn these converters are tight and I'm probably leaving at under 2k rpm.

Ya, I just cleaned my daily driver (97 Mazda Protege beater) MAF for a low idle/stall and it fixed it. Fuel mileage went back up to 37mpg from 32mpg too. I used electrical contact cleaner but I did see some MAF spray cleaner made by CRC that I might try but it's probably the same thing in a different can. I hope you run mid-low 13's and smoke some of those SRT's. I work for a dodge dealer and those things rip but its still a dodge and I'm not a fan of the product. Love to see GM's tearing it up especially with such a disadvantage when stock.

NGK TR55ix iridium plugs, fuel filter, and Taylor wires 35k ago so I'll probably do a fuel filter soon. Just cleaned and oiled the K&N last week. Haven't cleaned the MAF but I think I'll do that soon too. I've seen the oil from the filters cause contamination to the MAF's before which I thought about as I was oiling the filter.

Ya. I'll let you know when I head up. Probably wont be for a few weeks though. Gotta get the tune and thermostat. I also gotta do the pitman and idler arms and right outer cv boot is torn and throwing grease everywhere. I'll take care of those next week and the tune the week after then head back up.

    Ya, I'm running a K&N set up.

I agree. I was never a big believer in removing belts and sway bars to make my old fox bodies faster on track day, just not worth. I wanna a solid time that I can run consistantly and know it runs just as good on the street.

Truck needs a diet I guess.

I weighed mine at NED before, it was 5240lbs with 1/3 tank. That's not bad at all. Hitch and spare included?

I'm 200 lbs so its anywhere from 5400-5600 lbs I would say. It does have a stealth box with 12" sub and amp so maybe another 100 lbs or so. Guess I just gotta make more power. Got an email back from Wheatley yesterday so should be getting a tune within the next couple of weeks.

No, I didn't weight it at the track last week. What do these things really weigh in at with a 1/2 tank?

I wasn't expecting miraculous numbers, I'm aware that its a stock truck that weighs 5200 lbs. I was just expected what all the magazine reviews were running when the trucks came out and that was 14.9-15.2 at 88-90 mph.

Ya, I'm definately interested in what it runs with what you've done so far. Keep me posted. Are you running at NE Dragway?

I'd be happy with that but considering I already have a CAI and cat back, I'm pretty sure a thermostat and tune aren't gonna get me to the mid 14's from 15.9. If it does then I'll be a very happy man.

I don't have a thick wallet, that's why I'm asking questions. My goal is mid to low 14's by end of summer.

Ya, that's what I'm doing, bitching. Looking for other real world experiences with these trucks. Isn't that what these forums are for? I guess I should just wait until I put all the $$$ into my truck without getting the results I want and then I'll start posting and asking questions on what I wasted my $$$ on. To each his own, but I don't need your personal opinion on what threads you like and what threads you find entertaining. I'm looking for useful opinions and yours is not.

Thanks 03mass. I'll check out Billy Boat. CanadianVRss, what intake are you running the L92 heads? Just a mail order tune? What's it running in the 1/4 now? Sorry, I thought you wrote "heads" not "headers" in you first post.

I've emailed Frost and Wheatley with some questions about tuning, just waiting for a response.

Bizo on mufflers I would go with Magnaflow, Borla, Gibson. Complete systems Corsa or Billy Boat (B&B has true dual exhaust systems, quality is 2nd to none). The truck has a Corsa side exit exhaust but the previous owner had a Thrush chambered muffler welded in place of the Corsa muffler because he claimed it was rotting and leaking. My buddy own's a Lou's custom exhaust shop and I know he's gonna try to talk me into their house brand SS409 muffler but I know nothing about them. He one on my old TBI Yukon and it was loud, sounded like a chambered muffler. I might have to supply my own.

Wow. Why do I see all these trucks online running 14.9's. Doesn't add up. What kind of heads did you put on? Who tuned it after the heads?
  21. How the fuel filler door? If its available, how much?

Ok. I'm installing a shift kit with vette servo and a tune and we'll see how it goes then. The torque management really ruins the shifting completely. It's so soft it's ridiculous. That's gotta get me near the 14's I hope. Any opinions on mufflers? It's gotta thrush on it now but it could be hurting not helping. I was thinking true dual with an x-pipe but I have no idea what mufflers to run.

"Your 60ft times are whats killing you. Is Granite State Dyno in Concord? I think you will find that any AWD dyno around here is 1 roller to short for our trucks. I went to ESP for a street tune and we tried loading the SSS on the dyno for shits and giggles........to short!" What should my 60' times be? I don't see how a tune could dramatically reduce the 60' time with a converter. Granite state dyno is in with Pro Tree performance now in Hudson. What are everyone's thoughts on headers as far as brand is concerned? There's such a price difference. Texas speed even makes they're own they're $1000 less then ARH. I can't see the justification for $1400 headers.

    My Super Slow SS

My 60' times were 2.33-2.45. It was about 75 degrees not sure about humidity but it was low. Should I do a tune first or transgo hd2 shit kit with servos then tune? I'm gonna baseline dyno it soon, I live three houses down from Granite State Dyno and they have an AWD dyno. I was thinking of using Slowhawk to tune instead of a mail order but I'd like to get opinions on the top mail order tuners if you guys have any.

    My Super Slow SS

Nope. Just expected stock times that's all.
