  1. I did order the zinc plated hardened separator plate from summit so I hope that'll work good. I"m going to wait on a transmission cooler because I live up here in North Dakota so it's cold as shit here right now and for like another 2 to 3 months. Once I see what my temps are like this spring i'll decide and probably end up getting one. I haven't heard about these aftermarket check balls??
  2. Hey guys I'm fairly new to the ss world and just wanted to share this and maybe get some pointers from some of you experienced modders. So far I have plugs, wires, CAI, and AR longtube headers. In a couple weeks I am going to throw in my depo e-fans, 145amp alternator, transgo hd-2c shift kit, vette servo and overdrive super hold billet servo, aluminum acc. pistons, and to top it off my zippy custom tune I have read up A LOT on this, but it will be my first tranny I've ever taken apart so I'm just looking for any pointers you experts may have for me. Thanks guys
  3. Hey jason I'm curious if you know the part number for the kit you ordered? I'd like to know so if i go that route I make sure to get the correct kit. Any problems with your kit? I've heard mixed things about getting a bigger alternator or not, but I think I am gunna order a 160 or 145 amp and be done with the decision. I am running 2 12's and soon a 7" dvd player and probably HID headlights and TBSS fog lights in the future as well so I think its a good idea to upgrade! Ya its too bad sprayed and Mr. P no longer sell that kit. I've heard great things about them and I'd definitely be down to buy it. Too bad im a late bloomer and just bought my ss last December
  4. http://www.amazon.com/Silverado-Escalade-Suburban-Avalanche-Cadillac/dp/B0071F5200/ref=sr_1_40?ie=UTF8&qid=1347070971&sr=8-40&keywords=escalade+fan Anybody used these or think something like this will work good and move enough air? I ask because I'd like it to be new, if nothing else I will try to find some used ones of a newer vehicle. I have ARH and within a few years plan on putting a radix on my truck. I plan on getting a tune from zippy within the month too so the e-fans will run properly.
  5. Hey all, I have a 2003 silverado SS and I am looking at throwing some e-fans on it and a 145 or 160 amp alternator. I have read a lot on this topic and so far from everything i've read everybody says to go with the HPM or Torrent e-fan kit that I believe Mr. P. was selling on this site? I would like to purchase one of these does anybody know if they are still in the business of selling this kit?? If not what has everybody else done besides buy all the parts separately from gmpartsdirect or a dealer? I'd like to buy a kit. Seems to be less hassle and cheaper IMO. Thanks in advance.
  6. I have the Taylor 409's 10.4mm and ARH. None of mine are touching the headers, but i might get the heat sleeves just to be on the safe side. Mine are like a 45 degree boot it seems. Got them from summit racing.
  7. alright cool thanks for all the info guys. I ended up leaving mine for now since I didn't have a leak at first. I just got my ARH installed tonight! sounds pretty badass No idiot lights on yet. (only driven about 20 miles) Seems to idle too low. (to the point the engine almost dies) however im not tuned yet so maybe thats why.
  8. thanks for all the information guys. I think I will go buy new bolts and gaskets tomorrow if I can get off work in time. Anybody tried leaving the broken stud in?? any success? I never did have a leak before the whole time it was busted off. I might try to leave it in there for now, because any exhaust shop around here is 2 weeks out and I don't have a welder at my house.
  9. I had my header bolt break off closest to the firewall on the driver side as well. Just recessed a little in the head. It has been broken for a while I'm assuming because I found it that way. I am curious if your method worked? Did you just leave the bolt alone, or did you put some gasket sealant in that area? I'd like to know how it turned out because I don't really want to pull the head nor do I wanna haul the truck to an exhaust shop.
  10. Hey guys, I am fairly new to the site, but I have read A LOT of information and the site has been very helpful. I recently bought a set of 1 7/8" ARH longtubes with the high flow cats. I have gotten all the old exhaust off with little problems (even with a hacksaw). However, prior to starting on the driver side manifold I realized that the back manifold bolt closest to the firewall was not there. After taking off the manifold my biggest nightmare came to reality.. The bolt is broken off in the head. I have no idea how this would have happened as it looks like the truck has never been worked on and I've never had an exhaust leak (that I noticed anyway). It is broken off flush or maybe slightly recessed. I have read as much as I could find about this and the little of information I can find is I'm probably stuck with having to remove my head. So I have a few questions to ask you experienced guys. Any other solutions to getting it out without removing that head? I don't know if i trust myself drilling it. (that is if i can even get a 90 degree drill in there) I am going to re-use my stock gaskets. Since it didn't leak before would it hold with gasket sealant and leaving the bolt?? Are we supposed to use gasket sealant with the stock gaskets?? This is my first set of headers and I am stuck and need some insight on what to do at this point. Any information on my problem and header install in general is greatly appreciated.
  11. I won't need a Y pipe or anything. I will have straight duals out the back from the headers with no cats. Just a dynomax X flow muffler. I live in North Dakota and emissions isn't an issue, but from what i've been reading stainless steel is a must up here. I was going to go with pacesetters, but they are only coated and I've heard they won't hold up in the long run in the weather I deal with up here because I will be driving my truck in the winter. I have read A LOT of information about OBX and have heard great things. I know Dynatech came out with the new style fixing the "hump" issue. I was just wondering if anybody had heard if OBX had once again copy-cat the design and if these were it because I'd like to go with them and get them coated as well if they will work. Thanks for the info guys. I have read and learned a ton on this site.
  12. Does anybody know if this is the new style OBX without the "hump" and will fix my 03 AWD ss?? Ebay says they will, but i've come to not just trust that. I am going to be running headers into true duals, probably with no cats. Just wanna know if these should fit...Thanks for any info http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Exhaust-Header-Long-Tube-99-06-Chevy-Silverado-Avalanche-Suburba-4-8-5-3L-/181204981807?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ASilverado+1500%7CSubmodel%3ASS&hash=item2a30a8982f&vxp=mtr

Ebay tells me they will fit but the add doesn't say they will. I know I've heard from some that just the headers for a 5.3 fit the 6.0 as well. I don't need the Y pipe cause I'm running the true duals straight out the back. I just need somebody who knows more to help me out before I order. Thanks

    New SS :)

I hear ya, i'm pretty pleased with the mileage anyway judging from what I've heard people are getting. Sounds like I'll be getting some OBX headers before I get a mail order tune. I've read a lot about headers on here and I've pretty much decided on OBX. Stainless steal is a must for me here in North Dakota because of the harsh winters/roads. Has anybody heard if they've made a newer style that does not include the hump and fits our trucks!?

    New SS :)

Hey guys, just wanted to share and as a few questions. I've finally got the truck I've always wanted with the right amount of miles. I picked up an 03 AWD SS last December with 52,000 miles on it. I currently have 65,000 on the truck. I only have a dynomax X flow muffler, and a spectre CAI. I haven't decided on getting long tube headers yet, but I am wondering if a custom tune from one of the recommended such as (zippy, wheatley, or blackbear) is worth it with only those two modifications on my truck? I'd like to get a little better milage currently (14 city and 16.5 highway.) If it isn't worth it I will plan on getting long tube headers even though I don't plan on doing any racing with this truck unless its the occasional drag on main;). I've learned a lot just from reading threads on this site. Thanks a bunch SS family!
  22. are these still for sale? I'm very interested
