With the engine cool, take some soapy water and soak all around the flange to head area of the header. I'm still convinced that you will have an exhaust leak.

Make sure that the flange is not leaking. Will sound just like a valve tick.

14.8 at 91 and a drop in K&N and a knock off magnaflow x flow. I think the stripes helped

Yep been there done that already. I got my back housing from rockauto. I think it cost me 150 shipped. Had no fitment issues at all and all was well. Sadly I have to tear the case apart again for a chain and a broken bearing...

Would upload a pic of my setup, but it is telling me upload to big. I have an xcelerator muffler ( same as a magnaflow X flow but a 1/3 the cost and stainless steel at that) with tips dumped right before the axle with flare tips.

Dump it before the axle. I'm not a fan of exhaust pipes or tips hanging out though. I think they break up the body lines of vehicles unless there is a cutout for it.

Wow no offense but something is not right if you are only running a 14.68@91. I ran a 14.86 @91 in my SS with a 135k on the clock. Mine only has a k&n drop in and a muffler....

Funny thing is, is if you get the ac delco iridium's there actually NGK. Says it right on the plugs lol.

Ok good news. It is NOT the front differential. It is the front bearing in the transfer case. So here is my thesis. The snap crackle pop was the chain skipping, which when it grabbed from slipping it "shocked" the front bearing and destroyed it. So tonight I drained the transfer case to see how bad the fluid was with shavings, and there were no real shavings just super fine flakes. So hopefully no hunks out from the damage.
So tomorrow I will be tearing the t case down (again) to replace the chain and the bearing. Hopefully no other bearings are destroyed. The front bearing was 65 dollars alone my cost. ( I work for a custom shop as a fabricator and the performance guy).

I have tuned my truck (personally), drop in k&n and a muffler. That's it. There was a 110,000 on the old diff. Carrier was wiped on that one and destroyed the case. This was a jasper reman. 135,000 on it now. So 25k on this diff total.
I'll add that there was no prior indication of this happening. No weird noises or whining at all. And I didn't even brake stand it. I launched about half throttle and that is when it happened. There is no fluid leaks and it doesn't even vibrate. So really not sure what happened.

Well I ordered the bearing rebuild kit for it. Tearing it down later to see what is going on. Will keep this thread posted on my findings. This is my second now front diff in this truck.

Racing a mustang from a light, launched, snap, crackle pop. Now whining from the front diff. No leaks or broken housing that I can tell.

Yea I agree. I have yet to be pulled over in my SS. I had a 96 neon that I loved. I did full bolt ons and a full koni suspension with Mopar extreme high rates. I got pulled over in that car within a month more than I got pulled over in years. Profiling cops I swear lol.
Here is the neon. Before and after the suspension then when I painted the wheels. This car really grew on me.

I need shift solenoids for the truck, specifically shift solenoid A 1-2 shift. Is everything the same for the 60e and the 65e as far as the solenoids. I'm looking to order off of rockauto or a local parts store, but just want to make sure so it is one and done. Any info appreciated.
