  1. Hit up these guys. https://www.facebook.com/pages/JS-Performance-and-tuning/285981151431471?fref=ts
  2. As for how its secured in the back, currently the holes in the stock hinges have been slotted, and they slide into a stud that i put through the holes in the hinge bracket thats below the windshield on each side, when I tilt the hood back down and slide it back they slide in those studs. The left and right bracket are connected so theres no twist or anything in the hood, everything stays square.
  3. the way the hinges are setup right now the hood will hold it self up in the popped position as shown in the 4th picture, you could undo the bolts there and just side the hood back to the pins and then lift it up and prop it. it will lift evenly as it will be in the slots, I'll get some more pictures later this week.
  4. Socket wrench and 4 bolts, not too bad. Plus the hinges would stay on the hood so you dont have to worry about getting her all lined up again when you put it back on, You Would only need it off for bigger jobs IMO. You could also just undo the hinges and prop the hood up normally as the rear sits in a slot when pushed back.
  5. I'll keep those interested in hinges in mine after I get mine all assembled, I wont sell any sets until they are absolutely flawless.
  6. Hey Guys, I just picked up my 2003 SS about a month and a half ago (80k miles). Performance wise it has a K&N Intake and Borla Exhaust dummped under the cab. The first thing it got was a new 4l65e with stage 2 shift kit, pinless accumulator, billet 2nd and 4th servo and a monster sunshell. Also dropped in a 2800 Stall. Next on the drivetrain list is a B&M Hammer Console shifter .(mostly for show) The truck was almost bone stock when I got her except exhaust and intake, I got some drop shackles in the rear and turned down the keys a few turns up front. Waiting on spindles from a friend and rear hangers (hes going back to stock height). I murdered out my wheels grills and all my badges as well as smoked my tail and 3rd brake lights. Aside from that installed 2 JL W3s under the backseat and installed a Pioneer AppRadio DA-02 as well as hard mounted an iPhone for streaming pandora, iHeartRadio, etc. This past weekend I went off to the scrap yard and tracked down some hood hinges off a late 80s Buick Park Avenue. If you guys know the car you know where I'm going with this. 4 Hours later I had a suicide hood. Lucky I'm a design engineer and am going to take all my hinges in to work and draw up some new ones specifically for the SS that way the hinges look super clean. Ill have them cut out of 16ga on the laser and bend em up in the press. As for now I got everything mocked up and mounted and working just fine! Best $16 I've spent so far!, I plan on designing the new hinges to work with a gas strut instead of the springs that the current hinges use. that allows me more clearance by the fuse box and expansion tank. Aside from that I installed some Camaro 45th style hood stripes. To Do: Long Tubes, Texas Speed 224 Cam Zippy/Blackbear Tune. Next Winters Options: 408? Turbo? Supercharger? Nitrous? When she came home- Drop and Blackout (headlights have been buffed since this) Hood Closed: Hood Popped: Hood Tilted: Full Shot:
  7. I'll try the diode tonight, I've done the rest of them (4-High and Full Time DRLs) But wanted to see if anyone had any ideas before I went and got more diodes.
  8. okay guys, I've looked all over on the net and cant find a solid answer for this.. Is it possible to have my parking lamps on AS my DRLs. I see a lot of people disable their DRLS and just wiring them with the parking but I want it reversed. I would like my turn signal/corner markers on when my DRLs come on. Is this done the same way as the 4-High. just run a Diode from the 85pin on the DRL relay to the 85pin on the parking lamp relay? Will my tails come on as well? (I have smoked tails so if so that would be nice)
  9. how did you do your headrest stitching white?
  10. My RT is gonna be garbage the first couple runs I'm sure while I figure out how she comes off the line. Oh well its just for S&G's. I think the hardest part is going to be getting that down since I'm used to how my bike launches and when to slip out. I have a feeling this forum is going to cost me a lot of money and my wife will hate all of you! Reading signatures on what mods y'all are running has me all over the internet right now!!
  11. i was looking for a brushed aluminum badge but couldnt find any and thought about making some out of stainless on the laser and having them powdered clear but I think they came out pretty good. cost $5.79 so I cant complain. I had a buddy smoke my tails and 3rd brake light. Those got cleared this morning..
  12. I dipped my badges this past weekend and although skeptical they came out really good and it was super easy. What I did was tapped off a square around the badges and i put enough tape to catch a majority of the over spray. When you use dip it sprays easier when the can is warm. so I recommend putting it in a hot bucket of water while you aren't spraying. Start with a really light coat. 10% coverage, that will help the next coat have something to stick too. Remember keep the can hot, I did 2 or 3 light passes to get about 80% coverage and then 3 heavier passes. let it dry good.. give it 25-30 minutes before you pull the tape up. Once i started pulling the tape up it started pulling all the dip up, once it got to the badges the dip did like it was supposed to and separated right at the seam, any little access pieces that didnt pull up right away i just used a tweezers to grab an edge and peel up. Clean up any overspray with a DRY microfiber towel. Easy as that.
  13. and for the smart asses, a camshaft has multiple CAMS on it so every engine can have CAMS.. some just have multiple camshafts
  14. so just brake, hold it at around 3 and when the light hits just drop the brake and floor it? I've only ran my bike at the track.. i hold that a around 11k
  15. I'm going to run the SS this Friday night at the track to get some baseline numbers before cams and a tune. I have Borla Exhaust dumped under the cab and a K&N Intake. Whats the best way to launch the truck. Its on 03 so it has AWD. I've never ran an Auto down the strip. should i keep it in 3 with towing on? I'm not comfortable shifting manually on the column in case of missing a gear.
